ok education is important. but what i don't understand is the fact that we need to learn things that we won't even use in life like history!

i think education is very important to anyone, but you shouldn't understand education as school, there are so many ways to get "educated".

anyway, i graduated and went to university, because the job i wanted to do (and am now doing, which is being a teacher) required it. and i don't regret it for a second!

i love learning, and still do it when i have time, even if i don't "need" to, no exams any more !! just for plesure :D

Education that is given to us by government institutes (school) is worthless as all get out. There are kids being educated my different systems in other countries and they are more advanced and prepared for what the "real world" has to offer.

 

I have many friends that were home schooled and he spent his spare time learning all this crazy stuff, he taught himself spanish and a bunch of computer stuff..all by himself..in his own time, and by the time he was liek 18-19.. it was like he already had 4 years of college/uni training.

 

And it is not like he is a "natural"genius or anything ..he just set himself to it. Anyone could do it...but our given option is...go to school...learn there and you wil be ready and prepared. But most college/uni don't help much..only to look good on resumes or applications. Trade schools are way better. And learning things in your own time.

i'm getting a degree which is mostly important for taking care of a family... if it was just me i'd get whatever job i wanted, but i've got to make cash so my kids will be taken care of

He.......yeah....of course.....but there are sometimes subjects which you can only study at university and those subjects need much knowledge......but if you have finished studying........then those subjects are often the ones you can hardly find a job....somehow not fair....

Sooo true. I don't know how many times I've heard, "There are no jobs in that" or "Why are you taking that? You can't make any money" about just about every major subject there is. I am a psych major and I hear it all the time.

 

I've heard it for everything -- history, english, even the sciences like chem or bio. People are so discouraging. It's like you have to have an education to be anything, but the question is how do you become something? :rolleyes:

I have no idea what i'm gonna studdy at college though

education, sure.. im at school right now.... uhm.

I think education is important but not like my life depends on it. Right now I'm in the first year of upper secondary school and after that I'd like to go abroad and work for maybe a year, or study, and then come back and study photographing here in Sweden. But I'm not sure what I want to do yet at all, this are just things that would be nice to do. Thank god, I still have some time to decide what to really do with my life

Education is important i think.

I'm studying Nutrition & dietetics at the moment, it's a difficult study and i don't know yet if i really like it :confused: So maybe i have to choose an other study

I think I'm going to study Economics, don't know why, but I love that subject. I think the school you go to partially decides what the rest of your life will look like, so I really think it's important.
