So moving on, anyone notice that Pitchfork is a very good read?

NME are pathetic

At least the The Horrors are up for a reward they deserve :laugh3:

what i like about NME:

 

- first they promote an artist as the "next big thing", after they put them on the worst band list

- NME put an album in both, worst and best album of the year categories. that's somehow not funny

- NME are one dimensional. like there's only "pop/rock" nowadays. other genres don't really get any mentions, do they?

 

seriously, this is trash. i'm not sure anymore which is worse, MTV or NME...

 

and i heard they used to be a good magazine......................

In their defence Nik, I think the shortlist wasn't drawn up by the employees of the magazine, just by the readers filling in forms and sending them in (hence why you have the same album in the best & worst areas).

 

They did use to be a good magazine, but they have gone downhill in recent years. Q and Mojo (and even Classic Rock) are better magazines for a wider range of news.

What is your favourite music mag? Here in Canada we have very limited music magazine resources. Rolling Stone seems to be the big one but too much politics for my liking.

1) the imports are quite expensive. i rather buy a CD for the same price

2) local magazines are crap. mostly hip-hop orientated

 

of all online music sites/"magazines" i prefer Pitchfork and Stylus

Thats my main reason. It's not right when an ad filled mag is the same price or more than an album. Well alot of them do come with cds which is a plus but still its usually just covers or something.
