Oh my God! Sharapova is pulling back the final set against Henin to 5-4, Sharapova serving!

This is a very, very rare thing.

God damnit!

Henin broke that game. I thought for once, somebody would pull back 5-2 for once, but nope.

woahh did you watch the whole match?

that was a good match man. :idea2:

It was excellent! One of the best Grand Slam matches I've seen. And Clijster's vs Mauresmo was too! People say 'If Clijsters hadn't broke her ankle it would have been great' but seeing how dramatic and unexpected it was, and it came in the final set at 3-3 when you just didnt know what was going to happen.. It was so dramatic. Clijsters was beginning to show signs of fatigue, and it seemed it had to be either her injured back or injured hip, and then suddenly her ankle crumbles, who the hell could've anticipated that?

Poor girl.

Yeah Nik, Nalbandian vs Baghdatis! Best match of this Men's tournament, for pure emotion. The actual play was very entertaining at times, there were some amazing points for the highlights reel, but it wasnt consistent enough, the fact that Nalbandian just kept slipping kinda made the victory a little less spectacular. It was still fantastic viewing though, I watched all like 4 hours of it? I mean first the fireworks go off in the middle of it, just as Baghdatis started to pull away in the 2nd set, it completely threw him off and it all seemed over at 5-1 -and then he pulls it back! Unbelievable. Into the end of the 4th and then the 5th there was a lot of 'How the hell did he do that?!' Baghdatis moments, a few for Nalbandian too. But then with 3 points left for Baghdatis, the rain starts absolutely pouring! I was just laughing, I couldnt believe it, definately a great sports moment because it was a feeling of, what could possibly happen next?

Yesterday was a great tennis day.

i had to go to school at 5-4 in the last set  haven't seen the end of the game :( this cyprian guy doing well, but i think no chances for him against Federer (i think he will beat Kiefer).but we'll see  Henin against Mauresmo, for me it's not very interesting,i think Mauresmo was lucky against Kim (see injury),and Masha  damn...hope Justine will win it

yay! Chinese players won the Women's doubles!

the two amazing gals, Zheng Jie and Yan Zi beat top seeds Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur in the final and they won China's first ever Grand Slam title!

the title is a huge present for all Chinese for the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on Jan 29.

i dont think many people do watch women's doubles, but you know, uh, if you were Chinese you would know how i'm feeling!

aww poor henin-hardenne retired in the final. gosh that would suck to have to do that...

congrats to mauresmo though.

Mauresmo was lucky against Kim and against Justine as well, but she deserved it.congrats

Mauresmo only had to finish 4 matches out of what should be 7 (And of course faced 2 players who retired in the final 2 important matches), but I still dont think she was lucky.

The way she was playing against other people in matches when they didnt retire says to me that she was every bit as good as Clijsters and really, much better then Henin Hardenne.

Justine played excellently against Sharapova but her earlier matches were shaky.

Kim Clijsters really had just as much of a chance as Amelie, but the way Mauresmo played both of her final matches was very impressive. She wasnt using the flair tactics of brilliance, she was focusing on her game and how to use it against her opponent, and that's how people win tournaments.

Mauresmo will keep this going, I'm sure.

I watched it! :D I was going for them because they seemed the underdog's but they played great. So fast too around the net.

Anyone looking forward to tonight's Men's final? I fucking am!

Federer vs Baghdatis will hopefully be very exciting!

I dont even want to jinx it with my personal opinion-, oh what the hell. It's not like my opinion changes the universe ( :stunned: ).

Well I think Federer will most likely steam roll over this guy, and it will be unfortunate to see because Baghdatis is definately one for the future, once he gets his game properly together. It all really depends on how Federer comes out...

I say Federer will 'most likely' win because there is a chance he'll come out as the Roger Federer who can be a bit shaky in the final stages of close someone down- and this would suit Baghdatis more then anything. He feeds off that final chance to come back, and he may just take it.

Kiefer, Davydenko and Haas all had chances to take it to Federer but they werent consistent enough in play. Baghdatis has always had a consistent level of play (When he can keep focussed) and this would deter Federer if he got into any holes.

Against Haas, Federer let him in, and yes he did eventually win the game in the last 2 sets by 6-0 6-2, but there were a hell of a lot of long rally's. Against Davydenko, yes Davydenko is a top 5 player but wasn't at his best, yet the final sets had to be won by tense tie breakers.

Of course against Kiefer in the semi finals, Federer got comfortable in the 3rd set, let him in, and all of a sudden it's a tense battle to the end where Kiefer's concentration slipped and led Federer to a 6-2 final set- but that wouldn't happen with Baghdatis. His concentration doesnt slip at such moments, it intensifies.

Its about 2 hours until that very final :D

This is really turning out to be wonderful!

Federer isn't even playing badly (Which is the only way I thought I'd see a good match) a few unforced errors early on but hes settled in very well. Baghdatis is just playing simple tennis, he's just playing his own game.

This is resulting in Federer being very uncomfortable. Baghdatis just has a wicked defensive game so far.

1st set- Federer 5 Baghdatis 6

Baghdatis just broke serve for the 2nd time and now is serving for the 1st set :D

yeahhh... Federer's having some trouble...

  • Author

Its because he wasnt planning on competing with such a strong defensive game, and with Baghdatis he is so incredible at getting across to shots that most people wouldnt have a chance- and he returns to Federer's feet nearly every time.

Its magical defence. Federer is making some unforced errors and silly shots because he's over shooting.

Anyway, if anyone out there is reading this GET TO YOUR NEAREST TELEVISION SET for some amazing tennis.

Baghdatis leads 1 set to 0 :D

unfortunetly, have to go to work soon... can't watch the whole match...

i'm watching it on the swiss channel... swiss are getting scared...

  • Author

They should be ;)

  • Author

Damn you Baghdatis, you coulda held that.

Getting 1st serves in are vital during those moments...

i think Federer's ball at 5-5 and 30-30 was out :/ that wasn't an ace, maybe Baghdatis could win the 2nd as well, but he was too nervous after...and now 3-0 in 3rd... :uneasy:

  • Author

Well I'm thinking this is all but over, but who knows.

Well, I also think Federer will win the game in a few minutes. :D

Baghdatis isn't ready mentally yet for big matches, but i think in the few years he'll be one of the top tennis players

  • Author

:stunned: Baghdatis is making a go at this, really

If he can break Federer here it'll be 4-3 with Baghdatis to serve.
