The Comic Book Thread

Featured Replies

I like Comic Books. Always have, since the tender age of 5, 23 years ago. Maybe even earlier.

The first ones I ever read were Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing and ElfQuest. I loved them all. To this day I can still see them in my head. GR's flaming motorcycle, Iron Man flying throught the sky with his boot jets and Winnowil inside Blue Mountain, holding the baby like some demoness.

They convey drama and action, emotions and thoughts as well as any book or movie. I know because I have been reading them forever.

They aren't just for kids anymore, they range in styles and genre's for all ages. Books like Preacher or Sandman, clearly for adults to books like Spider-Man and Teen Titans for those younger. I like many books and I don't limit myself to one company like some do.

Today I bougt the final issue of the Rann/Thanagar War, an excellent sci-fi mini from DC as well as Marvel Monsters: Devil Dinosaur. Devil has always been one of my all-time favs. Also I picked up one trade, a B&W reprint DC Showcase: Metamorpho - 500+ pages for $23.00.

Right now I am really looking forward to Infinite Crisis by DC. Can't wait to see what happens in their giant crossover. Am also reading House of M, and I am actually pretty disapointed in it so far. Not as slam-bang as I thought it would be, kind of meandering and slow truthfully. It is still good, butnot as good as I thnk Crisis 2 will be.

So I want to know who else reads these sometimes great and sometimes not - works? What do you read? Why do you read? What is on your pull list every month?

I would like to hear from you. :)

I buy Amazing Spider-Man every month. Really enjoy Strazynski's writing. I loved his stuff since Babylon 5, and I also buy Fantastic Four now that he is on the book. ;)

A few years ago i had loads of the spider-man series, collected it for a while.

love comics, i use to always draw the charachters from the books. started doing them a year or so ago but have stopped for some reason.

Picked up a few back issues of various titles a couple of weeks ago for 50 cent each. might pick up a couple more this week.

think i might start the drawing again, have loads of old spidey, x-men, batman etc comics around the house

i used to collect batman comics. batmans my favorite super hero

Fantastic Four, Elektra and Daredevil are my fav ones. :D

I used to read them all the time but unfortunetely they stopped selling them here, which sucks very badly!

I used to read mostly Bonelli's comics, particulary Zagor, and also Martin Mystére, Mister NO, Lazarus Ledd, Dylan Dog, and of course Alan Ford.

I don't do it anymore, mostly because I don't have money, nor time.

i was about to create a new thread about that but since i've found this thread here i go:

i do like comics, european ones (in particular: spanish and french)

the ones i liked the most are:

Mortadelo y Filemón

Zipi y Zape

El Botones Sacarino

13 Rue del Percebe

Rompetechos

Tintín

Astérix y Obélix (i have almost the whole collection (that is more than 30 books)

Little Spirou

i got other ones that are older but didn't liked them that much.

before anyone asks:

yep i did read some spider-man comics and i still prefer th other ones, not that i found them bad, but those american comics in general are more action type, which i prefer ones of fun or knowledge. :)

I prefer Manga over Comic Books.

I think the similarities are massive.

I only really like comics that are dark

Like The Watchmen and some of the Batman ones

I like the Venom storyline in Spiderman as well

I just bought the Ghost in the Shell manga, I look forward to starting it
