Living upside down?

The nightlife.

And I am not talking about about be in the party all the night.

I mean the people that have to work, study, practice in the night.

Some people do it cause they can not do it in the morning, cause they have no option.Other people like to do it,cause they like it.And the other people just think is something cool to do or they want to discover what feels like.

The nightlife is a different world, there are persons that stay awake all the night, and they go to sleep in the morning,go to work ion the afternoon and start all over again.

I never thought about the opportunities that night could offer you.It is a good area for discovering.

Some people look weird to the person that do that, cause they think that the normal thing is work in the morning and when the night has comne go to sleep and that's it.

I think that with the time we would see the same activity we saw in the morning in the night. The only problem would be the traffic.

Do you have friends that act like this?

In my work I been working in the afternoon and I go out in the night, like 11:00 pm and I realize the difference and is really big,but is getting closer.

What about shopping at 5:00 am?

Or be in the internet till 3:00 am? (ups that's something we already do)

I could not ever do that,my body would not handle it,plus it would be really weird too!!

Why would be weird?

Imagine that there are not works left and the only hours to work are in the night or early morning?

I dunno....it's just not normal I guess....

  • Author

Then again, who said is not normal?

I guess we have to get accustomed to the idea that this could happen in a near future

Well yes that is true alfredo..I for one could never sleep during the day,but I guess ppl would get used to it with time...

Well all the people in Aus and NZ live "upside down", and it never seems to do them any harm!!

that's not true

when it's dark hormones are released in our bodies that make us tired telling us it's time to go to sleep. That's how animals know when to go to sleep, and that's why if u stay up all night u're usually really tired during the dark hours and when it gets lighter u get abit less tired...

it's a biological thing that we sleep during the night and are awake during the day, not just something that we're accostumed to.

I had to do that for awhile when I worked in a call centre a few years ago. I worked the 3:00pm to 11:30 shift, if I remember right.

I'm a nightowl to begin with, so it sounded like a good idea on paper... It was MISERABLE. The worst part was that I never got to see my family. I was asleep when they went off to work, they were still gone when I had to leave, they were going to bed when I got home, and my friends had jobs with slightly more normal hours, so I never saw them either.

I really missed family dinner. I just plain missed Mom's cooking too. Besides coworkers who were as busy as I was, and the usually upset people I got to talk to on the phone, the main human contact I had was with some New Zelanders I would talk to online after I got home from work, because they were the only people I knew awake at that hour. Talk about a one-way ticket to loserville...it was a lonely experience.

And yes, it is unnatural, because with the exception of people like watchmen or sailors, flipped schedules traditionally haven't really been all that common. This didn't change much until less than a hundred years ago when electric light sources became standard.

The human body uses the blue wavelengths found in natural sunlight to regulate the circadian rythms, which tell you things like when to be sleepy or awake, when to eat, or what part of the month it is. Cut down on the amount of natural sunlight you're exposed to, and things go a little haywire. Depression and low energy aren't uncommon. The combination of sitting for 8 hours a day and appetites being thrown out of wack can also wreak havoc on the waistline. I couldn't believe how many of the people I worked with were really fat. The skinny ones either smoked or didn't last long. I was in the latter group.

Sunlamps helped keep me somewhat sane, but I started getting really seriously sick constantly because my immune system was shot after about 3 months. I started working days first chance I could, but I was already somewhat depressed and quite ill, and the job stress didn't let things get much better.

Yeah, there is something sort of romantic to the nightlife, but trust me, unless you're a born partier, it wears off after about 2 weeks.

I know living in the night is hard and could be miserable, but is because we have the conception of live when the sun is in the sky.

We are million and million of people in all over the wolrd and believe that everybody can work at the same schedule sounds like something impossible, not to mention all the problems it could make, for example traffic.

If you ask me I prefer work in the morning and have all the rest of the day,but I guess is because I never had a chance to do something different.

Of course the body would be affected, but the body is strong.I am not saying that you do not have to listen to your body, but I am think is something mental. You can prepare your body and mind.

I guess that with the time this idea would not sound like crazy like it sounds now

During the school year I sleep about 6 hours a day, sometimes even less. I usually realise that I've got loads of homework only about 1 am so I have to do it and all... So I go to bed about 2 am and wake up about 7:30 am. And I can't say I feel too tired, it's kinda normal for me, I can even sleep about 3-4 hours a day if it's necessary.

But in summer everything changes, I don't have to wake up early so I prefer to stay awake almost all night. Last summer I've been going to bed about 7 am and waking up about 2-3 pm and it was fine for me 'cause I like night life. I mean, when everybody's asleep and you're the onlyone who's awake... Just cool. Besides, my city is just beautiful at nights, especially in summer, we've got white nights and all. So it's pretty cool to go for a walk about 3 am in June or whenever.

I think if I didn't have to wake up and go studing I'd spend my mornings in bed and my nights awake.

I don't consider myself as a hardcore night child. It's true that I remember to do things at night (like making bracelets at 11pm while I was bored all the day and had nothing to do) and I also sleep all the morning and wake up at 11am each weekend, but I don't like studying at night, partly because I can't have the light turned on in my room after a certain hour, plus I prefer studying or doing homework in the evening.

i prefer studying in the morning but it's very hard for me to start.it goes like:so now it's 1:00pm i'll start at 1:30.Time comes and again i'd better have a cup of tea and i'll start at 3:00.In the end i really have to go now and learn cos it's 10:30pm and i haven't even started:( damn

well, some people just have to be asleep at certain times because their bodies can't handle the new schedules.

But I can wake up for anything if I have to and sleep whenever when I want to.

There have been times when I have been out and about from 1am to 6am partying or studying or just hanging out and I am not tired at all. Its a mental thing. Sleep will come later .. I tell myself. And then I can just stay up and do whatever I want.

It actually is pretty interesting. Being in places and doing things you normally do during the daylight hours. Like going into a store or ordering up at a restaurant. Or watching a movie at 3am.

wow that is awesome stuff

anyway. It all depends on how your body can take it.

I have had WEEKS where all I did was stay up late at night and into the late morning and slept a few hours before work and it was all okay. No troubles with the sleep or anything. And people where all like "dag, thats gonna bite you in the ass"

NO

Its, like I said, a body tolerance.

I wish you could try to go to a 24/7 store (like Walmart in the Usa)

just to see that outside there is a "night civilization".

A few days ago my friends and I went to a store at 2:30 am and the we stay in a park near our houses just to talk about nothing in particular. We call that place "the benches",cause we sit to talk and talk.Sometimes we sty till 4:00 am.Thank God my city is not really dangerous (at least the place we live).

I recomend to do this if the next day is your day off or if you do not have to wake up early the next day

I'd be too afraid to hang out in the street at night! When I was in Melbourne about a year ago I stayed out really late (or early) and there were goths and scary people around. In my town there is a lot of teenage skaters that come out late and well...just strange people. I get scared easily too... :anxious:

Even worse - Dame Edna might be around!!
