How spontaneous are you?

Featured Replies

Ok first of all:

I know that I've created exactly the same thread maybe a year ago....but I can't find it anymore....

and this topic came to my mind today again, because some of my class mates made a spontaneous trip to the sea yesterday.....

well.....the sea is maybe 400km away from here......we even have to leave the country and to go to the Netherlands....

they went there yesterday after school and came back this morning before school....that means they were sitting at the sea the whole night.....in the cold weather...

would you do things like that?

Honestly....I wouldn't!

Because I would be someone you thinks too much about those things before.......like the fuel is too expensive etc....

in other situations I'd say Iam spontaneous....but it depends on the situation and the consequences....

Oh yeah I am.

Actually I've got a chaos in my head and all and I'm always ready to do something crazy, like going to the beach at night or hitch-hike for a week or anything. But the problem is that I need a good company.

Of course, I could do such things all alone, but it's not that funny and quite dangerous sometimes. So I need some really good friends to join me.

And too bad there're no spontaneous people around me... no more... Almost all my friends are like "uh.... yeah.... yeah, that'd be great, but you know, we can't just leave everything and do it.... we should plan it and all.... I'll think about it later and maybe... yeah.... uh...." and so on. Duh.

I mean, come on, you're 16-17-18-19 or how old my friends are and you can't do anything without thinking for an hour before it?... That upsets me so much.

I mean, I want some really 'light on feet' free people to be my friends or at least to support me in my crazy ideas

heeh I think in this case i must admit that I am more like your friends there....and sometimes it sucks....I mean I always see it as a big problem that I am so dependant on my parents.....I always think I have to do the things that please them....and not to do somehing against their will....man I'm 19 and actually can do what I want to...

So you say you want to do some spontaneous things? The point is that some people don't do them 'cause they don't want to. And if you want to but too worried about your parents's opinion...

Well, from one side it's good 'cause you love them and care about them

But from the other side I think in everybody's life there must be a place for something insane.

You know, my sister is like you, she's also 19 and she also does never do anything 'wrong' or dangerous or anything spontaneous... I don't know if it's 'cause of the parents or not... But it's too bad for me, 'cause I'm very different from my sister so my parents, you know, were not 'prepared' for such behaviour  So they probably see me as a kind of a rebel comparing to my sis lol.

Yeah sometimes I would like to do maybe crazy spontaneous thins....but I know then hat my parents won't be pleased and so I better won't do those things.......that's why I am happy when I live alone....sounds stupid maybe...

Good thread

I actually think about doing spontaneus things all the time but I never get to the point. I'd love to do a trip to the sea like that

yeah i think i am. i didnt use to be very spontanous but i think that changed a bit in recent years. i like being spontanous and i'd definitely make a trip if i felt like doing it. it just sounds like a lot of fun! it depends a lot on me mood though, there were times when i was really depressed and i didnt feel like doing anything special at all but at the moment i definitely would.

.......that's why I am happy when I live alone....sounds stupid maybe...

nah, it doesnt. thats what i thought for years. i realised that one of me parents wont be pleased with whatever i do if its not exactly what they want me to do. i dont wanna be the person he wants me to be and i just cant. i'm sick of being told 'i just want you to be happy' when they obviously dont give a damn. i dont think i have to justify anything i'm doing, i'm old enough to make me own decisions. all i can say is that i feel a lot better when i live on me own or with friends.

i dont think your situation is the same. it sounds like you get on really well with your parents and that you actually care about what they're saying. however if that is the case i'm sure they'll understand that you're not little girl no more and that you're making your own decisions. so maybe they're just a bit worried, which might change if they see that you made them things before and didnt get into trouble.

yes I think I would do that if I felt like it but it's like lera says, doing that kind of stuff alone just isn't as fun as doing them together with a good friend or two so therefor I'd probably stay at home if I didn't magange to get anyone to come along...which kinda sucks. I think it's a bit sad that many people are so bound to their friends that they can't do fun things alone. I am one of those people for sure :wacky:.

Anyway, back to the topic.

Yes I see myself as a quite spontaneous person. I'm not the one who sits down and start to worry about certain things when something fun is coming up, and if someone asks me if I want to join whatever they are gonna do I defenatly say yes most of the time. I'm more spontaneous and random when speaking to people than when it comes to doing things though. It's more likely that I say something random than that I will go fishing or swimming just like that.

I did go swimming by myself before though, when the time was like 9 at night and it was really dark lol and I went out running too around 9 in the dark. That was fun. Sometimes I can get a spontaneous idea but then when I am like half way through it go do something else and leave everything that I was doing behind haha

I don't think I'm spontaneous - not at all! I'm a quite anxious, careful person who has to think everything through - and as soon as I finished thinking it through, the moment has passed anyway... I need to plan everything in advance, which is making me CRAZY, because I WISH I'd be more spontaneous and risk more, but I simply can't..

I can't even think of anything spontaneous I've done in my life. Well, even the spontaneous thing to go to London to see Coldplay was planned some months in advance ;) The only spontaneous thing I can remember is getting close to a guy who's just been a normal person before.. I think that was the first time for a long, long time that I just jumped into cold water and did something completely unexpected - and it turned out horrible, so I guess I won't do that again that soon :P

Hmm, yes, i would say i'm spontaneous. But just like some else have said, it's not fun do spontaneous things alone. I prefer doing that kind of stuff with my friends. I actually have one friend who's really spontaneous..we made couple of trips together around Finland last summer.

I think i'd be even more spontaneous if i didn't have to worry about what my parents are gonna think and say about it..after all i live still with them, so i just can't have a totally spontaneous trip to the sea as Julia's friends can :(

I'd love to be 18 and to live alone and be able to do all the stuff i want to! Like leaving the house at 4 am to see the sunrise

I was taking care of my aunt's cats last summer and i spent the whole week there alone. It was pretty cool to be there totally alone..the house is in the countryside, so i hardly saw any other people..it was cool! and they even paid for me for doing it

Haha, most of that text is probably totally off topic

i'm half/half.

one hand i'm spontaneous and make decisions on impulse which has turned out fairly great for the most part. out of nowhere i'd decide to go somewhere (either locally, nationally or internationally) and just go...

on the other hand, i'm extra careful. i have to plan and schedule things so i know they will turn out as i can worry a lot about unecessary things. at first i was very caution but as i get older, i've become more spontaneous and....i love it!

a friend said to me last week that i'm hard to read (thank goodness) because i'm very impulsive in decision-making and do things out of the blue. i told him "aren't you glad you have a friend like me then ;) " lol

Yeah I get along really well with them.....and you are right....I think they already know that I'm not a little girl anymore.....but something in myself keeps telling me that I should better listen to them.....I think I haven't accepted yet that I am more independant since I am officially an adult....and I even think they wouldn't be upset or somethnig like that if I did things they are not that pleased with.....maybe they would be worried at first......my Dad once said to me: "I can't and don't want to make your decisions.....I only can give you advices.....!"......that sentence is stuck in my head.......because I like this attitude and it shows me that they let me make my own decisions.....

spontaneous...........

^thats quote spontaneous i think.

a friend of mine would always say that at the most oddest and inappropriate moments lol you really reminded me of him. not sure that's a good thing

that's good to hear! i don't think anyone would feel like this if one's parents stop you from doing anything. they might be worried from time to time and stop you but this will happen less often once you showed them that you're able to make important decisions yourself. i understand how you feel, even though i haven't really been in that position myself. i think this will change a lot when you have to move to another town when you go to uni.

i'm not spontaneous at all

i keep making plan about things and all

what's wrong with me??? :embarassed:

oh, fuck, Julia, that trip sounded like a whole lot of fun!

how cool is that? ... seriously...

and yes, i'm quite spontaneous.

i always come up with the dumbest ideas and all that... like... "c'mon, let's go to mcDonald's"... well, i've slept over my friend's and it was about 1 am. hahahaha. that was so cool.

but yeah, being spontaneous is a very nice contrast to our oh so well-organized lives. it's like the colour red among all the black, white and grey...

i sometimes do crazy stuff...just for laughs of course

i think i was more earlier, but now i am 18 and an adult, so i am not allowed to do crazy things anymore:cry:

heeey of course you can do crazy things eventhough you have turned 18 :surprised: I don't think you should ever lose your crazyness/childish side, it doesn't matter if you are 12 or 46. It makes me sad when people think that they have to stop doing crazy and chidlish things when they feel that they are becoming adults. What could possible be wrong with doing some fun and childish thing sometimes?

:) of course i was just kidding. but anyway, i think that i was more sponteanous in the past, but that has nothing to do with being 18:) . today i am more the one who plans
