Well...I don't know if it is known world wide...but I saw this opera two years aho....and it was overwhelming.....do you know it?

Not known worldwide? Hell, that first part is probably the most overused classical piece in the world in action movie trailers and whatnot.

When I was young I had a small part in a ballet to the music!

I didn't know it until the rehearsals began and during rehearsals and the actual ballet performances I obviously heard it A LOT.

I became really addicted to it and asked my mother to buy the CD.

(This was sooooo long ago!!! I'm getting old!)

Still have it and esp. love "Chramer gip die varwe mir", "Veni, veni, venias" and "Ecce gratum".

I already died after "Fortune plango vulnera" in it though :lol:

 

I have great memories related to "Carmina Burana"...

Very iconic piece, always wanted to see it performed. My local orchestra once performed it, but I couldn't attend. I read in a 20th century music history book that in the 1930s critics waved it off as (and I quote): Bavarian Niggermusic.
