Nein Sarah das stimmt nicht ganz...es ist Dativ und nicht Genitiv:Die Frage ist nach WEM ist es jetzt anders?

Antwort:Nach DER neuen rechtschreibung.....nur so ein beispiel....

Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod sag ich dazu nur ;-P

/edit: Oups, falscher Thread xD

Bitteschön- how do you pronounce this word

this is my sister her name is (name of person)

good evening, could you please direct me to the toilets?

thank you so much i was busting to go.

how would you say these sentences in German? :D

Pronouncing "bitteschön"? phew, that's hard, let me try:

Bidashon or Bidashean ... it's hard to discribe the ö in your language ;-)

It's kinda like first the "Bid" followed by an a and then either shon or shean (the ea is the same as in "earn"). The last one sounds better, but I think, it's harder to understand. Anyways, let's go on:

"this is my sister her name is (name of person)"

Das ist meine Schwester, ihr Name ist (name)"

"good evening, could you please direct me to the toilets?"

Guten Abend, könnten Sie mir bitte die Toiletten zeigen?

"thank you so much i was busting to go"

Vielen Dank, ich wollte gerade gehen. (don't really know, what's meant with busting though, does it mean "i wanted to go right now"?)

Danke you very much winnie :D

that is one hard word but you explained it very well.

 busting to go- i really had to go(to the toilet), for example take a balloon with water, if it has to much water it might burst!

hope that explains it

"Bitte" sounds like bitter, and "schön" rhymes with burn...................................

;) cheers- so you know German Mc- btw you don't mind me calling you Mc do you?

Well I'm not Scottish, so you'd be better sticking to "Mark"! :D

@kekita:

ah, okay, then it would be something like that:

"thank you so much i was busting to go"

Vielen Dank, ich musste so dringend mal [auf die Toilette].

But I would be a little bit confused, when someone's saying this to me after I told him/her, where the toilets are ;-) I think, "Vielen Dank!" would be enough ;-)

@mark: yeah... that would be a better way for describing the pronounciation.

So why is "Dank" with a capital D and "danke" not? Does it count as a noun?

Dank is a noun. But danke is a special verb-type (dunno which) of "danken" (to thank) - so you write "danke" only with a capital D, when it stands at the beginning of a sentence, otherwise, you don't. Understand?

edit: I think, "danke" comes from "ich danke", but maybe the "ich" fell away during some time... I'm not a etymologist though, but it would explain, why danke is a verb.

Yes, that IS how I understood it..........................................

^ danke for that winnie and Mark

what i meant by Mc was M.C you know like in M.C. Hammer :P

^Please don't compare me to him - he's terrible!! :P

You are right....and you are NOT terrible..... :D :D :D

"kisses for me,save all your kisses for me......" :D

"Bye bye baby - bye bye..................

Don't cry, baby - don't cry!!"

la-la-la-la-la-laaaaa.....

we played it this morning with our music club..... :D

here is some dialect:"Net schwaade, laade." Means something like "Don't talk just drink!" :P

la-la-la-la-la-laaaaa.....

we played it this morning with our music club..... :D

The last line goes something like:

"Save all your kisses for me -

Even though you're only THREE"

He's singing to his little daughter, I think!! :P
