my two cents on the recording.

 

i was at this festival but was watching another band while kasabian was on stage. i only caught the last few songs of their set. but from listening to this they didnt perform the songs as well as they could have. the singer seemed at times flat and lazy and his continuous attempts to get the crowd going were a little annoying. in my opinion a truly great live band doesnt need to rile up the crowd, if the music is good enough the crowd will react voluntarily. But Fire and Fast Fuse sounded great.

I completely agree re the having to work the crowd up, I really noticed it listening to the show on the radio. But when I was actually at their live show in Jan this year I think he only did it once or twice, that I noticed at least - but then the crowd was electric. I'm guessing that it's maybe just because it was a festival slot and most people weren't there to see them specifically.

And about the Tom-geeing-up-the-crowd-thing - it's what he does, it's all part of Tom being Tom. "Let me see your fucking hands" he does it all the time, even when the crowd are already up for it, he pushes them on a little further. Tom's voice sounds amazing on this...but then I am a little biased :uhoh:
