Should I Get A Guitar?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to teach myself to play the guitar since my parents bought me one a few years ago. I had lessons but it didn't work out.

Is there any good sites with the basics of learning how the play the acoustic/classic guitar?

Thanks in advance.

ahhh i think mxtabs.net has online lessons but i dunno how good it is

My brother took guitar lessons years ago, so I've been using his old books. If you really wanted to learn, you could probably just go to a music store and ask them what a good begginner book is. I have yet to find anything decent on the net.

I bought an electric acoustic about 6 months ago, I did have 6 lessons to start me off which were ok, but not gone back since. The real learning is done by yourself. My advice is find 2 or three songs you really like and are simple to play, there is loads out there. Once you start playing a sound which you like you will go from strength to strength really quick. I find myself returning to songs I really liked by could never even begin to play, and now they seem much easier. There are some good free tabs about (and some bad ones).

If you want official music have a look at http://www.sheetmusicdirect.com they are good and you get to see the first page of each song. So if you think you can play the intro and part of first verse well then you can see the rest of the song will probably be of the same difficulty.

good luck, my guitar is one of the best things i have ever bought.

ok ive decided to get an acoustic guitar - and am allowed to spend within £100. what's the best acoustic that much money can buy?

Well, my best friends bought me a guitar for my birthday last December and I've been teaching myself since then. I love it! It's an acoustic Epiphone AJ model - I think Epiphone is a good make, Martins are the "high-end" acousitcs IMO. My friend has a Fender acoustic, which is a little cheaper, but still very good quality.

ok i bought a guitar- but wen i play the only chord i know so far - G major - the bottom E and high E strings at either end dont really play properly - like wen i strum they dont move. is this a bad guitar or is just me? i also kinda have some unwanted vibration type noises . should i change guitar or is it because im still learning and its my first day lol.

lol that happens a lot you just gotta practice i guess and try more finger pressure to avoid vibrations and keep your fingers close to the frets that usually helps. are you teaching yourself?

If you can play...........
