Reilly
Yep, damn. This is definately over now. Full marks to Baghdatis though, he really did make a go at this. Federer just won
Ondes Martenot
well, his greatness is unwriteable...maybe he is better than Sampras was ever, and he is still young.he is like a machine never tired

bonnie2789
baghdatis did so well though. he's really made a name for himself throughout this aus open and no doubt he will be one to watch over the next few years ;)
Ondes Martenot
at least a russian girl won the girls' juniors :juggle: and Hingis won the mixed final...well that's unbelievable :stunned: she also did well in single
Reilly
Baghdatis didnt thank his beautiful girlfriend  Federer wont dominate this game, if he had have been around 10 or 15 years ago he would have taken just about every record (Even with Sampras and Aggasi at their best). But with players like Roddick, Hewitt, Safin, and about 5-6 other huge talents, Federer will be knocked down at some hurdles. I dont expect him to do THE Grand Slam this year, as I dont see him taking the French.
Ondes Martenot
Rolland Garros is totally different.maybe Nadal will win it or a French, another Spanish players have chances as well.Roger will go till quarter-,or semi-finals heh...i've never seen Federer crying before :stunned: Roddick was good till he became a pop-star,i also don't understand why he changed his trainer last year, heh, but he is still one of my faves.and Safin of course,i cannot dislike him  but he became very lazy in the last time. i think Nadal can be a big opponent for Federer,he is good at hard grounds as well
Reilly
How could I have forgotten to mention Nadal? Yes of course, huge talent, only 19, he's gonna jump all over Federer's toes.
ultracold
Yes of course, huge talent, only 19, he's gonna jump all over Federer's toes. yup, Nadal is huge talent, but there's still a long way to go before he finally overleaps Federer. Hewitt and Roddick are great players, but maybe not No.1 type. They're now merely pretenders to Federer's throne. well, maybe Safin is one of the few ones who are likely to beat Federer. BTW, not until last year's tennis masters' cup in Shanghai did i begin to notice the guy called Nalbandian. Amazing Agentine! he beat Federer in the final and snatched the Cup from Federer right after the latter is officially awarded World No.1 of 2005. and the fact is Nalbandian did better than Federer when in youthhood! So, GO NADAL! GO SAFIN! GO NALBANDIAN! the worst of male tennis is making a Swiss guy play against himself!
Reilly
Obviously no-one in today's tennis world can compete with Federer. If he was to play Roddick 5 times a row, he'd probably win all 5 convincingly. The same thing if he was to play Nadal, Hewitt and Safin. BUT- its the mix of having to play a whole tournament and eventually coming up against these players of such original mix of play, he will lose some of them. I'm just saying that Federer will not win every match until the end of his career. Usually when a player steps out above his competition, the competition catches up, we've seen this already evolutionise in tennis with the Williams sisters being blown away by just about everything on the court. In the last year Federer has stamped his domination, he's no longer just a wonderful talent he IS the game (We should be greatful he's here etc. etc.). But in 3 or 4 years Safin and Nadal will be just as good in range of shots.
bonnie2789
i could stare at safin all day :wideeyed: and i could watch federer cry all day  it was so beautifullllllll :uhoh: haha

Reilly
Haha bonnie so true! I felt the exact same. Federer was so cool and collected, showing no emotion. And Baghdatis looked like it would mean the world to win the title, but Federer didnt show these signs, he looked as if he just wanted another Grand Slam to add to his belt. But as soon as he actually won Match Point he looked overwhelmed and overjoyed. Being beside his idol Rod Laver and having won the grand slam, crying was the only way he could show how much it all meant to him. He barely managed to thank many people which also shows just how overwhelmed he was, it was a beautiful moment. What a guy.
bonnie2789
exactly! he was so calm (a bit TOO calm) and everything; i was wondering throughout the game whether he cared AT ALL for this final. i was so shocked when he was doing his speech though. i'm glad he did cry but. it made everyone realise that this did actually mean alot to him. it was so touchiinngggg  haha
shallumstuart
or maybe! just maybe, he fake cried so everyone would think that and we'd all love him again and forget about baghdatis...
