My friends are killing me

Featured Replies

Nope - that's a cop out. Try giving your own examples.;)

I have two more examples - James Blunt and Katie Melua.

Both mind-numbingly boring.;)

yes, they are both boring. i don't like them, although i did purchase Back To Bedlam, but was extremely disappointed and never listened to it again.

Katie Melua's singles bore the shit out of me, i don't even care to give a chance to any of her albums

here's an example:

many people would call hip hop shit here, probably. although, it's definitely not true. there were/are good hip hop artists (Public Enemy, Notorius BIG, Beastie Boys) and bad (mainstream hip hop/rap).

so it's just a matter of taste, if you ask me. but describing hip hop as shit generally is harsh and stupid. you either like it as genre or not, but don't generalise ;)

True - it would be inappropriate to generalise in that sense. However, your average "person in the street" who only listens to hip hop/r&b is probably only doing so because it's perceived as "trendy" and is always in your face.;)

OK to the topic.....my friends listen to Hip- Hop and R&B and dance and maybe techno if they listen to music.....so first of all I must say that for me there does not exist any crap music-style....yeah even hip- hop can be nice....I'm not one of them who says "Ahhhh I listen to brit-pop and that's it!"" very limited I'd say....;)

However.....I just accepted the fact that they don't listen to the same music like me....and I accept their taste of music as they do mine (as far as they know the bands I listen to...haha...).....I also accept the fact that they don't have the same interests like me in general.......so most of the time I am the one who has to live with this,.......I mean to talk about their interests because they are the majority....haha i think I just got used to it...but sometimes I get the feeling that there is somethnig important missing in my life.....that has to do with my interests...like going to a nice concert for example...i could never imagine to go to a concert with my friends.....

I don't know how it is about your friends lera, I mean if they live the life- style their music expreses....because then i think it's becoming a problem....

if not then I think that you should just try to accept this fact and maybe find other things to talk about....ok I don't know your friends....but i think if they really are your friends then there must be a reason why they are your friends....

like I said before.....in case of interests I feel not content with my friends....and sometimes i really wish i had other friends...with who I can talk about the things I'm interested in....but when I'm with them I most of the time know why they are my friends....and why they are so important to me and stuff....

the problem is with media and it's power, the television and all the "trendy things" as you mentioned do pressure on all those 14-17 years old teenagers who are not really ready to decide themselves what they really want...i know it, because i was under the same influence. 3-4 years ago when I was around 12-13 i wanted to get the same shoes as one of my friends from the school, thanks to friends i got into hip hop and particularly rap.

i used to listen to it years ago, last year i found around 30 rap/hip hop Cds at home and scratched almost all of them. the rest i'll give to my half-brother who'll be 10 next month

i liked it, because i thought it was cool. thank god, i started to differentiate music from crap around 2 years ago

i can't really blame all those people, they just probaly don't realise that they are not really controlling themselves, some of them will realise that and will reject the TV and trend pressure, some not ;)

Well there's no such thing as bad tatse, there's such thing as different tastes blah-blah-blah... I don't give a shit. Maybe I should, but I just don't. If I don't like the band and I think it's shit - it's a bad music taste for me. That's the point, that's about your own opinion.

I'm not saying I hate all hip-hop, not at all. But Russian hip-hop and Russian pop is something that can kill people, seriously. I won't name the bands here because you lucky people don't know such names anyway.

If my friends liked James Blunt or Pussycat dolls it'd be probably less offensive and sad for me. Because James Blunt sucks of course, but he's not that bad, you know. At least there'd be some foreign music for god's sake. But Russian music through and through... Oh that's sad.

And the most annoying part is that these people think they're real music lovers, I mean, they believe they can hold smart conversations about music just because they read Rolling Stone lol. They take "smart quotes" from crappy magazines and just pretend those are their own thoughts, that kills me.

But how can you think you're a good in music if you don't even know The Beatles or Queen? God.

^^ i SO know wat u r talking about, coz i kinda feel the same.. with the ppl i'm around me who lsn to arabic music.. :dozey:

Well it's lucky for you that you managed to come to your senses and "escape" before it was too late, then!!

"Fashion victims" are lame - regardless of whether it's to do with the clothes they're wearing or the music they're listening to.

It's yet another example of "sheep syndrome".;)

Yuk! That must be awful!!:stunned:
