I had heard them before, but you know, heard the ned of a song on the radio or something and seriously I was to young to like Coldplay then, I listened to Good Charlotte and Rancid so...:embarassed:  ;)

But then I saw the troublevideo and I loved the song, and later my moms friend was talking about coldplay cause it was something about them on the tv (a video or something) and I borrowed parachutes from her and then i was totally sold. I loved it with every inch of my body. That was last summer.

i once wrote 5 pages in my journal about how i found coldplay because it took a while to get to the bottom of. im certainly not going to get into ALL of that now because someone will kill me, but here's the gist of it:

my mom had AROBTTH when it first came out. this was before i liked music much at all, so i didnt really care. she used to play it in the car for like a month straight, but the only song i remember hearing is "clocks", strangely enough. i heard it all the time on the radio, and i thought it was a really good song, but i didnt care about music then. my school band played "clocks" at our christmas concert. my dad also got the CD for christmas from his sister (if you knew my dad, youd understand how hilarious this is). i got into music when i came back from england, and i wouldnt listen to anything but the beatles for a year and a half. i somehow knew who coldplay were and what they looked like and all, but i didnt know anything besides clocks.

then when i was in 10th grade in april (im a senior now), my friend got all excited because coldplay came out with a new single. she made everyone listen to it on her ipod, but somehow i never got around to it. i made a mental note (as i had done countless times before) to listen to AROBTTH because she was making such a big deal about it, but before i could, in may 2005, i saw the SoS video on VH1. i remember that so clearly. i saw the writing in the corner and was like, "oh so this is what emma's talking about" and sat down to watch it, and by the time it was over, i was ABSOLUTELY HOOKED. i was captivated, by the song, by the lights, by the way chris moved. i was speechless. i got out my mom's AROBTTH and listened to it right then. i was in love.

that whole next week i had to study for exams, but i kept mega hits on in the next room on high volume and every time i heard the opening piano to SoS, i RAN into the room to see chris again.

a year and a half later, im completely obsessed.

oh, one funny thing: the "first" time i heard in my place right after i saw the SoS video for the first time, i realized i knew that song really well. i subconsciosly played that riff in my mind whenever i was really happy, and i somehow knew all the words. it was kinda creepy. i guess i heard it a lot in restaurants and stuff.

yeah, that wasnt so short.

That's what got me obsessed ... but it was June 2005.. so 18 months ago.

Holy crap it's been a long time!!

I started to like Coldplay when Yellow came out, I just wasn't really obsessed.

Now I am though:D

I remember watching the Yellow video when it first came out and wondering why he was walking along a beach and why there was nothing yellow in the video. I thought it was very weird. My brothers had the parachutes album but I thought the music was really slow and boring so I never really listened to it, just Yellow. When my brother got AROBTTH for his birthday I pretended not to like it because he liked it. I used to steal it from him and secretly listen to it in my bathroom. I first became obsessed when I heard Green Eyes and it was just a crapshoot from there. I used to take the cd to class and everything. So I guess from when I first heard them I knew they were special.

LOL at pretending not to like Coldplay because your brother did!! I do that all the time with my sister :P

The first time I heard Coldplay, Yellow was playing on Video Hits and I hated it with a passion. I didn't really hear anything else from them up until about two years ago, where I decided to download 'The Scientist' after just hearing the chorus. Then, every other song I downloaded of theirs (including Yellow), I loved!

It's so weird when I think 'how did I NOT like this song??'

And I fell in love really in love, and with speed of sound well i was inmediately a too big fan :D

It was my teacher who said well this is a great band, i had a presentation for the subject history, and well some songs on my usb, and the presentation and he told about coldplay, and we talked about 30 minutes about coldplay !

It was amazing :d

Really i was sold then :D

I remember picking "Parachutes" up when it was first released because it was by a new British band and I'd never heard of them. Then I saw them on Saturday Night Live (hosted by Alec Baldwin, I think?), and from then on I told everyone about Coldplay. And they were like, "Who?" Two years later and the same people were asking me, "Hey, you hear of this new band called Coldplay? That song 'The Scientist' is awesome.'" I was like, "Uh, yeah, I told you about them a long time ago."

Wow first post ever... but yeah i was one of those marketing testers where big companies would send me something to test out and see if youth my age would like it... then i got a music cd with like simple plan (before they got big) and groups like that, i listened to it and i kept comming back to this one song on the cd, it was incredible, i looked it up and it was In my place and the rest is history

The first time was when I saw Yellow video, about in 2000. It's the 15th track of the video CD I'd just bought. I fell asleep through the videos before it, but when I heard Yellow's prelude I immediately set up to watch the whole video, and kept playing it again and again. I remember I was totally absorbed by the way the melody goes, the way that guy walks along the beach and sing out such beautiful lyrics with his very strange, very warm voice :heart::heart: although he's not handsome anymore :laugh3:. I've been a fan of them since then and to me Coldplay is another Fab Four after the Beatles.

Now Yellow is still my most favourite Coldplay song & MV, and I always call it the least handsome Chris video :laugh3:

LOL^

I liked Yellow and then a couple of years later I heard The Scientist and Clocks and I started to get a little obsessed with them. I remember once when I was 11 my mom and I being at Walgreens at 1am for some reason and I saw the AROBTTH cd and asked my mom for it and she said no (ugh.) Then I forgot about them and then in '05 at like 4am I saw the Speed of Sound vid.

And now I'm here. :D

Coldplay and I have a strange and wonderful journey...

Let's just say I first hear a 2 second excerpt of "Trouble" and that was more interesting to me than any other musical selection. Then Clocks came out and I knew about Coldplay.. Then I heard The Scientist and I was lost on them. I actually became "obsessed" when X&Y came out. Took me a while, but like I said, strange and wonderful.

Well, I should admit, that at first I saw an article on a sheet of a newspaper, it wasn't even a newspaper, it was JUST a little piece of a torn newspaper. There was written, that there is such a band in England, called "Coldplay", they play this, this and this. I hadn't known it before, I hadn't listened to their even a single song, but I suddenly realised, that I loved this band already without havinglistened to their songs. Long after this case, I suddenly caught "In My Place" on TV. I was as happy as I could have been.:laugh3:

Well, I was changing channels on tv and then I stopped at mtv...And after a video of Oasis, in my place came out...I totally felt in love with it and I thought: woah, what do we have here? So I waited to see the name of the band in the end of it and I discovered it was a band called coldplay... :smug:
