Help me achieve my goal

Hey everyone. I know people have talked about this before, but I just wanted to ask you guys who have already gone to coldplay's recent concerts some questions.

1. What is the best way to sneak in a small digital camera. My gf and I are going to the orlando show, and she has a small camera with a strap. What I'm planning to do is what i've heard from other people. I will put the camera in my pants, and tie the strap to my belt, and let the camera dangle in my pants. Then when I get inside I will take it out. Now, when you guys brought in your cameras, was the security tight? Did security have handheld metal detectors. I dont want the camera to be taken by them.

2. If you got one of the cameras that coldplay throws out into the crowd, how did you happen to get it? Where were you standing? How many do they give away? When do they throw them out?

3. During Talk, chris usually grabs someones cell phone and calls one of your contact numbers. Now, for the Tampa concert, I have general admission. There are no seats in gen admission for tampa. It is standing. I will be showing up at the earliest possible time to make sure I get right in front. Where is the best spot to be for chris to grab my phone, lol? Where has he grabbed peoples phones before? Left side of the stage, or the right side. I'm probably leaning more on being on jonny's side.

4. I would like to bring a tape player of some kind to record the Orlando and Tampa concerts. Will a regular tape recorder work well? My gf has a pretty nice one that she uses to record her professors talking in class. Any info on how to do this would be nice.

I know this is kind of a lot to ask, but I've been waiting for these concerts for months, and I just want to make it the best experience ever. If you can give me info on any of my questions, that would be great.

1. How big is the digi cam? I know some people that actually put the cam in their crotch area (lol..) if it fits, because some venues have security pat around your pant legs. I suppose you could leave the strap dangling down since (depending on how thick it is) they won't feel it much.

2. Two cameras are thrown if I'm not mistaking, Guy throws on and Jonny throws another. So one from the left side and one from the right side. They throw them at the end of The Scientist, while the recording of The Scientist is playing backwards.

3. I've no idea. I've always thought this was chance and luck, but it wouldn't hurt to be right in the middle and being in the first or second row so Chris could reach you. I've also heard that Chris only takes flip phones because other types can be locked and such, so borrow someone's flip if you don't have one!

4. What type of recorder is it? Ordinary recorders aren't really enough to handle all the noise and amps and bass from a concert.. I recorded my show (West Palm Beach) last year with a regular small recorder and the audio is *horrid*. (A friend recorded it with her ipod and it was also terrible.) I can only more or less hear during the acoustic set because everyone was quiet and the guys weren't using much instruments.

Hope that helps a little. And don't forget to post pics and any recordings! I'm going to the Orlando show too!! :D

Hey, thanks for giving me that info. The camera is pretty small. It is a Canon SD400. Were there handheld metal detectors used at the west palm show? I have a flip phone! I'm in the 4th row in orlando though  . But maybe in Tampa I'll get lucky. Yea its just a regular tape recorder. I wont bring it then. I'll probably go on jonny's side.

Ooh.. I googled it, nice cam! :D Is it professional though? I think the only cams that are prohibited are the professional ones. And there weren't any handheld detectors at WPB, they just checked the girls purses and the guys got a brief pat-down.

No, its not professional, but it is a very good camera. Really good quality. I think it was around $300. My gf got it for christmas. Yea, I dont think they will have metal detectors at Orlando or Tampa. Hopefully not. Otherwise I'm gonna have to go back to my car and put the camera back, lol.

Nah you won't! Cameras are allowed, just not professional ones. Right?! Every other CP show has allowed cams so this one better be the same.. I'm taking my digi cam in too! Can't wait :cool3:

How are you bringing the camera in? Are you just gonna hold it?

Also, if anyone else has info, I'd appreciate it.

Here's a quick setup of the where they threw them in Cinn.

Intials are the band members

Red Xes are where they threw cameras

aqua X is me. lol

Yellow rectangle is the keyboard (where it sits) they use during acoustic session between the stage and the barrier.

yellow X is where they sit for the acoustic session.

( just in case you wanted to know)

Chris is only on that half circle part of the stage singing with the mic when he is not on the piano or playing guitar on the back part of the stage.

Obviously this is not to scale. oh and that same red X to my right also got to touch Chris' hand and caught Will's drumsticks.

here's will taking some pics.

awesome info!

Where I went in Oakland...we didn't even get searched...the security guards scared the shit out of me beforehand when they yelled out that digicams weren't allowed.

After all the panicing...all i had to do was give the lady my ticket, get it scanned and walk on by.

but i dunno if theyll search at orlando / tampa

Did you get your "camera down the pants" idea from me? haha, I talked about that so much, I'm not surprised people are using that method more often. It's only the BEST way to get a camera in...because unless they grab your crotch (which would be rather extreme), they'll never notice.

Unless you're seeing Coldplay in jail, metal detectors won't be there.

Thanks Marisa. That was really helpful, and awesome design, lol. If you were the aqua X, how did you get the camera, and the drumsticks? Did you just dive for them? Yea Jason, it was probably you I heard that from, lol. I dont think there will be metal detectors, and I'll bring my camera anyway. If there are metal detectors, I guess I'll just go back to the car and put my camera away.

If anyone else has more info to add, share your stories!

clockpolitiks,

Oh I didn't catch the camera, didn't get drumsticks or get to touch Chris. The Red X ( some girl) to my right did. she was one person down from me. IF only I was that lucky! I was too short when Chris was reaching into the crowd and I was not at a good location to catch any camera.

But what I was implying was thatt the Red X is a great spot to be in.think.

Just off center.

OH I did forget to mention about the finger tape!

I caught the green one. I believe it was after In My Place, right before he goes to the piano for Fix You. Chris leans over and pulls them off and just drops them. Have your hands ready! because they might fall in between the stage and the barrier! I had to have the security guard hand it to me, when it fell.

ok sorry long post!

:)

Let's see...all the coldplay concerts i've been to, security wasn't at all tight about the cameras...infact...one time, at the san diego show on 8.26.05, my sister brought in a Digital Video Camcorder. i was at the arrowhead pond recently and they threw cameras in the red x's where that guy posted cept, the first anaheim show, chris threw it like farther...so it's really just a wild card. And for Talk, smack dab in the middle...i personally, think the cameras are cooler...but to have chris martin touch your phone and talk to the person on the other end...epic. pretty much front center is where it's at...if you get those, you're good. rant rant rant...sorry

Thanks for sharing! I will most likely be front center at the tampa show.

THey allow cameras in, you're allowed to take pictures. You shouldn't have a problem, just hold it as you go in.
