Twisted Logic ¿World? Tour

Featured Replies

I have many things to say now that I feel very disappointed with the recent decision of Coldplay definitely not coming to Mexico (and/or Latin América) on this tour. This has been confirmed on the Q&A section of the official site, here's the question with its disappointing answer:

QUESTION: hi debs, someone just asked whether the band is coming to Mexico and you said "it's not possible at this time"... did you mean it's not possible today or tomorrow or will they just skip Mexico on this whole tour??? what did we do to deserve this kind of snubbing??? big bands are coming to mexico lately like U2 and the rolling stones... heck even james blunt is coming to Mexico in april!!! :(

ANSWER: "not possible, today, tomorrow, next month etc....i did also say, coldplay will not make it to Mexico on this tour, it's not a snub, it's just the way it's worked out. i feel bad for you, but there is nothing anyone can do to change it, so please note i will not reply to this q further. i understand it's been a disappointment for all, but there is nothing new to say, i am truly sorry."

What I can say it's that it becomes very annoying to hear Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland (but specially Chris) saying that they're coming to Mexico and Latin America on at least 3 interviews, that they will record and release the Live DVD in Mexico, that it's one of the 4 best places of the world to play (scotland, ireland, iceland and mexico), that we're the best crowd they've ever had and the tour ends without any LatAm or Mexican dates, and they still call the Twisted Logic tour a "world" tour?? come on, be realist, and be honest coldplay! you didn't want to waste a single penny and rather avoided thousands (maybe millions) of fans who were waiting for you over Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, etc. You sold out 2 shows at Sports Palace (which holds 25,000 people) in Mexico City last time you came here!! 50,000 people saw you!! and even a lot of people stood out of the venue, sadly, who wanted to see you... And now you just decide not to come, that easily... please stop calling the Twisted Logic tour a "world" tour, because it's not.

MAKE TOUR FAIR!!!!! surely the people who will see you in that great leg of 3 shows in Asia is not even a quarter of how many wanted to see you in Latin America, ah, but surely you'll say "Tokyo, you are the best crowd we've ever had, and just because of that, we will play a song that we've never played before, and gonna specially dedicate it to you. This is called Clocks".

Enough said, thanks for your attention.

PS: I love coldplay and all of their songs, but I hate them being so fake and dishonest. what's your opinion?

PS: I love coldplay and all of their songs, but I hate them being so fake and dishonest.

'Fake and dishonest'? They are, in my opinion, the most honest and genuine band out there. Especially considering the height of their fame. Just look around at other bands right now and that's fairly obvious.

Chris and Jonny have not been dishonest. I would think they had every intention of coming to Mexico, and probably really wanted to.

But stuff like this isn't always in their hands. Things change, for reasons that we do not, and will not know because we don't work with them.

Plus, Chris will have a new addition to his family very soon, and will be wanting to spend time at home.

I feel bad for you guys, I really do. If I was in your position I would be upset too. But there's no need to be harsh towards the band and say things like 'please stop calling the Twisted Logic tour a "world" tour, because it's not' - Look here at all the places they have played on this tour http://www.easytoplease.net/tour.php?page=tour2005 and tell me it's not a world tour.

They've been on tour for a long, long time now, and they have worked their asses off for their fans. So please don't be disrespectful to all their hard work and say it's not a world tour.

When did Chris or Jonny said that they were going to Mexico and film the live DVD there? I have most 2005/06 interviews and I have never heard them say that.. I know they have said that they'd like to tour there again, but when did they give a definite yes? Either way, it's not all up to the boys to decide where they tour. It's mostly up to the label.

I can understand your frustration (because I would be too) but I don't see how a band is disloyal because they didn't tour South America. They can't go everywhere. America, Canana, All over Europe, Australia, Asia... if that's not a world tour, I don't know what is.

A tour in promotion of some album is considered a WORLD tour if the tour itself gets to reach the 5 continents in all their sections, this tour has reached Europe, Australia, a very little part of Asia and Half of America, let's say 3.5 of the 5 continents, then, is it a 'world' tour? i guess not...

You can find the info about the visit to Mexico and the DVD on this interview, although it's in spanish: http://www.lahelice.com/infonoticias.php?id=7056. Also, they said the same thing about the visit and the DVD and the 'last time was great' and the '1 of the best 4 crowds over the world' phrases on an interview for Telehit (mexican music TV Channel), which I don't have on the computer at this time.

I just read the part you were refering to. I guess if anyone needs a translation it'd be something like:

"The Mexican public is the best one in the world, we are going there several times and make a DVD because some years ago the response we received was incredible."

While I definitely understand your frustration, this was said even before the album was released. (It's dated Sept 22 2005, but Chris says right at the end "It will be a very good album" indicating it wasn't yet released.) They probably wanted to go there, but it's not up to them. Though I actually believe they would've gone to South America if Chris didn't end up expecting another babe.

So what do you suggest them to name the tour? The Twisted Logic 3.5 world tour? Really. They went to about 30 states repeatedly..they can't go each one because there isn't a fanbase everywhere. 15 or so European countries repeatedly, Canada a number of times, Australia and Asia are up next. For almost 2 years. That's not enough to call it a world tour? Just because South America was excluded? Harsh.

wtf haha. that term 'world tour' is used loosely not literal. many artist say world tour and only go to america, europe and maybe somewhere else like canada.

...and they would lie, because it's not a full world thingy, good example!

I can assure you, there's more CP fans in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, etc. than in many US states, where they played for audiences as small as 10,000 and didn't sell-out some shows. Mexico City last time was sold out for two shows, 25,000 each, so the few-fans thing is not the reason, definitely.

I understand that Chris wants to be home with GP for a long time because of the birth of the 2nd child, but Coldplay have confirmed tour dates being the US last one April 6 in Philadelphia, and the next ones until June 11 at Isle of Wight and June 23 on Australia, so they have almost all of april, the whole May and some days of June all-free, in which they easily could have visited Latin America, let's say the schedule would be like this:

3 April: Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, NH

4 April: Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT

6 April: Wachovia Center, Philadelphia, PA

10 April: Arena Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico

13 April: Sports Palace, Mexico City

14 April: Sports Palace, Mexico City

18 April: River Plate Stadium, Bs As, Argentina

19 April: River Plate Stadium, Bs As, Argentina

22 April: Maracana Stadium, Río de Janeiro, Brazil

24 April: Morumbi Stadium, Sao Paulo, Brazil

27 April: ??, Caracas, Venezuela

29 April: ?? Santiago, Chile

May 2: ??, Bogota, Colombia

the venues are just what I think they'd be.

any other date? look, i left a lot of days between the dates!, that way Chris would have more than 1 month (around may 4 to june 7) to be Home with GP, Apple and the not-yet-born Lemon (if it's a boy) or Strawberry (if it's a girl) [JK!], I think it'd be enough time.

But again, I'm not Chris, I'm not Coldplay, I'm not their tour manager, I'm nothing but one more fan, so I can't decide if they come here, and if they don't do it, they for sure have their reasons, maybe they didn't like the idea, maybe they feel lazy, maybe they are tired because of the long tour they've been to, maybe the mexican promoters were not kind enough (either $$$ or real kindness), may be a lot of things, but there's only 1 sure thing:

COLDPLAY are not coming to Mexico and/or LatAm on this tour, let's wait 3 or 4 more years, and *MAYBE* they'll think about it.

Still disappointed...

Hey, i'm in Mexico too, and i'm also disappointed about that. But what can i do to fix it?

Go to NYC to watch them!!! I found a cheap flight from Guadalajara to New York, so i'm going to see them live.

In U2 concerts there were people from Countries like Honduras, El Salvador, etc... So it's the same, if you are a real fan, going to another country to watch them is not a crazy idea.

BTW, this is my first post... Hello to everybody!!!

The baby will be born in April so no way he would wan't to be on tour then. And then there are over two months free for him but I'm sure he wants to spend as much time with his family before he has to go on tour again.

I know it sucks that they won't come, they won't even come to my country even tho they say they like it an have been here twice before.

Hopefully they will come next time to latin America.

I'm sure they mentioned Mexico in interviews because they really wanted and hoped to go. Sometimes things change and some things won't be possible.

If I had the time and the money, maybe I'd go... but I don't, I'm on school, so... gonna have to wait 5 years, then maybe they'll come...

BTW, Hola paisan@, yo soy de Guadalajara tmb!! qué tal la perla? la extraño... vivo en el DFectuoso

uhhh, i may sound harsh on ya'll but its true.. you all have been bitching and moaning about this whole coldplay tour thingy... i understand that it is a pian in the ass, i truly understand.. but if you were in a band, could you last over a year away from home ??? living in hotels and busses ? eating out every frigin day??? not seing family and friends ??? ok so i have made a point and i like it. i live in vancouver, coldplay hadn't come to vancouver since the live tour. and that was 1 show that sold out fast.. so i missed it. i think they came 2004 and played at a ballroom 19 years old and up.. i missed that. ive waited 3 years to see coldplay so now you guys have a turn to wait.. yes its long but you cant change anything. Please dont kill me over this... but understand that they are tired and wanna go home.
