Tony Blair is being compared to Hitler in an advertising campaign against ID cards.

The advert - sponsored by the Lib-Dem party and Labour MP Diane Abbott, and supported by Blur's Damon Albarn - is running in newspapers and on billboards and shows a photo of the Prime Minister with a barcode on his lip like the Nazi leader's moustache. The caption reads: "ID cards have worked well in Europe before." Campaign group NO2ID is behind the advert. It said today: "Blair is not Hitler. But he is building the tools of totalitarianism." Labour's Lord Janner, a leading Jewish parliamentarian, said the advert was "monstrous".

He said: "Hitler was a mass murderer and to make any comparison between him and Tony Blair is stupid and unacceptable."

He deserves it.

Simple.

Yeah because he's a racist who started the bigget war ever and has genocided millions of people:rolleyes: :dozey:

Not liking the dude is understandable, but comparing him to one of the most evil men to have ever lived is not. It only shows how immature you are and your lack for understanding about the world. Congrats you have just given a 5 yr old a run for his money with your political view! be proud, im impressed by that coming from you

woah dang.

^buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn.

I think the ads for Death of a president are far worse.

I dont think its very nice to show someone being killed on a giant poster. Yea its a tv show but even so its not very nice.

Anyway about the Hitler thing - Every Saturday Referees up and down the country get called that and other worse names.

^ that's sad too, but referees on a field aren't the same as the british prime minister on adverts nationwide. the comparison is not the same.

what a shame...this portrayal is in bad taste, not to my liking at all...but it has done it's job so well done to NO2ID.

So? He's a tyrant.

I think Tony Blair is, in-part, responsable for the escalation in violence around the world and we (the citizins of the world) are being made to suffer.

And it's not only us who are suffering or have suffered. It's the lives and families of thousands upon thousands of innocent people killed in the wars which I don't believe are justified.....and neither do most of the British public.

I believe he deserves this unflattering depiction, yes.

So if you want to have a silly little dig at me in the embarrassing way you did above, then go for it - say whatever you want.

I really don't understand how you can fly off into a distant land where things I haven't eluded to or said exist....

No he is not.

tyrant

1 a : an absolute ruler unrestrained by law or constitution b : a usurper of sovereignty

2 a : a ruler who exercises absolute power oppressively or brutally b : one resembling an oppressive ruler in the harsh use of authority or power

Teachers, police officers, refs, they;ve all been called Hitlers. Anyway Blairs heard worse himself.
