Rumors/Talk of the New Album

Featured Replies

I remember back a while this was a pretty big subject..has anyone heard anything about a new album or anything by coldplay coming out?i know not soon..but still is there anything? any sign of hope.. haha

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Chris Martin hinted that Coldplay's next album may be a "fast, dark and heavy" affair "with no pianos." [8] Band manager David Holmes suggested that the band may record a new album between their tour schedule over the new year: "They're definitely hungry to get back in the studio to make another record; they've got a lot of material. So for next year we're looking at building a tour around their recording schedule. Ultimately it could potentially mean we end up releasing another record next year (2007) and continuing to tour well into '07."

There are speculations that the band will get to the studio soon to record new material. "We just love being creative," bassist Guy Berryman said. "When we're out on the road, it's amazing to play live but we're really missing what we do best, which is creating. We've been together for almost ten years now and we've only made three albums." Speaking to BBC 6 Music, he added: "When you look at people like The Beatles who knocked out a couple a year, it sort of makes us start to panic a little bit. So we're just desperate to get back into the studio."

Recently, Chris Martin has stated that "I think next time we'll be everyone's band. Our next album is going to be the greatest piece of music ever made...It is going to be really good." The band already has songs for the album written. "I just feel so motivated and I just see life as being so short and I still don't think we've written the best song ever, so every night, in the middle of the night, I wake up and I'll just try and write it."

Furthermore, Chris Martin appeared on The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 on 14th February 2006. He stated that "the next album is very good, and I know because it's written". Also, six days later Kanye West was a guest on the same show and claimed to have been working with Chris Martin in the famous Abbey Road Studios. However he did not disclose many details of whether the recordings would be on his album or not.

Coldplay have said that footage of two live shows in Toronto from their Twisted Logic Tour will be released later this year on DVD. Five fans got the chance to film the show themselves and will have the footage included as part of the release.

No pianos and dark and heavy music really aren't my piece of cake :( that makes me think of My Chemical Romance

yes i definately have high hope here....it sounds potentially good here! and i really like the quotes they said themselves there....2007...wow that would be bloody brilliant is that went to schedule

Whatever they come out with will be great! Creative and different, that's OK!

2007

i already see the Radiohead - Coldplay battle for the 1st places in the charts :stunned:

^^:stunned:...well....hmm thats tricky...they both get high charted albums..hmm obviously radiohead would release theirs earlier i should think :wink2:

Sounds interesting. So long as it's not totally 'out there'........

I'll still love it anyway no doubt! lol

I think they would get alot of critisism about a "heavier album". It could possibly be good for them but i prefer the piano

a radiohead-coldplay battle would be awesome.. im not sure whose fanbase is bigger, but coldplay's switch to darker stuff will probably make or break the deadlock, depending on if they gain or lose fans

when they say "darker stuff" Im pretty sure they dont mean heavy metal kind of music.....

Im sure that I will like it regardless.....a new direction could be interesting?

I think they'll get criticism for whatever they do.

I agree with Kara, a new direction could be interesting....

exactly i agree....definately think it could be interesting

Would be cool to see what else they are capable of...something really different. I rekon it would be wicked. :D

oh im sure it would be sweet. Im just not sure how other new fans would react. some fans i know have never heard of parachutes lol.:laugh3: so i just hope the fanbase stays. it would be wicked to see what other music they can create.

I think they're gonna lose fans whatever they do. Im sure they've lost fans with AROBTTH who didn't like the change from Parachutes...and the same with X&Y....and some who just dont like the fact that they're now 'mainstream'.

^^^ oh yes...i am sure that these music snobs you get will dismiss coldplay for the sound they accessed on x&y and the fact is they dont like how popular they have become.they dont want to like a band that famous...i have to admit i love x&y but at the same time...i was dissapointed with it....sorry to say.but i think this new album will be very good..and when chris appeared on chris moyles show that time..he sounded so optimistic about it

I know what you mean Kelly, X&Y is a really great cd, but I missed the kind of acoustic-y songs like Green Eyes etc.

^Same here. That was only thing I was dissapointed with. The fact that everything was so 'perfected' and the sound was maybe little over-produced compared to previous material.

Til Kingdom Come is nice...but I really miss stuff like We Never Change and Sparks the most. I get the feeling they aren't going to be going back to stuff like that again, which is a bit of a shame. :\

But - at the same time im excited to maybe hear a new side of Coldplay...

lol thanks kara....i dont even know what it is i dont like about it...maybe it is the way it was produced..or the lyrics or what....

Hey, maybe Chris will break out in a rap! You know he did that on Nappies! :singer:

Well, I hope not that!

By "fast, dark and heavy", I'm pretty sure they don't mean in-your-face hard rock and a sudden turn into Booze & Broads©.

I think they mean a moodier and less optimistic style... but hopefully not TOO moody, or the Radiohead comparisons will finally have some basis in reality.
