iPod problems thread..

Featured Replies

Do any of your iPods ever stop mid-song, and then start dragging out the lyrics, and then you try to shut it off, and you cant, and it stays that way even when you charge and it takes forevvvvvvver to go back to normal?

My iPods 2 years old and Im afraid its dieing..

Unless these are normal problems..

I dunno.

Mine once started to drag the lyrics so I switched it off. I got home plugged it in and unplugged properly and it worked. It must have not been disconected properly.

I think that is the only problem.

My nano's scroll wheel and buttons stopped working, after 3 months.

And it's now on "product replacement pending" on the apple support site, the main problem is that it was a red Nano, so was limited edition. If they try to get me to accept another colour, I will try to get a 8GB version out of them :sneaky:

I'm thinking of getting a ipod..but seeing as ppl seem to be having problems..i might have to do more research and find a alternative!!

Do it!!

Sometimes my wheel will freeze, and not work for a minute, sometimes I will charge it for one week non stop, goto use it, and it will say please connect to power source, and lately my songs have been dissapearing from the list, I dont mean the music, just the song titles on the menu, and a last summer, it didnt turn on for over 3 months, I left it on the USB cord with my computer on all the time to try and wake it up, and after months, the apple logo finally appeared..

I have alot of problems with my iPod, Im considering getting a new one.

I still have an iPod mini, but I love mine, its the perfect size and looks almost new, it seems like the other versions of the iPod (photo, video, nano..ect) scratch extremely easily, while I can drop mine anywhere and it wont have a scratch..

I just dont understand all these problems Im having with it, I take very good care of it!

It is nearly 2 years old.

They are not build to last that long.

Really?? If I am going to spend upwards of 500 dollars I expect it to last for at least that amount of time!!!!

Thats sh*tty.

I paid over $200, I would expect more than 3 years.

I haven't had any problems with the iPod I have now, but then again, I just bought it last week (I bought the new generation 30gb video iPod). I had to get a new one because my other one got stolen. Anyway, with that one, I had to change it once. The first time, I had to change it because when I would play a song, the screen would turn off and then when I turned it back on, the screen would turn white, but you could still hear the music. I went back to where I bought it and exchanged it for a new one.

I had my mini for like three years, it survived even though I used it every single day... pretty reliable. A few weeks ago I got a black nano... working perfectly so far. You just have to be lucky.

Im in mad love with my mini despite all the defects.

I think that I would rather have a mini that causes some problems sometimes than have that damn nano. I hate how tiny they are..I like to feel the weight of things that cost that much money in my hands.

I dont really care for a video.

So once my mini finally croaks, Im going to be buying a new one off eBay since they discontinued it.

...from the repair shop?

Don't you have the data stored on your computer?

If that is the case it's pretty simple to connect up and it will copy over the stuff.

no, i only have the videos and the photos on my pc.

but the most important stuff is NOT on my computer. O___o

argh...why did that have to happen!??!

i just cannot believe it.

i'm still staring at the screen..the empty screen.

That happened to mine as well once, but mine wouldn't turn on for about 2-3 months, but when it finally came back to life I had to restore it, and that will fix the 9,0gb left issue. Its a pain in the ass, and will take forever to put your music back on but you dont really have an option now do you? haha.

Good luck with your iPod.

i'm currently putting my music back on it.

it's gonna take ages.

:dozey:

but thank god it's not really broken... so... yeah, my problem is not that big compared to other people's problems.

The advantage of getting a little 4GB (red) Nano, is that if it restores it doesn't take long to copy all the songs over and also it makes me look cool.

AHHH! thought all problems were solved, but... my fuckin ipod is not able to show pictures any more!

not even album covers!

it always says that an error occured when i want to put pics on it!

Wow I've never realized how problematic iPods can be. I had a mini for like 3 years- not a single problem. I've had a black nano, 8gb for a few months- not a single problem.

i just got an ipod nano 2nd gen 8gig black, and its working pretty good. i haven't had any problems with it so far, and i hope i'll not in the future. the pros of a nano comparing to the 30/60/80 gig iPods is that it is flash-based so you can exercise with it, run with it. if you do that with a 30 gig iPod (which btw is HDD based) it wont last more than 12 months.
