i do believe some musicians are being under- or overrated just because of their looks. Coldplay make great music, it is a fact. but i can't imagine that they'd be that succesful or would have such a big fanbase if they'd be ugly.

but ... it's sad to judge bands/musicians by their looks

 

for example richard ashcroft .... i don't think he's good-looking but i like his music as well

I'm sure it helps... but lots of people who listen and like their music don't have any clue what Will, Jonny and Guy actually look like - they wouldn't be able to recognise them if

they walked past them. So I'm not sure that it matters what the three of them look like.

 

I am sure it helps that Chris is good looking, but he's not conventionally 'gorgeous' so he's probably not everyone's cup of tea... I think with Chris it is more about his big personality that attracts people. At least for me it is :)

coming back to the question: considering that the look has no impact on their music, I'd like them anyway, whatever they would look like. but in fact, the way they do look like helps, to like them even a bit more... :wink3: (sorry, I'm a girl... *shrugs* :lol: ). but I think most important is, that the guys are actually great personalities as well, as far as I can judge it. and that isn't less important at all. ^^

 

on the other hand, in 95% of the cds I own, I don't even care what the band/singer looks like anyway. ;)

As a matter of fact that I'm a [heterosexual, indeed] boy I don't really care about the look of the members of a band full of boys ;)

So I'd still like them even if Chris Martin would look like the Darkness-singer :nice:

If any of them were ordinary men and I happened to pass by one of them, I don't think I'd look twice. Well.. except maybe for Guy! :lol: It's definitely the music that makes them attractive for me, not the other way around.

 

Barely anyone I know thinks the boys are particularly good looking anyway.. I have friends that actually make fun of Chris (and Gwyneth) by calling them Smug'n'Fug. Smug being Gwyn and "Fug" being Chris.. :sick:

when i first saw Chris, i didn't think he was gorgeous. But now i actually think that he and the other guys are quite handsome! :rolleyes: I don't know does it have anything to do with the music they play, but it could be! :thinking:

Funny you should start this thread because when they first started out people didn't think they were cute, a point they made very clear on the message boards. They do look much better now I have to admit but it has always been the music for me.

i dont know if i would care or not.. but at this moment i think no. maybe a year ago im interested in coldplay just because chris is damn hot, but joining this board i've appreciated their music more. and if im not their fan right now i would say coldplay is ugly lol. their music makes them beautiful. aargrg i just cant explain it :(

I didnt start liking the band because I saw pics or films of them. I heard their music lots and lots....at my work experience placement, and my brother played the cd's a lot in our car. I grew to love the music and the music only at that point.

 

I only started noticing how handsome they were when I came to this message board, lol!!!!

It makes no difference when you are listening. I always hear the music first anyway, then I discover the people behind it. It's a nice treat if they aren't too shabby.

No one I know thinks Coldplay is attractive... heh.

 

And, if Coldplay was ugly, I'd just think they weren't because I'd feel attached to them after listening to their music...

When I first started liking Coldplay, I listened to them for about a year straight and never even thought to look up their pictures. I had no idea what they looked like until I saw them in a magazine. Chris was the one who struck me because he's so unique looking and seems so lovely when he's performing. For me, it's Coldplay's talent that makes them look attractive.

Hmm...I'm sorry to say, but I think they probably would be less popular. But back in the day when I heard Yellow and fell in love with the music, I didn't even know what any of them looked like, so I don't know.

 

Something that's even worse is imo is that in practically EVERY magazine mention of Chris/the band it goes like this:

 

Chris Martin (husband of Gwyneth Paltrow) did blah and said blah

 

or Chris Martin and his band Coldplay (wife Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't there) went blah and did blah

^That would really bug if the article is about Coldplay. It's fine if it's just Chris though, I mean it also happens with Gwyneth. Usually one can find a "who's hubby is Coldplay rocker Chris Martin" line in her mag interviews as well, it's no biggie I think! :smiley:

first time i heard coldplay i fell in love in their music and beufiful songs and beautiful chris's voice , and then after i realized that chris is damn hot!!!!
