Okay, question. Am I the only one on this Mew thread that hates Symmetry? It's my least favorite song. I know I'm among a lot of other Frengers who dislike it, but I strongly believe I'm the only person who has posted here that doesn't like it.

 

Another question: Did anyone find the boys movements in the "Zookeeper's" video to be really cute? Jonas' moving/dancing, the thing he did with his arm (the elephants trunk) and Johan and Bo rocking out and lipsynching. It all looked like such fun.

 

And my last question: What's everyones favorite Mew song and Mew Music video so far? :)

omg I love Symmetry - hearing that song made me buy the Frengers cd - it's gorgeous - what do you not like about it Olivia..?

 

I love the Zookeepers vid - that's the one with the delacriox-esque painting in the background (reminded me of Viva :) ) I shall have to go watch again in the name of research...:rolleyes: any excuse... ;)

 

As for a fave - Comforting Sounds - that's a song I just have to hear at least once a day at the mo - both the song (any version ;)) and the video are my absolute absolute favourite!

edit: ok, just watched Zookeepers more than a couple of times in a row :wacky: and omg those harmonies get me everytime, it's such a good song...Bo and Johan are singing two different things aren't they..?

 

Anyway the vid - Jonas is going for sultry and sexy there defiinately :D And the other three rocking out with all the hair flailing about = great..!

When I first heard "Symmetry" I was in love with it. I don't know what happened. "Chinaberry Tree" gave me chills at first listen. So much so that after I finished ATGHK it was that song and "Zookeeper" I played over and over and over again for hours. From Frengers, it's hard to say.

My favorite video I have to say is either the official CS video of the Yahoo live version of it. Am I Wry? No. Was the first video I saw of them, so it'll always be special to me. 156 is funny with Jonas' dancing and Bo's jumping. But it's a great concept.

 

And yea, Jonas sings all five different parts on the album but in the video they're all singing (or should I say "lipsynching"?) to different parts of the song. :)

 

When I saw the thing Jonas was doing with his arm, I wouldn't have guessed it symbolised the elephants trunk. I think that's really cool.

It's just so rock n' roll, Comforting Sounds - it's pure genius. I didn't think I was gonna like the 3min edit after loving the full version so much, but the raw energy of the short version is incredibly powerful. And like you say, the Yahoo video is awesome, I remember watching that after I'd watched the rhapsody originals version and was just blown away.

 

Am I Wry? is a good video too, the colours and the lighting in that is lovely, very clever. I really like the King Christian animation too - is that a proper video or one of Jonas backdrop vids..?

 

Personally, as songs go, I'm not a big fan of Shadow Kick, I don't care for that track much...Tsin-Tsi too gets on my nerves a bit.

 

Songs I'm really digging at the moment tho' are She Spider, Snowbrigade and Safe As Houses - heh, all the S-tracks :D

Lol. No Shadow Kick is just Jonas spouting gibberish. :\ Not their best song, for sure. Much like that other song... Beautiful Balloon, Jonas uses some gibberish in that song, he was trying to make it sound Swedish.. weird kid, that Jonas.

 

And there is no official video for King Christian. You can go see a lot of hsi visuals on Youtube and a video they made for Behind the Drapes. Very beautiful visuals. :)

 

Right now I'm loving most Mew songs. Chinaberry Tree and all of Kites are what I'm digging right now.

All I hear is "Do you have the time..." and "The rain is falling down...cars remain" :\

 

But the other guys do the harmonies amazingly well on the live stuff I've seen. Bo and Johan have good voices themselves and all the voices complement each other perfectly.

 

I love the Rhapsody version of Zookeepers, the harmonies are even more incredible on that, if that's possible. Nick's a very good harmoniser imo :D

Actually that's four. Live Jonas sings his part, Bo sings, Nick sings and their bassist sings.

 

And I love how throughout the song it changes. In the beginning only Jonas sings the first part. And then after the first verse I think his voice comes in again singing the next. And after the second verse I believe the "I could not be seen with you" part comes in and joins those two. And the last part comes in during the end of the song. :)

I wonder if I am the only one who here's the "rain part" repeat? I hope not. In the end of the song he sings "cars remain, remain." But the first remain part is sung also during the remade part. But I believe earlier in the song you can hear it go like this: "The rain is falling down, the cars remain.. (The rain is falling down the cars remain)" Like an echo sung differently? If so that makes it five. :smiley:

im not a big fan of symmetry. then again i've only given it one listen.

 

oh and btw paula, can you post bigger versions of some of those jonas and bo pics? like for instance the bottom left one on the jonas grid and the one where bo's got his arms spread wearing the green sweater?

 

edit: and also i'd like to mention that my favorite videos are the She came home for christmas one and the Mica one. :D

yah mica is my favorite mew song so far. i love both versions and i cant choose which one i like better! i wish there was somehow a mix of the both of them. that would be my life :heart:

I just got my friend into Mew after a year of trying. He loves them now. :thumbsup: favorite songs are Apocalypso and Am I Wry? No.
