I really rather like the first track, Let's Roll Like We Used To, tho I'd love it a whole lot more if Tom wasn't doing his best Liam Gallagher impression on it :lol:

 

Days of Forgotten we've already heard of course. J'adore.

 

Goodbye Kiss is a bit Gary Barlow, but I really like it. Very un-Kasabian-like, but in a good way. The strings are great.

 

La Fee Verte is lush. I love the lyrics about seeing Dali and policemen and Lucy in the sky and all that. A perfect Serge song, you couldn't imagine anyone else singing this, even Tom.

 

I keep skipping Velociraptor, partly cos I've heard it already and it seems to me like one of those songs that is fucking phenomenal live, but on record, it seems a bit cartoony :shrug:

 

Acid Turkish Bath is insane. I like the way the vocals overlap and that Serge's vocal doesn't sound as snake-like as usual (I don't know how else to describe it)

 

I Hear Voices - bit of Daft Punk going on there. This is one of my faves at the moment, I like the way that it's a bit chilled and Tom's voice is quite sexy. And I like the lyrics - did he really just mention Yosemite Sam..? :\ And The Grinch..? :awesome:

 

Re-wired is more like classic Kasabian, in a way. Like something off the first album. I like it, but the synths sound a little basic on this one.

 

Man of Simple Pleasures is pretty, seems a bit dull on first impression but definitely a grower. I love this one.

 

I'm not sure about Switchblade Smiles now, maybe I've over-played it but I compare it to the rest of the album and it seems a bit weak in some way that I can't quite put my finger on. In terms of songwriting quality, I don't think it quite lives up to the others. I don't dislike it, but it's not one of my faves

 

Neon Noon is pretty mellow. Sounds a bit John Lennon at times. And then, randomly, all goes a bit Tron :lol: It's good tho.

 

Overall tho, I do think there's too much of Serge's strangled cat yodel. It's over-done. Surely, he doesn't need the argh-ah-ah-ah-ha-aaaaa thing on every flippin' song. There's a lot of strings on this album, int there? Reminds me of the Empire lp in that way, which is great but I'd have liked a bit more guitar overall.

 

There's a lot of people calling it their best album yet, it's too early yet for me to agree with that, but it's definitley a contender. :thumbsup:
