El Murcurio: Coldplay 'Angers Chile With High Prices, Poor Access'

Featured Replies

I don't believe it unless it's a reliable source..:smug:

i really dont know what to think to be honest...

a lot of fans told me that chris was rude.

so maybe he has 2 personalitys

1-in front cameras and a lot of ppl

2-alone

who knows.

thats because i dont want to meet coldplay for now.:\

Well we know Chris is rather moody or got a split personality. Guy himself that that his mood swings are rather extreme, and you can see that in interviews, too. One interview he says how coldplay are the greatest and makes a lot of jokes and so on and then there's always this depressed bitter (or is that just me?) rock star thing where everything is shit in his eyes.

Great! I thought on 14 too, but I can´t go!

(es que me caes bien, por alguna razón, y eso que sólo te ubico de fotos!!)

awwwww

te agregué a msn de ahi hablamos!

:P Well it must have a one off type thing...i can't imagine Chris treating his fans like that....

Really? :worried:

Do you have the other ones then?

Aw wow.. that's so terribly sad for the fan  I'd imagine that Chris probably didn't want to be toured by a fan, because we can of course get excited and ask for autographs or ask questions about the band/music and things of that sort. I know Chris especially doesn't like to answer questions, he's always trying to squirm his way out of them it seems.

Nothing excuses what he did.. it just wasn't nice, but I wouldn't take it as a personal jab to her or demean Chris as a person for it. It was a personal preference and we're all allowed to have them - whether one is in big, famous band or not.

I think it's probably really hard at the moment - by the looks of things there have been crowds ofscreaming fans outside the hotel and paps following them around whenever they leave the hotel. He came out a few times to sign things and give out tickets, but I guess that sometimes he just wants to get on with things and have a bit of time to himself.

I know that it means that some people are disappointed when meeting him, but sadly I guess he must get so many people wanting to chat that it must be hard to be cheerful and fully engaged all the time with everyone.

I don't think he's a bad person - he wouldn't have come out twice to see people outside the hotel if he was, or given the free tickets. I think he's probably just stressed and tired from being on tour and is constantly in demand. At the moment it's just like having the pap's outside your house all the time... which would drive anyone crazy!

go to the Chris's pictures thread..i posted another story too.

i know..but he has to know he's no longer a regular person with regular demandings from society. he now has fans that gave him all that he owns and are pretty much responsable for the nice life he's leading, so it wouldn't hurt if he could only for 2 minutes even try to be nice than do this, in arrongant way that doesn't flatter him.

But this is what I mean - despite his job, he IS just a regular person. And regular people feel harrassed and stressed out sometimes.

We know he appreciates his fans - which is why he went out more than once to sign autographs and give out tickets in Chile. But he's not super-human.

It is a shame that people have these experieces, and I'd be disapointed too, but people also have to understand that it's not personal, he's just under enormous amounts of stress that none of us can even begin to understand.

It's easy to say that he owes the fans who put him there, but none of us have people coming up to us all day everyday, asking for things from us. It must be really exhausting to have that non-stop demand on you.

For every one bad experience that a fan has had meeting Coldplay, there seems to be several who have had an amazing time. That's good enough for me. They are only human...

That's my usual post on this subject. Thanks for sving me the typing, lol. You said it all!

Yes. We bought the albums and tickets. Yes. We are the ones who request their song. Yes. The fans take the band to where they are now. And, yes. Chris tries to be as kind as he can, and occasionally fails. But, He doesn't owe us every waking moment of his life, every ounce of energy he has, every new note he may not feel like playing yet. No matter how important the fans are to him or the others, they have to have time for themselves!!!

Coldplay fans are some of the nicest ppl I know...it's why I love this board so much. But I've heard alot of whining the last few days, and I can empathize with Chris wanting to duck! The difference is, I can avoid it if I want. When Cp are on tour, it's almost impossible for them to escape all the attention. Be fair, guys. Rant over...for now, lol.

i ask you this, how would you feel in that fan's skin in the moment when you meet the person who gave you so much in emotional way through his song and you just wanting to say Thanks?

i agree CP fans are nice that's main reason i come here for this much time and post so many posts.

whining? expressing opinions is now a negative thing ,huh? i have every single right to have an opinion i have about them atm.

what i find weird in your comment is the fact that you can more easily empathize with a millions worth rock star you have (probably) never meet than with fans you hang out here on the board every single day.

In his shoes, I have a feeling I would have done the same thing. I wasn't there of course, but something about the situation as it was described seems really awkward.

Providing this happened, I totally sympathise with her as a fangirl, it must have felt rotten, but she was there at a proffessional capacity.

You can be a fangirl and get excited and want to express how much of a fan you are, or you can be a proffessional doing your job who happens to be a fan as well. But you can't act proffessionally AND act like an obsessive fangirl at the same time.

Being nice and appreciative to fans for afew minutes on the streets is one thing. Having one tag along for an ENITRE museum tour? Being afraid that she might forget herself and blather on the whole time? Think about it.

... i don't have an issue with Chris not wanting to talk with the fan but i have an enourmous issue with the way he did it.

First off, I'll never say expression of differing views is whining, I don't mean that. I've heard/read alot of unfair complaints and blaming the band for things they can't always control. I've heard/read it both on and off this forum, and if it were all directed at me, like it's directed at Chris, I'd want to dissappear. I wasn't criticizing anyone.

I don't empathize with Chris because he's a millions-worth rock star. I empathize with him because I'm a musician...a pennies-worth unknown, lol. I know how it feels to give everyghing I have at a gig and then have ppl be annoyed because I want to just go home and not do alot of encores or take my guitar to their party after the show. I have that happen maybe once every 2 weeks, and it tires me. So I can imagine what it must be like for the guys. I don't have to sign hundreds of autographs, do multiple interviews, meet with label execs, shoot additional fottage during the day, etc. I have friends in the industry, and believe me, being a rock star is VER hard work. Of course, if I was the fan at the museum I'd be very disappointed that meeting someone I admire caused me pain. Yes I feel for her. But if it was me, I would understand. I see both sides of the situation, that's all. I'm not siding with Chris over the people on this board. Both artist and fans need to be fair, be aware of each other's situation, and Chris usually manages to do that.

Angie's posts in the Chris pics thread address this very well. I hope you get a chance to read them.

Fair enough. I still think it was rude of them to put him on the spot like that.

I mean, here's a guy who has written all these great songs about messing up and being a bit socially awkward, and people get upset when he messes up and is a bit socially awkward?

It's not like they give you some magic pill that makes you perfect when you're suddenly a star. I still think it's amazing that he's grown up as much as he has. I wish I knew how to do that.

i'm not talking about him needing to be nice and perfect. far from that. this story has just dispontted me and that's it. nothing more.

i rest my case on this subject from now on cus i don't feel comfortable sharing my opinion.

that's it.

:nice:

Artists owe their fans everything they have...not everything they are.

That's my last word on the subject.:)

WHY are THEY getting crap for stuff that isn't their fault?

And as for the "Chilean fan" who got pissed off at Chris: I can't imagine Chris being rude to anyone, but everyone is allowed to have a bad moment/day every once in a while.

What a WATB that complainer is!
