Well, i dont think Michael Stipe's voice is quite close to Chris', or maybe just a lil bit similar.

 

But that guy from bluemerle has really shocked me! That resemblance is so scary!

he sounds a lot like chris, but lucas' voice is raspier and darker in my opinion...

In a way, yes, but I think Michael Stipe's voice is deeper and more... mature, if that makes any sense. It's a different sort of vocal quality they both have. Chris's voice just sounds higher than Michael Stipe's.

I didn't hear a resemblance.

He sounds more like the bloke from the Counting Crowes to me.

I dont think that Chris and Blue Merle sound that alike, but I do love Blue Merle.

isnt there just something special about Chris's voice, i can pin why its so beautiful (bar the beautiful falsetto he has)

I agree Chris's voice is very unique but Damn, I heard Mat Kearney on the radio today and swore it was Chris. It was a piano heavy song called Breathe in Breath Out, and I was sure it was something new from Chris.

I'm definitely with you on that one; I almost thought it was Chris Martin singing when I first heard "Nothing Left To Lose".

 

Bono (of U2) and Chris Martin have always struck me as having a vocal similarity that is difficult to explain. The best example I can think of is to imagine Chris singing "City Of Blinding Lights" and Bono singing "Talk".

its not just you. matt kearney sounds FREAKISHLY like chris to me. i almost had a heart attack the first time it came up on my friends ipod: i thought it was coldplay material that i had somehow never heard before!
