firstly Swiss supports whisteled our National anthem on the first match..

Sally , you say " Huggel kicks some guy of the Turkish team, they didn't show what had happened before." so do they show what was happened , what did swiss players or swiss supporters did before we had done in response?how can you believe that's all what is shown to you??

There weren't many Swiss supportes... some of them were interviewed on TV, they said that Turkish supportes threw things at them.

I don't think it's a response to kick some Swiss player.

But I never said that all Swiss players and supporters are innocent.

we just want to be treated fairly... :/

What would a fair punishment be in your opinion?

yeah, both sides are guilty .. but Swiss players and supporters abilty of provocation is incredible..

Money or not playing some games in our home , but preventing to join other cups is really big!!and i think Switzerland have to get these punishments especially Huggel shouldn't be in World Cup 2006.

and what do you think?

also i guess all of you heard the director/chairman (idk which one is true) of FIFA.he asserted ,WITHOUT any reports from observers, referees, etc, that Turkey will be punished and Turkey violated fair-play,etc. that statement was very very interesting as well as wrong.he can say these words if he was a spectator but he CANNOT blame Turkey without any reports.

He said that they will look for different recordings of the incident and that they will listen what the players say.

Obviously there happened some things in which Turkish players were involved, such as a Swiss player being injured. Another rather strange thing is that camera men that tried to take any pics were pushed away, so you don't see anything.

But I don't think it's an intelligent statement that Turkey are going to be punished before the investigations started, especially not because he is Swiss. But I don't think that he is wrong. And if I remember correctly Blatter said that some Swiss players that were involved might as well get punished.

we just want to be treated fairly...

exactly right... prejudices, yes most of the Europeans have prejudices towards Turkey, this thread showed it clearly again...but im repeating once more: if Turkey has nothing in common with Europe .i am really really sad about Europeans then.unlike your knowledge and thoughts of Turkey, we are the most hospitable nation in the world or one of the most.believe it or not...

by the way i think its nonsense to discuss that Swiss players did that English players/spectators did that,Turkish spectators/players did that, etc. because this kind of things always occur in every country.this wednesday was one of them.we were wrong and we will definetely be punished thats all.to carry this event to the politics is nonsense also...

that's the point..turkish people don't do something if nothing happens ( as all creatures in the world..) and i wanted you to come Turkey and see the real Turkish people.I am not talking about football fanatics..and please try to leave your prejudices!

Warning, Offtopic:

From what I've seen in our media, the turkish government is hurting many international aknowledged human rights. In this example, it's the freedom of press, but there are many more like the freedom of religion, or the right on life. A state which still uses the death penalty even for minor crimes (like drug-dealing) shouldn't ever be integrated in the european sovciety until it accepts and respects the International Bill of Human Rights.

I have nothing against the trukish people, but the whole state, the government, the law system is simply not suitable for the EU.

Couldn't have put it better myself! :smug:

^^ i think i couldnt get what you had meant.you mean in Turkey there isnt any freedom of press, freedom of religion, or the right on life??? and also do we have death penalty for minor crimes??i hope i understood wrongly. otherwise your writings are just funny to me (so sorry but it is), nothing much.please search more about Turkey and after write your opinions, please...we couldnt punish even Abdullah Öcalan-the head of terrorists who caused abt 40.000 Turkish people's death- with death penalty!!!still he is in jail.

yeah , please learn more .. there isn't death penalty in Turkey and even before the punishment was destroyed , nobody had this punishment for long years. But USA still do it, ha?

mc_squared,

lesson from England, who had many deaths in a foorball game(u invented the game and u calledd yourselves as europeans modern and killed people in a satidium just for a football match) that make me stop and think becuase no one killed in Turkey just for matches(international), i dont know the others very well.

and on the other hand Switzerland seem that very modern but i always say both side did mistake s u cant just blame us. if something didnt happened in Switzerland nothing would be happen here.

winnie,

by freedom of press in EU u see from the one side Swiss side.no one reads the Turkisk newspaper or something just u watch one programme and decide well interesting.i dont wanna be a part of that union anyway. just decide by looking 1 event...

you are talking about human rights. we saw how the human rights failed in France recently..So this situations can happen in everywhere..

excuse me, freedom of religion....

there are many many churcesh and sinagogs in Turkey. there are many Jewish and Christian people living here for MANY MANY long yars...

and also winnie, u r from Germany, well we all know i mean i think we know better than u that what is the freedom of religion, we don't have an Adolf Hitler!!!!!if u couldnt learnt it i am sorry for u...

freedom of religion and we dont know OH MY GOD i cant say anything more...

its unbelievable...

Erm, guys... I said, your government is hurting human rights, not that your country doesn't have any human rights! That's a faint difference!

And about the death penalty, yeah, that's right, they don't do it anymore since 2004, I didn't know that... but your government did this, because the EU wanted them to do this - that's the right way, but there are still things, your government has to manage...

And please don't use Adolf Hitler as a stupid argument... That's 60 years ago, that's history! I don't know, why you're so pissed now? That was just my opinion which was formed by the german media!

It's a fact, that people's opinion is formed by the media, and that's what most people here think about turkey (at least in my environment)...

^I agree. There appeared to be a lot of overreacting going on!!

And using AH in that way is pathetic in this day and age.......................it's what's happening NOW that counts!

you are right.but countries live with their history and histories-whenever they took place- cannot be forgotten.we cannot change it.for example the so-called Armenian genocide is still being discussed. but i dont mean that its true to argue Hitler now.

i dont agree, that people's opinion is formed by the media.yes media plays a big role but people dont have to believe all things they heard.especially we young people must be more careful i think when we are stating our opinions.we should search and search especially when we are talking about a nation.shouldnt we????

you are right.but countries live with their history and histories-whenever they took place- cannot be forgotten.we cannot change it.for example the so-called Armenian genocide is still being discussed.

thats why I used AH ex.

It's a fact, that people's opinion is formed by the media, and that's what most people here think about turkey (at least in my environment)...

I think what makes human beings different from robots is to decide and think by ourselves..! We are at age of to see all that shown to us is not true , some of them can serve the benefits and aims of some groups and people! The right way is search , and be careful before having certain ideas!!

And winnie , one more thing , before the death penalty was destroyed nobody had this punishment for 20 years ( even the head of terrorists..) so it was just a formal change..

Turkey to play next six official home matches behind closed doors on neutral ground – Sanctions imposed on various individuals

Zurich, 7 February 2006 - The FIFA Disciplinary Committee met at FIFA headquarters in Zurich on Monday, 6 February and Tuesday, 7 February 2006 to discuss the incidents that occurred in connection with the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ preliminary competition match between Turkey and Switzerland in Istanbul on 16 November 2005.

Under the chairmanship of deputy chairman Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (Bahrain), the committee, sitting as the body of first instance, passed the following decisions:

In the main proceedings against the Turkish Football Federation:

- the Turkish Football Federation is ordered to play its next six official home matches behind closed doors in a neutral venue in another country affiliated to UEFA with a minimum distance of 500km to the Turkish border. The Turkish Football Federation is ordered to pay all organisational costs with regard to these six matches.

- a fine in the amount of CHF 200,000 (+ procedural costs of CHF 20,000).

In the individual proceedings against:

a) Alpay Ozalan (Turkey, player)

- a suspension of six official matches of his representative team. This suspension is carried over to the representative team's next official matches.

- a fine of CHF 15,000 (+ procedural costs of CHF 1,000)

b) Emre Belozoglu (Turkey, player)

- a suspension of six official matches of his representative team. This suspension is carried over to the representative team's next official matches.

- a fine of CHF 15,000 (+ procedural costs of CHF 1,000)

c) Serkan Balci (Turkey, player)

- a suspension of two official matches of his representative team. This suspension is carried over to the representative team's next official matches.

- a fine of CHF 5,000 (+ procedural costs of CHF 500)

d) Mehmet Ozdilek (Turkey, assistant coach)

- a ban from taking part in any football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other activity), within associations, confederations or FIFA for 12 months as from notification of this decision.

- a fine of CHF 15,000 (+ procedural costs of CHF 1,000)

e) Benjamin Huggel (Switzerland, player)

- a suspension of six official matches of his representative team. This suspension is carried over to the representative team's next official matches.

- a fine of CHF 15,000 (+ procedural costs of CHF 500)

f) Stephan Meyer (Switzerland, physiotherapist)

- a suspension of two official matches of his representative team. This suspension is carried over to the representative team's next official matches.

- a fine of CHF 6,500 (+ procedural costs of CHF 500)

The decisions will now be sent to the relevant parties and will be followed up with a detailed, reasoned explanation within the next thirty days.

With the exception of the decisions against Serkan Balci and Stephan Meyer, all other first-instance decisions passed by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may be taken to the FIFA Appeal Committee before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne may be called upon to act as the body of final instance in accordance with the FIFA Statutes.

fair enough... ;)

^don't agree...

- the Turkish Football Federation is ordered to play its next six official home matches behind closed doors in a neutral venue in another country affiliated to UEFA with a minimum distance of 500km to the Turkish border. The Turkish Football Federation is ordered to pay all organisational costs with regard to these six matches.

why no spectators? they werent rude.and 6-matches punishment is too much...

b) Emre Belozoglu (Turkey, player)

- a suspension of six official matches of his representative team. This suspension is carried over to the representative team's next official matches.

thats not fair, too...

i think and hope these ones will change.the others may be ok.

These punishments are not fair! 6 matches without spectators! What about the Swiss provocateurs? They are just one-sided decisions , congrats!

I think the punishments are fair enough. Turkey can be content that they got the allowance to play the qualification matches of the EM 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

English clubs for example were not allowed to play in European football matches for a couple of years, because of Hooligan violence in the Middle 90's.
