Gitta Rensolo
Uh.........weird title! However! So many people say the bible is crap and just ignore it! Even the main aspects of the bible...... Well I didn't read the whole bible, but I know the main events and I think this is important! Maybe not for life in general, but to understand some things, especially in school. I mean, we read so many materpieces of literature in school and interpret them to understand them and there are so often symbols of the bible used! Anmd also other things in life, even if you don't believe in it I think you should know about some things! Good example is my english teacher,. She says she is an atheist, but always tells us that the bible is important...at least literally. So, I don't like it if people just ignore this book and say it is crap, without even looking at it. Besides it is a masterpiece of literature!Imo.....
mc_squared
You have a point. As long as you regard it in the same vein as all other works of literature, that's fine. There are certainly some morals that can be learned from it. The problem comes, however, when people just blindly take everything in there at face value and then start preaching to other people about how they should live their lives...................................... ;)
Best u Can
I take it as fact and I hate when it's insulted. It's worse than insulting my mom.
ClearAsCrystal
This is true. It is written in many different ways. And literally, it is a masterpiece. It even has some parts that were meant to be musical. Like Psalms...they were said to be written in a way that they can be sang. (kinda hard to explain) And the titles of some books of the Bible are meaningful to the chapters and verses. Like Exodus ..which is talking about an actual exodus/exile. I think that even if you don't believe that events were true (historicallay, events in the Bible are true, and historians use it to date events) it's an exceptionally written piece of literature. And that is awesome because it was written by many different authors too. *Good topic, Jules*
ClearAsCrystal
I take it as fact and I hate when it's insulted. It's worse than insulting my mom. I guess I should say that I do think the bible is true..it's events, the meanings for me. And I get insulted when people mock/make fun of/insult the bible. I hated this one comment in particular that i overheard... some kids (ignorant ones) said that the bible was written by men in dresses and that Jesus wore a dress so they were asking why they should read a book that involved "crossdressers" that was mega insulting

Completely unnecessary comments by those kids, who obviously lack respect. Also true that there are many events mentioned in the Bible that almost certainly did happen, based on historical records (as mentioned above). Whether you choose to believe everything that's written in the Bible is also up to the individual. However, the same level of respect should be shown to those who choose not to believe it.

busybeeburns
I'm not religious, but every single hotel room I have stayed in over the last 18 months has had a Bible in it. If they want to know whether I want a smoking or non-smoking room, why can't they ask me as well if I want a religious or non-religious room? I object to having it shoved in my face. ClearAsCrystal
*more discussions* This is an interesting topic, really. Many things revolve around biblical event (historic ones). It is learned how the old old goverments ran and that sort of thing. I alwasy thought that was intersting

ClearAsCrystal
This is also true. Here in the states...many 4 stars and above hotels have little red tabs in rooms that point towards the direction of Mecca...this is because many rich rich muslims stay at ritzy hotels and i guess managment wants to avoid any complaints from rich (mostly arab) muslims ..cuz you know  they prolly tip real well

Texasluvsjonny
They still have smoking and nonsmoking room at most hotels. You usually can't smoke in common areas but can in a smoking room. Your room is not a public place unless you're some kind of a whore. :laugh3:
