Akward Name?

Featured Replies

My name is Crystal.

In Spanish, my family calls me 'Cristo'

But that name, in Spanish means ' Christ '

So I could be out in public, and my family will yell out: Cristooooooo!

And people who understand Spanish (alot, it's Texas)

will give me akward looks and be all like, " Did they just call her Christ!? "

akward at its prime.

Is your name akward? would you change it? what would it be?

Jack?

Nah.. I'd never change my name... I like it. Don't think it means anything offensive in any languages so.. :\

well my last name is gardner...and my middle name is rose....so people always connect the two and laugh at it when they find out

I guess that would make for an akward moment.

but Rose is a lovely middle name :)

I like my name, but I have some problems with it in school, for example.

The point that in Russia there're two similar names: Valeria (my name) and the male one, Valeriy or whatever ( my father is called Valeriy so he named me after himself). So some smart people in my school say that I have a male name, damn it's so annoying... And some teachers can't spell my surname, almost all people can't spell it. It's long and hard to spell so I have to repeat every letter until these dumbs will get it.

I'm not gonna deny that I laughed at that. Sorry if I offended you.

:D Rose is a pretty name though!

I suppose french names are like that too. There are female versions of almost every french male name.

So it must be confusing.

thankyou clearascrystal :)

:laugh4: no jack you didnt offend me....its just a silly thing

i have a friend from russia and she gets the same problem with her last name too. it's 14 letters long and nearly all the teachers can't pronounce it correctly, so they always ask her how to say it. she got really bothered with it, especially at graduation when the teacher had to say Daria "T." instead of Tverdohklebova. :\

Well.......both my last name and my name are not rare in Germany...I like the name Julia....so there is nothing special about it..

Well my name is a bit confusing for all people.

It's Roosajatta and there's actually two names Roosa and Jatta. Roosa is quite popular name here but the end of my name: Jatta isn't. Jatta is from my grandmom's name which is Marjatta.

So it's quite complicated at least for people who aren't from Finland :\

Many people can't spell my name and they always write it Roosa-Jatta or Roosa Jatta. I'm pretty strict about the spelling and i get upset if people spell it wrong.

So yes, my name is quite akward :P

That's why all my friends, relatives and even some teachers call me Rolle. It's so much less complicated!

My name is Kara and people always spell it with a "C" even though I spell it out for them. It particularly pissed me off when I got a basketball season ticket and the card I had to show all season with my name on was spelt with a C. :veryangry: I guess people have some kinda thing in their head that a car is spelt with C therefore so must Kara. grrrrr.

^^ thats weird because i cant imagine kara being spely with a 'c' those people must be grammatically challenged or something

^^^ same here. Everyone likes to spell my name with a C when it's Kristina. When someone is asking to write my name down, I have to jump in and say Kristina..but with a K.

lol but thats weird because i see christina being spelt with both a 'c' and a 'k'

^^ Rolle sounds like a very cool name

Thanks Crystal :)

My name is plain and I do not have problems with it :dozey:

Alfredo

I used to know a girl named Seasons. She hated it- ended up going by her middle name Hope.

do u like the name Eustachio?:D

Its so annoying isnt it!! I had to make a doctors appointment earlier today and when they ask for my name I have to say "with a K" or spell it out! Otherwise they say...no we dont have a Cara on this system....!!!:veryangry:

and also when people take down my surname gardner they always spell it gardener...unless told otherwise

the surname is another big problem.......................:(

my friend who her surname is inchingolo gets always angry cos nodoby spells well it....

Crystals over there' date=' I'm Judy :nice:[/quote']

I'm so sorry Judy :( I must have thought you are Crystal because of the avatars or something. I won't call you Crystal anymore, i hope :P
