Dont you all think that the hardest part is just about the worst pick for the fourth single. In my opinion it should be Square one or what if. both in my viewing coldplay classics. what do ya think?

I actually would've loved to see White Shadows as the next single. Or Square One. Or A Message. Or Swallowed in the Sea. Or Low. Basically anything but THP.. :lol:

We have to agree that Coldplay and their manager(s), and record label, are not a bunch of idiots.

 

It's pretty obvious that the majority would not have wanted THP as the 4th single. They know most would want square one or white shadows. Therefore, I'm guessing they did it just to make their next album look better and the best on the planet, and Chris will have his old look with his short hair, and Coldplay will switch to wearing all white instead of black.

Hmm.. I don't get the connection? How does them picking the least favorite (generally speaking) song on the album show that X&Y is the best? If anything it might drag the album down, if THP debuts at a high number in the charts. I'm really hoping it at least makes top 10, like the other three singles.

The single (obviously) should have been White Shadows. I'm not saying this because it's my favorite song ever, but because it's the smartest choice. 1) Fans like it. 2) It's been done at every show during the entire tour whereas The Hardest Part has not. Square One is the only other track that has been done at every show, but it's just the album opener (like Politik).

Have you ever thought of the possiblities that they don't want another successful single? it would make sense after their response to the media recently.

i dont get it, i love THP....am i the only one?? i dono it just seemed so new and fresh, most of the album was really technical, computerized, and atherial sounding...and then there was this, it just was so out of the blue for that album, but i loved it....wow i thought most people liked it!

the logic that they are about to dump on this single on purpose is kinda stupid to me. I dont understand why they would do it. It reminds me during Rush of blood why didnt they make "a rush of blood to the head" a single i thought it was clearly as strong a pick as god put a smile but anywho

I agree that THP was the worst song off the album that they could have chose to turn out as a single, I am still trying to figure out why they chose it in the first place. As someone said, they have yet to play it live on the tour so why are they releasing it is a mystery. White Shadows would have been the perfect song to release, its catchy, fun and energetic unlike THP which to me is just boring and blah.

All I know is that I won't be listening to my radio much when it comes out. xD No, seriously. I hate that song. Gaah. And all the previous singles from X&Y weren't all successful, except for SOS.

 

I still don't really know why Coldplay would choose it... it just seems... wrong.
