Brokeback Mountain Original Score Oscar

Featured Replies

COMPLETE BULL!!!

John William's scores were both incredible (Memoirs and Munich). On Memoirs you've got Yo-yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman playing together on such a beautiful score, with that perfect sense of Japanese culture. Its a true gem in this century's original scores. Munich captured the tension of the audience so well, and John Williams really helped that out. Its one of his finer suspense scores over the years.

Then ya got Brokeback Mountain by whoever that guy is. Sure it was really simple and went with the movie well, but dang. Simple just doesn't cut it, especially if the same theme is repeated over and over and over again in the film. I dunno. If anyone else has a different opinion on this I'd definitely like to hear it. I just feel like that score winning was such a mistake over the other really great scores.

I don't know, I really loved the music from that movie. I think it's almost classic now. As opposed to the other themes, I really don't know them at all... Brokeback Mountain's theme was in my head before I even saw the movie. Sure, it may have been bastardized by stupid comics, but it's still incredibly beautiful.

John William's is brilliant, though. I'm surprised he didn't get anything for Star Wars. And Itzhak is a friggin' GENIUS. That performance made the entire show. Wow.

Yeah Itzhak rocked :D. Can a score so simple, though, win an oscar like that? Thats just like Million Dollar Baby getting its score nominated last time. I mean comon (no offense Mr. Eastwood) but if you listen to the score on iTunes, its like a broken record

hmmm... i really like gustavo santaolalla's composited songs for Brokeback mountain and i think that he deserves this year's award :) so i also bought the soundtrack (and was maybe a little bit disappointed ... there r only a few instrumental songs. but it's also fine :) )

so, when i read your post, motoi, and saw that u had mentioned john williams's soundtrack for munich i decided to got it and gave it a chance :) and wow ... it's also good. i reallly like the guitar sound in the songs (as in the gustav's songs) ... especially the tenth song, named "Avner's Theme" ! but i have to confess that it's not easy to estimate the soundtrack if u havent even seen the movie ... sometimes u need both, picture and sound... i hope u understand what i want to tell u :) so i'll go to see this movie soon... i've heard a lot of good critics about it.

btw: i also wonder why Harry Gregson-Wiliams didnt get the nomination for the project for "The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" ... i really like it and it's also very melodical and full of emotions :) i think that his songs helped a lot to the movie's success :) cuz it wasnt that good in my opinion ... but it was great to awaken the old memories from the childhood... when we all watched the cartoon :) but i'm sure that younger population likes it :)

so, what do u think about Harry Gregson-Wiliams ? should he have deserved the nomination :D if u havent heard the soundtrack yet, give it a chance :)

sorry bcuz of my english (i still work hard on it :P )

my opinion
