just curious: is chardonnay that horrible?

not like i drink (b/c i'm underage) and not like i would...(yet, anyway) ;)

No, just personal taste. I don't like any wine, and I don't drink alcohol anymore fullstop anyway hehe.

I'm glad you posted that. I have it in my 'Coldplay' folder, but never got around to finding a text version...which is all I can post on this piece of crap!!!

Socks!!! WE NEED MORE SOCKS!!! WE'RE WORTH $100,000 000, BUT WE JUST CAN't AFFORD SOMEONE TO LOOK AFTER OUR SOCKS!!! LOLOLOL!!

oh my god, this made me laugh so hard.

i suppose all bands have a list like this, im sure they do, but the whole thing is written in an almost demanding manner that surprised me. and i cant help but think of all the food that must be wasted at every show! four guys (well, probably like 13 come to think of it, with all the people that travel with them) cannot possibly devour that much food and alcohol without getting seriously trashed or ill before hopping around on stage like madmen or doing their jobs.

they ask for flowers in a vase!! and a fruit juicer???

im glad they specified dark socks, so they dont wear white socks with all that black and make such a faux pas (haha, but with the white sneakers, who cares? :laugh3: )

and all that food that they leave with on the buses?? wow.

thanks for posting, i got a real laugh out of it!

These ryders are usually drawn up by artist management...they do consult with the band obviously on specifics...SOCKS, DAMMIT!!!...but alot of it is standard stuff. And there are actually alot more than 13 ppl on the tour. I'm sure some food goes to waste though. As long as you're on thesmokinggun.com, check out J-Lo's ryder...if you think Coldplay are crazy...and they are,lol...hers'll really crack you up!

yeah, youre right. i didnt mean to sound totally naive and bitchy about the whole waste thing, but it sounded that way. it just seems a bit excessive, especially the FORTY-EIGHT BEERS (plus 4 cases after the show!), and im a stickler for waste in any situation.

how many tour buses did they use for the twisted logic/talk tours? back on the waste topic, im kinda surprised they had FOUR buses. i think thats insane for anyone at any time, i dont care if youre the rolling stones (but i think they had much more than 4 buses and MUCH more than 2 trucks on their last tour!)

sorry to sound all picky, but things like four buses surprise me, especially when coldplay is so environmentally concious in other situations. (unless they run their buses on ethanol like willie nelson). however its very true i would want my own space...

who knows.

I'd just ask for the basics, but to each his own. Or however it goes.

o_o

Edit: Rephrasing! =D

Don't get me wrong...I completely agree about wasted food etc. i've gone hungry in the past and it still breaks my heart to see food get thrown away. Some does get wasted, as I said, but here's a little of what I know.

Coldplay=4 ppl

Artist Management: Franksie, Dave Holmes, and at least 4 other that I couldn't name without some digging.

PMs...personal managers, ie, Gillian.

Management support staff...the guys who make Franksie's n Dave's jobs easier by running around and 'doing the math'

Sound, Lighting, n support crew. And I don't just mean the guys who handle the sound n lights, I mean the guys who move it in and out 'Load-in', etc.

Point being, there are alot of mouths to feed on a tour of this magnitude.

At least it's not as bad as The Stones. When They played the SARS concert in TO, they wanted the fruit stacked a certain way and all the backstage support staff had to be 36, 24, 36!!

I hope you don't feel like I'm arguing, because I'm not. Just thought I'd explain a bit of the crazy amount of money that goes into keeping a band happy on the road!!

Now that I've done my bit for coldplaying.com...WHERE ARE MY F**KING SOCKS??? I Specifically said I wouldn't post until I GET MY SOCKS!!!!!!

well i thought it was quite amusing. but i cant imagine any of this (bar the socks!) coming out of anyone of the guys mouths at all! but definately im sure some of this goes to waste and that kinda makes me sad. but also i thought it was only chris that was vegetarian, so im sure like me i dont try and push my beliefs on anyone else.

but as with the buses, from reading the coldplayer posts certainly having 4 buses seem reasonable to me for everyone that goes around with them. and also this is no adverage show with just a little bit of lighting and 2 or two instruments. i know chris has 2 pianos so that would definately take up alot of room. plus also the number of guitars each band member has. also then including personal belongings that has to last them for quite a few months and accumlation of stuff as well.

then the amount to people it takes to fit in all the visual technology ie the massive screen! so i guess it for me it doesnt seem extreme! but then each to his own.

funny i can taste the difference between the wines, although like razors_girl23 i dont drink anymore. but certainly interesting. also i really hope (i know chris takes care of himself) but the other guys dont drink and smoke themselves into an early grave! cos they seem it drink alot!

cotton socks??? are needed to do a good show???

no, i dont feel like youre arguing!!:) you know a lot more about this sort of stuff than i do, im basically just thinking out loud. dont worry about it! i know pretty much nothing about the touring world these days...im a huge beatle freak and their touring equipment and preferences were WAY different, so thats what im used to hearing about. they pretty much used two limos and a plane while touring, two roadies, and their manager. thats it. obviously coldplay and other bands need more than just 3 people besides the band, i just figured a lot of the electricians and such were from the venue and didnt travel with them.

thanks for giving me the realistic side of these things!

Oh, was it Guy? I heard it was Chris...or was that the Chardonnay? I'd love to see that...lol, maybe not!

As for no US beer, that makes perfect sense to me...with the exception of a few mainstream beers and micro-brews, US beer has a bad effect on EVERYONE!!! *pushes back bad party 'memories'*

I always like to read what bands and artists request backstage, sort of determines what kind of people they are doesn't it? Do you get my meaning???

You know you get people like Mariah Carey, for eg. who may ask for the whole backstage area to have a total overhaul by an interier designer to look like her home, before she will step foot into the place!!!! Of course, I'm not saying that is what she does but its only an eg.!!!!!! DON'T SUE ME!!!!!!
