Wednesday's match will the biggest the Danish champions have played at their home ground, Copenhagen managing director Flemming Ostergaard said.

"With all due respect for the other teams we have met, the game against Manchester United is the biggest," Ostergaard said. "It is the world's most popular club."

Man U was the most popular according to "the stupid statistics" back in 2004, 2003 etc., last year Madrid have overtaken the lead once again according to "the stupid statistics" ;)

Liverpool FC Britain's best supported

Liverpool are now considered to be the best supported British club across the world, with 18m supporters. But every Liverpool fan knew this already. Anyone who watched the lack of passion and support for Chelsea in the League Cup and CL semi against us will have seen you can buy players but you cannot buy passion and pride!

And as for Man Utd there will be even less noise in $old Trafford when the ticket prices go up again to pay for Mr Glazers debts. How many more prawn sandwiches will they have to sell to pay back $500m?

The top nine best supported European clubs

1. Real Madrid

2. Barcelona

3. LIVERPOOL

4. Juventus

5. Milan

6. Manchester United

7. Arsenal

8. Bayern Munich

9. Chelsea

A report published today by German-based Sport+Markt AG has revealed that following the recent Champion League success our worldwide fan base has increased by 10 million.

It goes on to say that we can now boast 18 million supporters across the world, a figure bettered only by Real Madrid (32 million) and Barcelona (23 million) in Europe.

Spokesman Oliver Butler says: The huge increase in the number of Liverpool fans showed how influential success can be in the size of support. The size of the increase would also point to a high level of latent support which had gone underground due to a recent lack of success.

just because Charlton Athletic are unknown everywhere in the World and last in the Premiership this year, you don't have to act like a fool ;)

At least I don't support a team just because they're "big".;)

it's only your problem if you think i support a club because that club is big and Charlton are nowhere after Alan's departure ;)

If you were a genuine fan, you would support your hometown club or a club connected to you in some way. Unfortunately you're just one of those many "glory hunters".;)

At least Miguel doesn't fall into that category.:smug:

i do support my hometown team (Shinnik Yaroslavl and Spartak Moscow thanls to my dad) i also do support a team from a city where i lived for many years (Ferencvaros) but i also support teams whose football i like (i got my first Man U t-shirt and became fan when i was 7, first Barca kit for my 12th birthday and also became fan after that)

supporting rating:

Ferencvaros > Barca > Man Utd > Shinnik = Spartak

Unfortunately you're just one of those many "glory hunters"

with this sentence you just called millions of Man United fans for example who weren't born in Manchester "glory hunters", congrats!

i believe Sally is Swiss, but lives in Liverpool and supports Pool. she's a glory hunter, too? lol

your next post will be about "Coldplay are English, and everyone else in the World, despite Brits, who likes them is a glory hunter" :laugh3:

lol@you

Do we have any Chesterfield fans on the forum?

Not good enough. A REAL supporter only supports ONE team. You've just proved you're not ONE of them.;)

with this sentence you just called millions of Man United fans for example who weren't born in Manchester "glory hunters"' date=' congrats![/quote']

Unfortunately, that's true. The vast majority of Man U supporters are only "fans" because of their size and the fact they win a lot of the time. They don't have any real connection with the club.;)

i believe Sally is Swiss' date=' but lives in Liverpool and supports Pool. she's a glory hunter, too? lol

Sally has now lived in Liverpool and has a bf there, so she has cultivated a connection. Therefore she's excused.:P

your next post will be about "Coldplay are English' date=' and everyone else in the World, despite Brits, who likes them is a glory hunter"

That has to be just about the most stupid statement you've ever made! And given your past record, that MUST be stupid!!:laugh3:

Do we have any Chesterfield fans on the forum?

Well if there are, they've probably well and truly disappeared back into the woodwork now, given the fact they're now out of BOTH cup competitions!!:laugh3:

your point is as weak as always

i'd like to see people's opinions on this theme like Mo or some American fans who support European teams.

you really are idiotic, if you think we are not real fans.

your point with Sally is very weak, just because she has a boyfriend and lives in 'pool doesn't make her not "glory hunter" following your logic

A REAL supporter only supports ONE team

asshole, you do realise that Ferencvaros and Barcelona are not in the same category, don't you?

your point is as weak as always

Nope - YOURS is!!;)

I'd like to see people's opinions on this theme like Mo or some American fans who support European teams.

They're entitled to their opinions.

Although Liverpool won the Champions' League a couple of seasons ago, they haven't had that much success in recent years, therefore "glory hunters" wouldn't be interested in them.;)

They're both FOOTBALL teams, and that's all that matters.;)

oh jesus, Liverpool is the most succesful English club

you attacked many people with that post, including Sally, and now you are trying to change your idiotic opinion :laugh3:

oh jesus' date=' Liverpool is the most succesful English club[/quote']

Not currently. "Glory hunters" aren't interested in history, only in teams which are top of the pile NOW.;)

Nope. You just can't take it because you're "one of them"!!:laugh3:

hahaha i started to support united in 97, i was 7. go and figure if you can, if a 7 years old kid can decide what is glory and what is not

in 2002 barca were in deep shit and not where are they now. is it still "glory hunting"?

jeez, grow up. i can't believe you don't support any german teams, just because i support a foreign club it doesn't mean i only support it because of results. ridiculous. if in 10 years i won't support neither Barca or Man U, then you can come back to me, but till then, your point is weak ;)

Well if there are' date=' they've probably well and truly disappeared back into the woodwork now, given the fact they're now out of BOTH cup competitions!!:laugh3:[/quote']

That's a shame, I was going to laugh at them for losing to Basingstoke Town, the team currently bottom of the conference south :laugh3:

hahaha i started to support united in 97' date=' i was 7. go and figure if you can, if a 7 years old kid can decide what is glory and what is not[/quote']

At that age, you would have been very easily influence by what was in front of you. Man U were very much "top of the tree" at that time. If they hadn't been, you would probably have ended up liking ANOTHER team that WAS.;)

in 2002 barca were in deep shit and not where are they now. is it still "glory hunting"?

You have no reason to like Barca other than that they're a "big team". If you had said you liked Alaves or a team like that, I might have been impressed.

As I've said before, you have no connection with those teams and therefore can never be considered a "real" fan. Hard luck!

your point is as weak as always

haha good discussion

most of those points are waek for other reasons

yeah i am from switzerland and i do support me local team, which is basel. its just that nobody on here discusses swiss football. the same goes for the russian team you support obviously.

but why shouldnt i go to football matches when i'm in england?

and how does me bf matter? he doesnt even support liverpool.

that's what i was saying to him. but mc_squared is just a proud Brit.

you do realise that Mark brought up the bf theme, right?

Maybe, but you've still cultivated a link with Liverpool. That's the main thing.

It's very easy to say you support teams such as Man U, Barcelona or Real Madrid, because they're such huge teams who win a lot.

20 years or so ago the same could have been said of Liverpool, but not any more.;)

What drew you to Liverpool FC, anyway?

that's what i was saying to him. but mc_squared is just a proud Brit.

That was just to wind you up. And it worked.:smug:
