I can't play Mpeg's!!!

Featured Replies

Grr...Why can I not playback MPEG videos

I can only play tehm in firefox/internet explorer

Any othertime I just get a blank screen

Does this mean somethings gone wrong with my MPEG decoder?

It's only happened recently, I used to be able to play them fine

I can still play back all other video types though

Any help?

I'm not sure but maybe you need some codecs.

I highly recommend XP Codec Pack, it has tons of codecs for audio and video problems.

:)

Basically, you only really need the ffdshow codecs. It covers pretty much everything (well not quicktime and real, but you know, jsut get Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative for those). I havn't had to install any codecs for a long time. Also you can use VLC Player. I've never used it but apparently it has codecs built in. I still gotta check it out.

Cheers! I was having a similar problem and that pack is brilliant! Thanks again! :D
