Matches to go ahead in Milan

Thursday, 15 February 2007

Details have been issued of the two forthcoming UEFA Champions League matches to take place in Milan, Italy.

Inter-Valencia

The first knockout round, first-leg match between FC Internazionale Milano and Valencia CF next Tuesday will be played at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium (kick-off 20.45CET).

Permitted capacity

UEFA was informed of the venue by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) after the latter had been involved in consultations with the Italian Ministry of Home Affairs in the wake of recent spectator incidents in Italy. The permitted capacity will be 36,000. This includes the five per cent reserved for visiting supporters, i.e. 1,800 tickets to be sold via the visiting team.

New measures

The FIGC told UEFA that the stadium was already in conformity with some of the measures provided for by Italian law, and that additional work was undertaken to fully comply with new measures that have come into force. However, some work must still be done before full capacity will be allowed at the venue.

Milan-Celtic

The UEFA Champions League tie involving AC Milan and Celtic FC will also be played at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium on 7 March (20.45CET) in front of a limited number of spectators, with the exact capacity still to be determined. However, the capacity will include 4,500 seats reserved for Scottish supporters.

Milan can now count themselves lucky..again. I hope Valencia thrash Inter.

Anyone watched some UEFA-Cup matches today and yesterday?

Bayer Leverkusen - Blackburn Rovers 3:2

Werder Bremen - Ajax Amsterdam 3:0

Just watched Lens-Panathinaikos on TV which ended 3:1. I would say the first goal of this game has a good chance to become goal of the year! :stunned: Incredible!

"Bayer Leverkusen - Blackburn Rovers 3:2"

Still got to play at Blackburn's ground and if they beat you 1-0 than they go forward on away goals. ;)

So today is Champions League, but no one here is able to watch a single game (including Real Madrid - Bayern Munich), except people who have Premiere (Pay-TV). It's so annoying! Even the first highlights of tonight's games will be broadcast tomorrow at 8pm!!! Who has allowed this TV contract?

It seems that football's only for rich people...

erm i can watch it and i dont have premiere or sky or whatever.

the champions league is shown in switzerland i remember that tuesday games were shown on normal telly in england as well. two games at the same time but none on wednesday. i can even watch today's and tomorrow's game over here. they show real- bayern and barca- liverpool...

but i totall agree, this contracts shite.

they keep showing the champions league but we wont get formula one no more because of some silly contracts.

I might watch Man Utd Vs. Lille on Free-to-air ITV1, but maybe I won't because Man Utd are going out.

Well, fortunately my parents have Premiere so I'm going to watch either Real-Bayern or the channel where you can watch all games simultaneously, but nonetheless it's annoying for the majority of supporters who can't watch the game with a German team. Instead, DSF (Free-TV) is showing Barcelona-Liverpool tomorrow...

more bodies than seats at the Man United supporters end, causing crowd trouble with police. Not good..

First goal of tonight... Real leads 1:0 in rainy Madrid!

Edit: 3:1 Real, nice game!

Van Bommel scored for Bayern and told the fans to fuck off!! :laugh4:

Oh dear, Man Utd. Fans have really yet the image of english football down :(

Not as much as the Lille fans, players and coaching staff!! Lille should be kicked out of the tournament for their disgraceful behaviour!!

It seemed that Man Utd fans got hold of "Home" team tickets.

Utd fans did nothing but consider their own lives! Lens officials shut the upper stand, leading to the Utd fans being crammed in the lower tier surrounded by metal railings. Sound familiar?

AS for Lille and their fans, disgrace on and off the pitch. Shocking French behaviour! They only have themselves to blame :dozey:

It sounds like Lille are to blame for everything, then. Bad stadium management, bad pitch, and bad behaviour and attitude!!

Football's image has been tarnished yet again..........................

Well Giggs did take that free-kick a bit quickly.

It seemed like Eric Braamhaar was Man Utd's 12th man on the field, ruling a perfectly good goal out.

You must have been watching a different game. The slow-mo clearly shows that the Lille player went through Vidic to get to the ball - therefore a blatant foul.

And quick free-kicks are allowed as long as the ref has given his consent beforehand.

The ref was therefore right on both occasions.

vidic was pushed, I could see that and I'm 500 miles away :shocked2: as for Giggs free kick, how many times have we seen that in the premiership. Henry several times... and he's French!

Quick free-kicks are quite normal now. Ronaldinho does it a lot too.

Precisely.
