Floyd Landis - Your Opinion

Featured Replies

We all know that Landis was found to have a higher-than-normal ratio, 11:1, of testosterone in his urine sample after stage 17, the second to last stage of the Tour.

- A small amount of synthetic testosterone was found as well, according to the French lab.

- He has now been stripped of his title and fired by his cycling team.

- Landis maintains his innocence and does not know what caused his high level of testosterone for that one test.

- Landis was tested multiple times throughout the Tour de France leading up to Stage 17, and passed every one. He also passed a test administered after he had won the race. It was one test out of 12 or 13 that showed abnormal levels of testosterone.

- Testosterone is used as a drug by building it up cumulatively, not taken as a short-term trigger for a tremendous enhancement in performance.

- Testosterone has a half-life (amount of time half of it disappears from one's system) of 2-4 hours, and after 5 hours of racing Stage 17, his testosterone was still at an abnormal 11:1 ratio. This means that he would have to have started the race with a rediculous amount (at least double the 11:1 ratio) of testosterone and be ingesting some during the race.

So there are the facts and the hypotheticals courtesy of ESPN cycling expert John Eustice.

Based on what you now know, do you believe Floyd Landis?

come on, this guy made one of the greatest rides in the history of cycling after that screwup....people were claiming it wasnt humanly possible!

if you still think that he's innocent now then something is wrong ... the tests were positive ... twice!! I wish he's innocent but i can't believe in him anymore, to me he's guilty ... too bad Pereiro had to win this way without wearing the yellow jersey in Paris :(

I think he's guilty - the ratio's so high that it nearly can't be natural!

is it possible there is a conspiracy involved, and someone spiked his food or something?

the guy looks so shaken up... im really not sure where i sit on it....

its true that he looks very shaken up but they all do when they're just told that the tests were positive ... none of the users will ever admit it. I'm convinced that he's guilty though.

And I don't think you can get testosteron by accident ... isn't it something to use by injection ?

come on' date=' this guy made one of the greatest rides in the history of cycling after that screwup....people were claiming it wasnt humanly possible![/quote']

It was a good ride, but had the other leaders attacked as well, he probably wouldnt have won the stage let alone the yellow jersey.

i think its all a combo of things: Too many pills/med etc to help him recover from the previous day, alcohol, plus the fact he was really fired up and determinded to win. Also hes due a hip replacement op - His current hip is F****** He wouldve been on meds for that.

maybe they all mixed..

yeah, isn't that what his lawyers are going to claim ? It is convincing but I don't know ... he's been on meds the day before that too because of his hips and he was blown away then.

Really feel sorry fo him. But facts speak louder than words.
