coldplay_steph
Mark - exactly. Some people are never satisfied. The shows during Twisted Logic tour were too planned' date=' there was nothign spontaneous about them. If you look at the setlists for the shows they are all basically the same[/quote'] Hmm:thinking: ....then how come at Earls Court we got Shiver, Green Eyes, Trouble AND an acoustic version of the whole of Madonna's 'Hung Up' ???? Oh yes, because of course that was SO predictable...:dozey: They've worked their arses off over the last year more than any of us will ever really know. I just hate it when people dont seem to appreciate that.
Diamond
I didn't even think to compare the two tours. I also don't think they were too planned. When I saw them, I thought it was amazing, they played amsterdam ( i think chris forgort the lyrics to it at the begining:lol:) and green eyes. I think they plan their setlists thinking that there are different people every night and of course they can't please everybody. I'm just thankfull I got to see them live, no matter what they played. But thats just me.

clockpolitiks
Arobtth was better because it felt more intimate. I remember tha concert well. I sas them at hard rock live in 2003. Orlando. It wasnt as big as ampitheaters and stadiums. It was smalller, and just...more intimate. Everyone who was there were fans, not like the concerts for the twisted logic tour where pretty much it was half really good fans like us and the rest just people pulled in by the hype. Those are my feelings about it.
clockpolitiks
I have to agree with you there....not with the U2 and the Zeppelin thing because I can't comment on that...but about the Coldplay thing.... I somehow feel so erm....distanced from them since X&Y...that doesn't mean that I don't like them anymore....but this era didn't catch me as much as the eras before... I know exactly how you feel. I couldnt have said it better.
TraceOddity
One thing I loved about AROBTTH was that in T.O., and probably elsewhere too, they only sold tickets for a third of the ACC. So even though it was a big venue, it did feel more intimate. For Twisted Logic they did their first gig at Kool House in T.O. for 2,000 people, so at least a few lucky fans got a taste of that intimacy. Redundancy
ffs you should be thankfull you got the chance to see them live... sometimes i just cant understand people
Little Miss Clumsy
I think it's perfectly logical to have pretty much the same set list, and to have balloons at every show etc., because everyone deserves to get the same experience. I mean, how unfair would it be if some people get all these great songs and lovely light shows and balloons, and then other people don't. I can't remember now who said it, but someone pointed out that they are playing to different people every night and I think that is an important thing to remember. The band is trying to impress most people. Of course some will be disappointed but that's life and that's someone's opinion so what can you do? As long as you found yourself smiling throughout the concert, and after, then that is what matters in the end. There are only 10 more big sleeps until I get to see them play for the first time and I'm absolutely physced. I don't care if they've played the same songs and had the same routines at other concerts. All I care about is how they perform on the night that I go and how I will feel that night. Even for the fans that have been to one hundred Coldplay concerts in their lives, they will generally just think about how Coldplay played the nights they were there and how good the performance was. Of course the concert is routine. You can't play at big venues to thousands of people and just wing it. You can't just go "Oh, I'll just randomly play this song now simply because I feel like it. Who cares about the poor sound people, light people, other people? I'm sure they'll figure out what I'm doing and just play along." I understand that it's nice to have something random thrown at you but you can't expect miracles, people! Concerts have to be so thoroughly planned. In the end, the only people who can truly complain about similar set lists are the band and the behind-the-scenes workers, because they're the ones who have to play the same thing over and over again! We just have to sit back, relax, and listen. Can anyone really find a huge cause for concern in our role??

That's because they're bigger//more popular than in previous years....and therefore they seem to be becoming more and more 'untouchable' to fans. Which is shame :\ ....but i'd rather they had the success they deserve anyday. :nice: (as long as they dont change their attitude)

The new songs added an extra dimension to the show. You can't say that the likes of "Speed of Sound", "Talk" and "Fix You" meant that the concerts were less interesting!!;)

improvisation
all i can say to people who havent been to an AROBTTH tour show watch the LIVE 2003 DVD and you will be blown away. The X&Y shows were great dont get me wrong... but before there was just an undescribeable feeling or connection you could call it that just isint there in the X&Y shows. I still think their great but more of a show than more of Coldplay.

anniep_93
I've never been to a concert of theirs before but I'm going in 2 weeks and from what I can gather a lot of you are taking them for granted. I'm just grateful I'm seeing them at all! :)
TraceOddity
I'll never forget the first time I heard the songs from Paraschutes ringing out over a crowd of about 80,000 in Boston! Even though the tours are all very different, they've all had their glorious moments!!! You will never forget how those songs sound and feel live!!! I hope the show in 2 weeks is as precious and memorable for you as my first show...and the others...are for me. I'll take Coldplay live in any venue, any format!!! I have nothing but gratitued for my chances to see them on all three tours!!! Enjoy yourself!
rdmerr02
In case everyone forgot, there was another guitar player positioned offstage for yellow and the scientist (just the songs i know for sure of)...this tour, with the possible exeptions of some keyboards, and guitar loops made by johnny, they played it all live....that is why there is no acoustic guitar on fix you or white shadows like you hear on the album...that is also why there isn't any other keyboard on clocks, everything is raw and live, and perhaps that is why they didn't change it up...but there were special instances where they would change it up---an example is when they played Parachutes.....they also played shiver......i mean, when you realease an album as big as X and Y, and there are a lot of people who only know coldplay because of there hit songs, you have to satisfy the masses at these concerts.....i saw them 3 times and everytime the setlist was different...once it was practically all X and Y, but then two weeks later they played all but 3 songs of AROBTTH, including amsterdam, which is my personal favorite.......i mean, i would love to hear a song like easy to please or see you soon, but i missed their last tour, because they didn't come near where i live, and this tour was as good as you could have ever hoped for
maxlasalle
maybe im spoiled by radiohead setlists, but it would be nice if they changed some stuff around every once in a while. however, im not complaining, i saw them twice nad thoroughly loved both of the shows :) the one touch i miss though is 'life is for living' as a 2nd encore, everytime i hear a boot of that song it just seems like they play it with such emotion
improvisation
dont get me wrong im not saying this tour sucked but it just lacked the "soul" the last ones had.
i luv cp
i thought it was the best concert ever!!! they can't be expected to go to every single country one year they miss out on some places but then visit them next tour
i luv cp
and i thought what they played was great how they played new and old songs, they play songs on how popular they are in that country and i thought it was great
TraceOddity
...and with the huge number of great songs they've written, they can't possibly play everyone's favorites every night! Hell, they'd be at the venue all night...not that we'd mind that, but they have to sleep sometime..lol!
