My first post here... I am curious, is there a 4th album being released, I see it on the web page on the top, but can't find info about.

Yes there will! Apparently it'll be ''darker and heavier'' according to Chris Martin. We'll have to wait and see.

Well from what I've heard they have, and will continue to, work on it on tour. I think that especially during the next American-leg of the tour they will spend some time in the studio. As you can see some of their tour schedule seems to be a bit open.

They were saying initially that the new album could be out as early as spring, but realistically I would say at the very earliest they'd release it at the end of 2006, as you hypothesized, but with Chris having another kid in the spring and the tour going into the summer etc ... it'll probably be 2007 before a new album drops!

ahh thats just typical Chris ... the band, especially him always worry about releases, i'm sure that Coldplay's fourth album will be stunning but it is very premature to be talking about it now unfortunately ;)

Chris never has too many high expectations, and when thats the case something great comes out :D

Yea let's hold on about talking about something which hasn't been created :P :P

I think it'd be good if they release it in a few years 'cause then it gives people that anticipation then everybody will wanting to buy it when it comes out, see?

That doesn't worry me at all. I think it means they're not going to go corporate again. Not that I don't like X & Y (it's my favorite CP album) but I do think it is little more than an AROBTTH clone, a record meant to make money and keep CP in a holding pattern. They really need to change if they're going to keep the respect of music critics and fans down the road, and not just be another worthless pop band. I'm not saying that's what they are, but if they're not careful, they could easily become that.

I think each album has shown improvement.

 

Parachutes was so slow and mellow... then on AROBTTH we got songs such as Politik, In My Place... much more upbeat and "rock" sounding. Then X&Y was very spacial or celestial.

 

I have high hopes for the next album. Coldplay wouldn't dissapoint us.

That's a good point. I guess it's that way for all big bands like CP.

I hope they dont go all radiohead and change their sound drastically with techno babble and such. Love Kid A, but I wouldnt want coldplay to go that route.

I thought I heard that they were going to record the 4th album out on the road, kinda like what Switchfoot did with thier newest release. So if that is the truth I wouldn't be surprised if it is released earlier than expected.
