You should get the Dvd. I don't think you can watch it online.

Man I'd love to be a lady friend of Bo's... I remember this interview (links now dead?) where he mentioned the size of his.... and how good he was in bed, though the fact he was good in bed had little to do with the size of his.... because apparently it's not.... ya know. O_O

anyway to watch this legendary diary online?

I just tried to record the audio so you could at least listen to some bits but it didn't work :bigcry:

It's better to see it. :) I think I smiled the whole time and didn't take my eyes away from the screen... Even though I was supposed to read the Danish translation. And then I accidently deleted it... So now, I just won't know what they're saying.

(I actually can rip video and audio from video, it's always worked for me... But I'm fairly new to it. I mean, Ive been doing it a lot recently, but maybe I could try? There is, I think a snippit from the dvd on Youtube, but not a part with the actual band.)

I've got the translation that Sofia posted the other week..

Translation of Documentary: The Making of Mew and the Glass Handed Kites

I am definitely not sure about everything as the sound is very low some places. SO this is base don what I think they say. My comments in italic. If there are three stops it’s because I can’t make out what they’re saying.

0:33 – Entering the door to the studio

Bo: What were you talking about?

You’d read something Jonas?

Johan: Yep, what was it?

Jonas: I’ve just read about a special technique for headbanging which is better for your neck because it usually makes you pretty sore.

Bo: Okay. You completely disagree over there?

Johan: Just saying it looks much cooler the way I did it.

1;24 Singing An Eternal Flame

Bo: Thank you all!

Bo: We didn’t record the remaining good pjeces.

1:58: Opening laptop

Johan: This is how it looks when four serious men goes to work.

The time is twenty to nine in the morning. It’s a bit early for rock n’ roll.

2:38: Churchyard

Bo: Hey! Hey! Hey you there! Don’t stand here in the churchyard making graffiti! Hallo! Hallo! Hallo! He’s trying to hide. After him!

Johan? Bo?: Right! Yeah like that! With the gaps yeah!

Silas: Yeah.

Johan? Bo?: Yeah it’s important with those gaps.

Bo: We have two titles for the record now right?

Jonas: Yes.

Bo: Name.

Jonas: One of them is Syllabus Streetwise, so it’s Syllabus Streetfries. (not sure)

Bo: Yeah, You can easily imagine a cool cover with that name.

Jonas: The other one is of course Circuitry of the Wolf.

Bo: And Circuriser.

Jonas: Yeah, because this is sorta what the record is about.

Bo: Yeah, that’s lovely.

Jonas: But, I rule for Streetfries for the moment.

Bo: Yeah so do I.

5:43: Johan playing bass.

Johan: Hang on.

8:45: Jonas playing piano.

Jonas: Okay. One, two, three, four

Johan: Thanks. It was just a weird sound that came there. Or something.

10:14:

Jonas: Don’t you think that instead he should play like....

JJ: I’m not sure about that. Or don’t you think he’d just find it funny?

10:25:

Johan: So what do you thiink about that drum beat?

Bo: I think we should try putting it in Protune and then see. Because right now there’s 4/4 when it’s slow, maybe it’s pretty cool if it’s faster

Johan: How do you want it to sound?

Silas: Fast in the beginning then to four short beats and then, I think six chords, then 4 and then back to four.

Bo: Okay. Why do you do that?

Silas: There’s no logical explanation, I just.. It’s just what I do.

11:03 Whisteling

Bo. What does people say?

Silas: Bit harder huh?

11:47:

Bo: Wait, wait. Last one again.

Bo: Fuck! What’s going on?!

Bo: I think you’ve collected your...

Jonas: It just gives me bad memories of Eastern Berlin and... I can’t completely. I don’t know.

Bo: To your days in Eastern Berlin.... Underground.

Johan: Him, Günther Walraff and Leif Davidsen

Jonas: I just don’t want people to think we’re red (socialists), we should run....

Bo. But we have red candles.

Jonas: Yeah it it’s completely.. don’t film that cos it’s not good.

13:28:

Johan: Only missing to get...

14:00

Johan: The cat’s play with the mouse.

Jonas: Worker in Paradise.

Johan: Worker in Paradise. The old communist slogan. A Worker or a...

Silas: Parasite. A sponger.

15:15: Albert, the dog.

Bo: How are you? How are you? (Danish translations is So what, so what, but the meaning is like How are you)

Johan: Look how good I am. Way too smart to perform my tricks.

18:23

Bo: Great. I’d love to do that boys.

Bo: Is it Michael down ther? Is it Michael?

19:54:

Johan: It’s pretty crazy huh? He’s just like: Okay, than we do this. Okay.

Jonas: He seems a bit, irriteated, sort of.

Bo & Johan: No no.

Johan: He’s just not..

Bo: We just need to get to know him.

Johan: That’s what I mean. He’s a bit sorta excentric. Super serious about it. But on the other hand I think it’s pretty good that we have someone who plans so much when we have such short time.

Jonas: I’m a bit anxious to what he’ll say if it takes me a while to sing some of it.

Johan: That’s with the gun. The gold olde..

Jonas: He doesn’t seem as pedagogical as Rich.

23:14:

Bo; The time is eight, twenty, six, twentyto and there’s twentyfour minutes to the game starts.. no.. thirtyfour. So let’s go.

23:34:

Jonas: we’ve done ob the last songs. So now it’s time to go home. (not sure about this one)

Johan: On which songs?

Jonas: All the scores and songs are done we just need to...

Johan: That’s a huge part, we need to celebrate!

29:44: In the studio

Bo: Then they don’t show up.

Silas: We’re here anyway...

Bo: Are they fictionate/nonfictionate? It’s hard to tell.

Silas: As long as they’re here and it works, it should be okay.

Martin: I always treat him like this. Always!

44:07: In the studio

Jonas: It’s difficult times. It’s difficult times.

Johan: What’s up?

Jonas: We dont know about.. my situation. We don’t know what’s gonna happen. We don’t know if our label is speaking to our management, if they’re speaking with the producer. It’s all sailing. More or less.

And they’re stressing us to get it done. And we’re still missing some vocals on none of the songs, were missing a lot of keyboards. We need Spanish guitars, which were doing now. Difficult times. Difficult times.

46:48: Kitchen

Johan. We’re packing up. The record is not done. And we’ve been here nearly five months.

48:39; In the house in DK

Bo: No no, fuck, it’s not funny.

52:42: Studio in DK

Jonas: Or is that too much?

Bo: Let’s just try.

56:47: Sofatalk

Johan: So Silas..

Silas: What did you expect?

Johan: Beautiful take

Johan: Jones, how far are we?

Jonas: What did you expect? We have a long way to go.

Johan: Far from? Or are we there soon?

Jonas: Almost there. What did you expect?

Thank you. :)

I now remember when Niege translated that. I didn't get it then, and I still don't get it... But at least I'll somewhat understand it. (If that makes sense...) :)

Lauren, like Olivia said you should totally buy the dvd, it was pricey but well worth it..although it took a while for them to deliver Olivia's copy to the states :\ I got mine within a week.

Anyway, I've had a go at ripping the funny little scene I mentioned before I hope it works...

Way to go, Paula. :)

Yea, well it did come from overseas. But I think one of the main issues was with the creditcard I was using. I can't be sure. It was still worth the wait. And worth the money I paid for it. Erm... My friend paid for it. But it was worth it for me, still. :)

edit: I'm reminded now that I have very bad luck when I buy online. I ordered a CD online before and I haven't done so since this incident happened. The shop we bought it from was shit when it came to costumer services. We called and asked how it was being delivered, how much they had in stock, when we were getting it. (And I say "we" as I was a child and did it with my mom's help.) We got told one thing, then another, and then finally after two weeks of waiting we got it through US mail in a FedEx wrapping when they said UPS!

Some new info on No More Stories:

The New Duets:

As we know, Mew have had a few duets in the past - with Becky Jarrett on Symmetry, Stina Nordenstam on Her Voice Is Beyond Her Years and (Dinosaur Jr’s) J Mascis on Why Are You Looking Grave and An Envoy to the Open Fields. The upcoming album will have a duet with a relatively unknown 88-year-old avant-garde Danish singer Mari Helgerlikova on Sometimes Life Isn’t Easy. The track also includes a children’s choir singing the chorus, something Mew did with White Lips Kissed four years ago. That is going to be an interesting combination. Apparently Helgerlikova’s voice can also be heard on the upcoming b-side Swimmer’s Chant (previously titled The Chant And Swimmer).

“I’m working with a young group from Denmark called Mew, that’s an ongoing thing and it’s been really enjoyable. Working title of the song is “The Chant And Swimmer” and it’s a beautiful piece. But it’s not only that, we’ve been experimenting a lot on different things“, she told to Hidden Sounds’ interviewer in November 2006 when the Danes had just started writing new material.

It is also mentioned in a recent article that the 23-word album title comes from the lyrics of the song Hawaii Dream. The album includes tracks called Hawaii and A Dream, so - at this point - we do not know what they really mean by this. Read the interesting article where Mew also talk about the album title and the cover art that has raised eyebrows everywhere. Jonas Bjerre reveals that the album title may sound pretty bleak. “It comes from having watched a lot of TV when I was a kid. I feel like I’ve been told so many stories in my life I don’t need to hear anymore, and so I’ve kind of given up on being impressed by stories. But the cover art is really happy and colourful and it shows the positive side - which is to go out, become part of the world and make your own stories“, he adds.

PS: If you are using Spotify, the radio version of Introducing Palace Players (3:30) has just been added.

DVD question: Alright, so I didn't pay that much attention first viewing because I was busy. During the telling of the joke part when they show all that footage moving by real fast, does the video stop and you see some of their faces and a big black part of the screen? Just wnated to know if that was normal or not. Thanks.

Some new info on No More Stories:

wow - it's sounds like it's gonna be great..

Written and recorded in Brooklyn mostly (but also in Copenhagen and the south of France) No More Stories... radiates warmth, thanks to loads of percussion, handclaps, and choral vocals

 I like the sound of this..

The warped and woozy opener "New Terrain" sets the tone. Segments were recorded backwards giving the track a disorienting push-and-pull that mirrors the lyrics ("We should not lose terrain/Wild and young, we got seasick/On your seven soft sheets").
