Black Coldplay Fans???

Featured Replies

There are over 18,000 registered users on this forum. I was wondering if I'm the only black Coldplay fan here. It wouldn't bother me if I am, but if not, I'm curious to know what peoples reactions are when they find out you're into Coldplay.

Personally, I get alot of raised eyebrows when people discover the kind of music I listen to, and not just Coldplay.

I'd also thought about this a few times, as I have quite a lot of few black friends and none of them like Coldplay/Coldplay's style in music.

Hero, i think its cool :)

^^ THANK YOU!

Hero, I think it's bloody cool to have you here. I read your comments and I really liked them.

Well, I think raised eyebrows are due to the stereotypes of black people. I hate that, really. I mean people expect black guys to listen rnb and rap or something all the time. This is just pathetic!

Down with stupid narrow minded arseholes

Yeah its just a common stereotype and people are always shocked when someone breaks the mould. But i think its pretty cool, and admirable. :)

^Ditto!!

However, I'd be interested to know whether there are any PURPLE Coldplay fans around!! :P

One of my friends, who happens to be black, is big into Coldplay. She mostly listens to R&B, but in addition to Coldplay she's really into Maroon 5 and John Mayer.

Also, you guys know the R&B singer Brandy? She samples "Clocks" on her most recent album and in another song named "I Tried," part of the lyrics are "I think I want to hear some Coldplay" and she goes on to sing a little bit of "Sparks." I thought the way she worked "Sparks" into her own song was awesome, and she gets points with me for the risk.

^Yeah, i remember getting her album a few years back and thinking that was soooo cool!

im not surpised as such but what i think is black people usually like rap,rnb etc,as that is the music that originates from parts of countrys that they come from....im guessing

I was wondering if I'm the only black Coldplay fan here.

Shit I was just wondering that myself only yesterday, when I opened up my copy of this week's NME only to discover I was the only black person in the audience at Earls Court....

I have evidence...

Talk about 'spot the black'.
