Words to Describe Feelings

Featured Replies

Its a funny old thing this, aint it?

Like when you are suffering from what feels like the most horrendous emotional pain one day, all you can say is; "I'm sad"

Or in Coldplaying terms: " :cry2: "

I hope in the future we dont have to communicate with words, rather, everyone can tell exactly what we're thinking and how we feel by instantly seeing us.

Yeah, cuz that aint half scary Reilly, yehuck.

it would be so much easier... right? but sometimes is better the person not know what's happening (I'm going through that now)...

Im feelin the vibes Mig, I'm feelin em

I remember you having the same problem... how did it end?

Whenever I'm doing any serious writing and not just chatting, I sort of think of word use as an art form. I have a very vivid imagination, and I usually think more in very abstract feelings and images than words. To speak is to throw words at the mental picture, hoping some will stick to it well enough to give a little glimpse of what it actually looks like, much like an artist used paint before the age of the photograph.

Monet used some big clumsy chunks of colour, but the results are actually more beautiful and convey so much more than a photograph actually could. If I ever get to the point where I can do that with words, I'll be unspeakably happy.

BTW welcome back, Reilly. :)

actually, the face mimic describes words and feelings better than anything else

you can "read" much more than only words from person's smile, look etc.

I agree...and behaviour is also a factor I'd say...

Well, sometimes, words can describe feelings... nothing special, here, right?

But when you can't find words to describe what you're thinking, what you're feeling, when what you feel is so strong, so intense...

all the words you know aren't enough to say this...

It's so good, so frustating, sometimes, but it means you can have great intense feelings and those feelings are like an unknown land, you just discover...

Have you ever felt such feeling?

I think we have all had times where the lack of words for feelings made us frustrated.

It really does feel like being a baby again and not having ANY words at all... when you can't find the ones you have in your vocabulary to express yo self.

So you use this: :dozey: for vocabulary.

But really really, It frustrates the bees outta me when I just can't, don't, will not, can't make possible words for expression.

Reilly's back? And I wasn't informed?

Isn't that waht love is about? Not trying to be all sappy, but when you do not have to describe your emtions, they can just be understood, throguh expressions and gestures. At least, that is what I have been led to believe.

And 'cry2.gif' looks like he is having an orgasm.

thats a pretty good point^^^^

Eventually, with some people who are close to us, words aren't as often a necessity, you begin to understand each other in a silent way. Friends, family, and our loves.

Like, a look is all it takes, or a word, a touch.

And then things aren't so frustrating. But sometimes...

that's true...

the problem is there are many ppl who lack in that area. They cant sense when someone else is sad/happy/angry by their expressions and tone of voice...

it's something u learn as a child... so some ppl just cant tell

it annoys me when im sad or angry and a person would act with me like nothing is wrong...

im usually quite good in detecting how other ppl are feeling without them having to tell me anything

it'd be cool, in the future, that existed this new way to communicate one towards the others but like Miguel said, only to certain persons that you really wanted to.

I agree with the others posters replies. They're right. And I can add something else: what happens when you feel sth that you can't figure out? How can you expect to find words to explain what you're feeling if in your deeply inness you can't do it? (i know it's not a common situation, but sometimes happens)

Ah! btw, when I'm sad I rather use these smileys:  :bigcry:

BUT ..but ....but :uhoh: ...Ian thinks the smilies are cool enough!

'Smilies' are small graphical images that can be used to convey an emotion or feeling. If you have used email or internet chat, you are likely familiar with the smilie concept. Certain standard strings are automatically converted into smilies. Try twisting your head on one side if you do not 'get' smilies; using a bit of imagination should reveal a face of some description.

:smug:

recognize it? :wink3:
