U2 rearrange postponed tour dates

U2 have rearranged their tour of New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Hawaii, which was postponed when a close relative of a band member fell ill.

They will play a total of eight nights in Auckland, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in November, with rapper Kanye West as support.

There will be three dates in Tokyo before the Vertigo Tour comes to an end in Honolulu on 9 December. Rock group Pearl Jam will also be on the bill for the final concert.

"It's going to be a great night in Hawaii," said U2's manager Paul McGuinness, who described the band as being "really pleased" about the inclusion of Pearl Jam. It was "a great end to what has already been a very successful tour," he said.

'Unavoidable'

The Vertigo Tour began in the US city of San Diego in March 2005 and took in North America, South America and Europe before being put on hold in March of this year. At the time, promoter Arthur Fogel described the postponement as "unavoidable", but did not release any further details about the sick relative. The dates which have now been rescheduled were originally supposed to take place in March and April 2006.

Fans with tickets for the gigs in New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii have been advised to check the band's website to find full details of how to use them for the revised dates. In Japan, it was not possible to rearrange a concert at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama so ticketholders will be given a chance to buy passes for three concerts at the Saitama Super Arena instead. The website said they would be contacted "in the next few weeks" with full information.

My sister and a friend were suppose to go to their show earlier on in the year or whenever it was but when they postponed it they decided not go.
