I love X&Y too but when you listen to AROBTTH.....there's just no comparison really! You can tell they are really influenced by electro-pop/rock and that shows in X&Y. Hopefully they'll try something different next time! :0)

I tell you what... I want something completly different for the next record. I want atonal guitar, bass distortion, brass and strings, auxilllary percussion, electronic noise and effects, tracks transitioning and bleeding together as one, Guy on the trumpet, Jonny on the piano. Anything that shows a progression. They need to keep fresh, or else they'll loose steam pretty fast.

 

X&Y is a great album, but it isn't different enough. As they've said before, it's like they've wrapped up a trilogy of albums with this last one, and want to move on. And they need to. None of this Parachutes 2 bullshit that some people keep whining for. They need a fourth album that'll make people think that they aren't just some hit-making, pop-rock, mainstream band that'll fade off in a few years. If they keep continuing down the road they're on, that's whay'll happen, and I think they definatly see that.

 

X&Y isn't a timeless, classic album likte the other two. That's why I don't think I've ever been more ready for a new album.

well said ;0) You're right tho. THey're all talented musicians and should start varying their talents a bit more. Trying different instruments would be amazing! The acoustic set has been my fav part of these X&Y tours. But they still need to aim out of the box a bit more.

No. No more acoustic. They don't need Parachutes. They've done it. It's over. Enough said.

I don't really mind the new direction, but i think they shuld at least keep sum songs on the album in the style of parachutes/acoustics.. its always good to have sum variation plus the WHOLE new album shuldnt all be in the same style..a few new good direction songs wouldnt hurt anyways

I think they're gonna lose fans whatever they do. Im sure they've lost fans with AROBTTH who didn't like the change from Parachutes...and the same with X&Y....and some who just dont like the fact that they're now 'mainstream'. :rolleyes:

 

i dont like the fact that theyre now mainstream. theyre the only 'mainstream' band i love :stunned: and chris said mainstream pop culture is terrible, which im really agree with that. but that's okay im getting used to it, about coldplay being everywhere in streets and tvs. :)

 

anyway about the new album, yesss i want some heavier stuff. i didnt expect another ballad. maybe more depressing songs. i like it that way somehow. and more instruments! maybe rare instruments they never played before, that would be interesting.

I kinda like the idea of instruments that they never used...it be a different sound! Something to bring "UMPH" to their next album..lol :D
