Amy Winehouse: Beehive with attitude

Featured Replies

The Mail, Sun, all the same tabloid crap really. :dozey:

I don't even know why i'm bothering to argue with you over it. All I was pointing out is that you so blatently LOVE IT, which is kind of sick, in my opinion.

Well in my opinion, it's "kind of sick" to obsess about the likes of junkie Pete and his gang and post endless photos of them in the first place, and furthermore, not be able to accept anybody criticising them.;)

I would love Amy (and even Pete) to clean up their acts and then stay clean for good - but it isn't likely to happen now, is it??

I don't obsess over Pete or his 'gang'

....I've always been more of a Carl girl :laugh4:

But whatever. I think he's an exteremly talented man and brilliant lyricist but i'm just as frustrated with his behaviour as anyone, and i've never condoned it.

And I can take people criticising him, I do it myself. Just not in this kind of sick, obsessive 'tabloid circus' way. Acting like you know every little thing about these people just because it's written in these crappy papers. When you don't. No one does.

Actually, both Pete's mum and Amy's dad have confirmed the reports in recent TV interviews, which I saw, so guess again!!;)

Plus of course, in Pete's case, there have been the various court appearances.;)

The subject of addiction was also discussed on The Wright Stuff today, and everyone agreed that only the addicts themselves can do anything about their dependencies, and the only way they can do that is by completely distancing themselves from their old lives and acquaintances.

Ohh ok! Their parents have spoken in the media about their kids problems so now we know every little thing about these people.

Alright then.

If you had seen the interviews, you would realise they both did it out of love and concern. They didn't actually go into any of the gory details.

However, you can even tell a lot from how "spaced out" either of them actually come across whenever they're on TV (e.g. Pete on "Jonathan Woss" and Amy on "Never Mind The Buzzcocks").;)

I know they didn't go into 'gory details', who said that?! :dozey:

I heard Amy's dad talking on the radio. It was really sad to listen to him saying that he prays for his daughter at his father's grave because he's that scared for her life --- in my opinion this is not something to revel in and enjoy, is it?

Tell what? That they're drug users? Well, congratulations Sherlock. I think you're on to something there!!

I'm bored now and I cant be bothered with this pointless debate anymore.

You mean like they appear to revel in raking in the cash from album sales and then blowing it all on various substances?? Well that's impressive behaviour, isn't it?

If their record companies had any scruples at all, they'd do them a favour and sack, or at least suspend them until they were clean.;)

After all, that's what happens to people in many other jobs nowadays.

Troubled Amy Winehouse still in the wars as she reveals her scarred and scabbed hands

Last updated at 16:25pm on 10th October 2007 commentIconSm.gif Comments (20)

A smartly dressed Amy Winehouse looked transformed as she ditched her tatty ballet pumps for a designer dress and heels on an evening out – but she couldn't do anything to makeover her scarred and scabbed hands.

The singer looked fabulous as she arrived at a restaurant launch wearing an orange and gold metallic shift dress, and an olive green trenchcoat.

But on closer inspection her hands were revealed to be red-raw, and scarred, with her thumb looking particularly scabbed.

Troubled Amy, who has in the past admitted to self-harming, was at Knightsbridge store Harvey Nichols for the launch of new restaurant The Row, the night after she was a no-show at the Q Awards.

She was reported to be ill, but she looked anything but as she arrived at the bash hosted by American celebrities Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and didn't leave until the early hours.

Amy arrived separately from husband Blake, but they left together later at around 2.30pm, with Amy changing into her uniform of white vest and jeans on the way home.

She clearly looked the worse for wear as she stumbled into her north London home, raising fears that she is still in the grip of her addictions.

Yesterday Amy beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers to win Best Album for Back To Black at the Q Awards – but unable to attend the ceremony, her producer pal Mark Ronson collected it in her absence.

But it was reported today, that the prestigious award turned up in a rather unlikely location.

The gong was left in the toilets at Bar Soho in London's Old Compton Street, where Mark Ronson, who earlier collected the award in her absence, was seen partying until 2am.

But it is possible Amy's Valerie duet partner was not entirely to blame - some reported last seeing the award in the hands of comedians Alan Carr and Ricky Gervais.

Bar Soho's Andrew Morris said: "I thought it wasn't real when I first saw it."

"But then I looked at the newspapers and saw the Q Awards were on last night and Amy Winehouse didn't collect her prize."

"In the state Amy's in these days I'm sure she doesn't care too much."

"But I'm sure the Q Awards organisers wouldn't be too happy it's been left in the bar.

And Winehouse beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers to win Best Album for Back To Black.

As he picked the award on her behalf, Ronson told the crowd: "That's Amy – taking her pain and turmoil and making it into the music we enjoy."

And as if to underline that point, Amy is reported to have recently got a new tattoo on her inner arm which reads "Never clip my wings."

It's deja vu: Amy Winehouse spends two days in the same clothes

Last updated at 11:54am on 15th October 2007 commentIconSm.gif Comments (2)

Amy Winehouse tends to be a creature of habit - and now it seems she's so attached to her clothes, she'll happily stay in the same outfit two days running.

The Rehab singer was seen out and about in Berlin on Saturday, wearing jeans and a white t-shirt, while clutching a takeaway from McDonalds.

Fast-forward 24 hours, and Amy was snapped in the evening wearing exactly the same outfit, accessorised with yet another bag of her favourite takeaway on her way back to her London hotel.

Maybe, the singer who has been battling an addiction to drugs and alcohol is trying to live a green lifestyle - by recycling her clothes?

Amy has also turned to yoga in an attempt to get her life back on track.

The troubled 24-year-old has taken up one-on-one tuition from David Sye, the Camden-based guru who has a string of famous clients, including Sadie Frost.

She was also spotted on a running machine before her gig in Berlin. Her yoga sessions and health kick are a positive step by Amy to beat her addiction to booze and drugs. And she couldn't have chosen a more rock'n'roll guru.

Sye, a former journalist - and the son of legendary crooner Frankie Vaughan - is covered in tattoos and wouldn't look out of place in an LA rock band. He practises his brand of yoga just a stone's throw from Amy's home in Camden.

A source said: "Amy has been having regular one-on-one sessions with David for five weeks now. It's a big step for Amy and one that could play a huge role in her eventually beating her demons.

"She pops into his studio for sessions but has also been calling him regularly on the phone for spiritual advice.

"Her health has improved over the last few weeks, and she has been looking a lot more glowing and healthy. She had started to worry about her health, so she's lucky to have found something that works for her right on her doorstep."

Amy's father Mitch has been outspoken over her daughter's health - revealing that he had written a speech for her funeral.

He said: "I wrote a eulogy for Amy myself last month. When she had her seizure and was taken to hospital, I really thought that could be it. The doctors told us even a whiff of another drug could kill her."

Amy is rumoured to be joining new pal Pete Doherty at his Wiltshire hideaway, which he's turning into a creative haven for him and pals.

Pete and Amy became friendly before he whisked himself off to rehab in August.

And according to The Sun, Amy and Blake turned up at his country pad last week to film him in action doing an Xfm interview — which will be aired tomorrow.

According to his rehab assessment, Pete needs to feel reassured all the time. Last week he said: "Apparently I've got loads of self-esteem issues."

Meanwhile Amy's outspokeness could ignite a couple of new feuds as she spouted off recently branding new mother Charlotte Church "an arrogant cow" and said Bono isn't much better.

When asked about her drunken appearance on last October's Charlotte Church Show and if she has a hard time controlling herself, she said: "Why should I? If something troubles me, I speak my mind.

"That's why they invite me.

She blasted: "Church is an arrogant cow. And Bono isn't much better. He thinks he's God."

Amy, who canceled a series of British concerts and put her North American tour on hold in August will perform at the 2007 mtvU Woodie Awards in New York next month.

It's Hallowe'en and Amy's husband looks like the living dead

Hallowe'en came earlier for Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who was spotted with the singer in Brussels last night looking frighteningly pale and gaunt.

Blake joined the troubled star in Brussels for the final leg of her European tour amid claims the pair have been feuding constantly.

Last week, the Rehab singer was a seen looking scared and on the verge of tears as she walked around the streets of Munich on her own.

According to pals, the 24-year-old star is struggling to cope with the increasingly stormy rows with husband Blake. And they warn his controlling behaviour, and unreasonable demands are threatening the couple's six-month marriage.

A source told Closer magazine: "They are constantly arguing backstage, and whenever he gets bored he demands they leave, no matter what she's doing.

"At one of her gigs, Blake even insisted they go back to the hotel half an hour before she was due on stage."

2AmyWineCryFAM_468x519.jpgDrama: The singer is fueding constantly with her husband, according to sources

Despite Amy's teams pleas, the young singer won't stand up to her husband, who she credits with saving her life, after he got her to hospital following her overdose.

The source added: "Amy's team has told her they can't run a tour under these circumstances. But she runs straight to Blake, who goes mental and threatens to fly back to the UK.

"Then she goes back to her team and tells them, she can't do it without him around."

Meanwhile Amy's career as an international star hung in the balance amid claims she is to be banned from the U.S, it was revealed.

American authorities will not grant her a visa to enter the country to complete a promotional tour following a recent drugs bust in Norway, her father claimed this week.

2AmyWineAP_468x697.jpgBanned in the USA: Amy's father Mitch said her recent drugs bust has scuppered her US tour as authorities will not grant her a visa

But Mitch Winehouse went on to blame Norwegian authorities for misleading his 24-year-old daughter into signing a confession document in relation to the incident on her European tour last week.

Mitch, a taxi driver, said Amy thought the document, which was written in Norwegian, had actually been a release form.

Mr Winehouse said the situation was now being thrashed out between the British Consulate and Norwegian authorities in the hope that Amy would avoid a US ban.

Mr Winehouse, who insists the drugs did not belong to his daughter, said: "It didn't belong to her, it belonged to someone else on the tour. They arrested Blake, Amy and the person who was responsible.

"They only released them after they signed a form, which they were told was a release form. It was in Norwegian. It was actually a confession, so this is being dealt with now by the Norwegian authorities and the British Consulate because the ramifications of that are that she now can't get into the States and she was meant to go next week."

Being denied a visa could stall Winehouse's assault on the U.S. where she has already climbed the top ten singles chart and earned rave reviews.

Fellow Brit singer Lily Allen has also recently fallen foul of U.S. immigration.

Her visa was cancelled in August after LA immigration officials questioned her over an assault on a photographer in March.

She was forced to cancel a planned September concert in Las Vegas.

Winehouse was arrested in Norway earlier this month for possession of marijuana while on her European tour.

She and husband, along with friend Alexander Foden, spent the night in a police cell and were released after paying a fine.

Mr Winehouse, a cab driver, also claimed - in the interview on This Morning - that his daughter did not touch hard drugs until she married Blake Fielder-Civil, who works as a film production runner.

He said: "She was a complete opponent of hard drugs - in fact, she got up and said she couldn't understand why people in the music industry took hard drugs and that changed about six months ago when she got married to Blake.

"And I'm not saying it's Blake's fault, what I'm saying is Amy's responsible for her own actions.

"However, it's a fact that the hard drugs coincided with their marriage."

Winehouse was rushed to hospital in August this year after overdosing on heroin, ketamine, cocaine and ecstasy.

Her father confirmed that she was treated for a seizure triggered as a result of taking drugs.

Weeks later husband and wife were pictured in the street looking bloodied and bruised after an argument.

Mr Winehouse said his daughter, who has admitted blacking out during drinking binges, has cut her alcohol consumption in the past year but is still battling bulimia and drug addiction.

"She's not drinking as heavily as she was then actually, but there are other problems.

"The other problem is the bulimia which is still apparent, although she's put on about a stone in weight, but it's still affecting her health. And there are problems with substance abuse as well. But it's not as bad as has been reported."

Amy Winehouse's panic-stricken parents call ambulance to her house after fears she could 'do something silly'

Amy Winehouse's panic stricken parents dialled 999 last night after they lost contact with their daughter.

The worried parents alerted police and ambulance crews because they are alarmed about her mental state after husband Blake Fielder-Civil was sent to jail.

The couple directed the emergency services to the East London flat where she's been staying since Blake was sent to Pentonville Prison last week.

An ambulance arrived at 7.30pm but couldn't find the troubled singer. She arrived home unharmed just after police arrived at 9pm.

A source said: “Amy's family are petrified she'll do something stupid. They know she's very low at the moment and misses Blake terribly. They were trying to reach her on the phone yesterday evening and they were also trying the flat in Hackney where she's been staying but they couldn't get in touch with her.

The Rehab singer was in tears yesterday when she wasn't allowed to visit her husband, who's in jail after being accused of GBH and attempting to pervert the course of justice. Blake's mother Georgette took yesterday's only permitted visit pass.

Sources say Amy hadn't even put her name down the mandatory 24 hours in advance to visit Blake.

A friend said: "She is planning to stand by him, whatever the outcome of the case.

"Her friends though are trying to pull her the other way now she is no longer under his influence.

"Her father Mitch is keeping an eye on her as she is so vulnerable at the moment and is known for self-harming so there are concerns for her wellbeing. Her friends and family are worried she might do herself some harm."

The Brit award-winner was tonight set to kick off the first date in a month-long UK tour, starting in Birmingham.

She was planning to dedicate a poignant version of Wake Up Alone to her junkie husband.

A family source said: "She is going ahead with the tour to show Blake how much she loves him and is dedicating the whole tour to him.

Music video assistant Fielder-Civil, 25, spent his first two nights behind bars being watched round the clock but was yesterday back in a normal cell.

A family friend said he could not stop crying, however, as he pined for his wife and their home in Camden, north London, which was raided by police last week.

singing200907G_468x707.jpgTalent: At her best, Winehouse is recognised as an extraordinary talent

Miss Winehouse, who is paying her husband's legal fees, has optimistically bought them both an all-expenses paid trip to India as a Christmas present in the hope he will be released and cleared of all charges in time.

But she is not expected to visit him again for a while as she is due to perform in Glasgow and Newcastle after the Birmingham gig.

The prosecution of her husband is the latest crisis in Miss Winehouse's turbulent personal life.

Earlier this year she collapsed after taking a drugs overdose and was treated in rehab for a heroin addiction.

She was thought to be getting her life back on track with new tour dates but has triggered increasing concern over the past few weeks with her erratic behaviour.

She fell asleep three times during an interview with US magazine Blender last month, then slurred and stumbled her way through a performance at the MTV video music awards in Germany earlier this month.

While she insisted to Blender reporter Jody Rosen that she did not 'have time' to do drugs anymore, the writer said: "She looked especially worse for wear - hunched, heavy-lidded and just frail. Her words were slurred and her eyelids drooping."

Booing fans walk out of Amy's disastrous stage show

WineWennES1511_228x497.jpgLast night: Fans booed Amy Winehouse's shambolic performance

enlarge.gif

Amy Winehouse was booed and jeered by hundreds of fans after ranting on stage about her husband in jail.

The singer stumbled into the venue half an hour late, slurred her words, walked into a guitar stand and dropped her microphone at the opening date of her British tour.

She then dedicated a song to her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, drawing more boos and a mass walkout at the NIA in Birmingham.

The band had to support Winehouse as she almost collapsed in tears.

The star appeared to have gone into meltdown after visiting Fielder-Civil, who is charged with grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, at Pentonville prison in London.

Video: Watch Amy Winehouse's disastrous stage performance here

Following jeers from the crowd, she ranted: “Let me tell you something. First of all, if you're booing you're a mug for buying a ticket.

“Second, to all those booing, just wait 'til my husband gets out of incarceration. And I mean that.”

Dressed in a tight black miniskirt and with her see-through top showing off her bra, Winehouse, 24, changed the words of her songs to refer to Fielder-Civil.

AmyBhamBARCROFT2_228x777.jpgPanned: critics and fans were left bitterly disappointed

During the song Back To Black, she added the word “Blakey” and at the end of the song she slurred: “ Nothing's going to bring my husband back.”

Before singing Wake Up, she said: “This is for my husband.”

The shambolic performance, in which she crashed about the stage, ended with the song Valerie. Before she got to the end, Winehouse stopped singing, dropped the microphone and walked off stage.

One fan, James Dyas, who spent £175 on seven tickets for the first of the 17-date tour, demanded his money back.

He said: “She came on stage half an hour late. She managed four songs but was slurring her words and swaying all over the place.

“She fell into the guitar stand and dropped the microphone - it was atrocious. The song dedicated to her husband was so bad it was like swinging a cat round your head.”

Reviews by critics ranged from scathing to sympathetic, with The Telegraph noting: "Valerie is a slurred blur and she wrecks Sam Cooke's Cupid by yelling off key."

Helen Brown, who praised the singer's "real emotional honesty," concluded: "When it comes to frankness, and unpredictable emotional whack, I doubt Winehouse knows how to disappoint."

The Times described the show as "sloppy," but added: "Clearly the troubled chanteuse has other things on her mind."

Amy's spokesperson said: "It's been a really emotional time for Amy but she was determined to do the gig.

"She broke down on stage a couple of times with real tears. That real emotion is why people love her, but it's just really heightened at the moment."

Winehouse only agreed to go on stage after seeing Fielder-Civil, who is on remand.

She was ushered through the back door of the jail and a warden made her run her fingers through her hair and undo her trademark beehive to prove she was not hiding anything.

She was turned away from the prison in tears earlier this week after Fielder-Civil's mother had already taken the visitor slot.

Winehouse wept last week when Fielder-Civil was arrested by police and led away in handcuffs. The couple married in May.

The arrest came after a difficult few months for the singer who has received critical acclaim for her album Back To Black. She next plays two nights in Glasgow.

although i think people must be a bit crazy to admire those things of that people, i could recognize that they could be good singers and stuff but, accept this behaviour.. i find sad that artist must take things to be creative. :(

I couldn't agree more. What a waste.:(

:laugh3: noooooooooo, i'm not a scientologist! i HATE and scorn them. but i informed myself well about the idea of scientology before i judged them as insanes. plus i am not in a religious group or something. heaven forbid!

i am a woman standing with both of my feet on the ground that we call world plus i love music and anything concerning arts. and i was always observing people and studying life. plus i am good in maths :D;) which means: bad education + no love = weird adult people.

i'm pretty normal but i want to know WHY something is good or bad instead of just judging it. i try not to judge too much - neither myself nor others. this is hard enough in a world where people strew around their opinions without looking behind the curtains.

don't know wether amy has kids or not, what i've been talking about was her very own childhood which must have been pretty hard for her (and her parents). and this amy we have now is the logical result of it - at least to me.

sorry when i was too directly but i had to say what i can see. couldn't restrain it.

i just love amys talent and i am sad about how hard she struggles with her life.

wish i could talk to her about life itself...

that's it. :\

winehouse2BIG1611_228x559.jpgTroubled: Amy picks up a laptop from her home late last night

Troubled Amy Winehouse has been dealt another blow today after her tour manager quit amid drugs accusations.

Thom Stone walked out on the singer just a day after she had a meltdown during a gig in Birmingham, swearing at fans and falling over on stage.

Mr Stone confirmed he had quit after it was said that he found working with Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil who is currently behind bars, was harming his health.

The last straw was when Amy, 24, and Blake were arrested with cannabis in Norway last month.

The Sun reported today that doctors found heroin in Mr Stone's system after he inhaled it passively on Amy's tour bus.

The tour manager is said to have produced a doctor's note which revealed traces of the class A drug in his blood.

“He insisted to the management team that the only way that could have happened would have been through inhaling it from Blake and Amy. Thom just had it up to here. It was a nightmare job,” the paper reported.

Amy is due to play a gig in Glasgow tonight, but the tour is in doubt after her disastrous performance on Wednesday in Birmingham.

The singer is not happy being away from London because she wants to be close to Fielder-Civil, who is in Pentonville Prison on charges of GBH and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

winehousXPOSURE1611_468x510.jpgSupport: Amy's brother Alex Winehouse and music impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber have both come out in defence of the star

A sixth man, Michael Brown, 25, of Holloway, north London, will appear in court today charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in connection with a court case involving singer Winehouse's husband.

Her record label insists the gigs will go ahead.

Meanwhile, her older brother Alex defended his sister today, saying she is more in control of her life than people give her credit for.

The actor told GMTV that despite her disastrous gig in Birmingham on Wednesday, Amy is doing well.

He said: “I spoke to her last night. She told me to give her cats a kiss. She sounded fine, definitely.”

Alex also admitted that he has tried to get Amy on the straight and narrow in the past, but claimed she won't listen.

He said: “When I've tried to say 'What are you doing?' it just ends up in an argument.”

But he says that despite her well-documented drug problems, he believes that the singer will sort herself out.

“I know that she has a voice in her head saying 'Calm down',” he claimed.

Alex added: “She wanted me to say that she loves Blake, because he's watching.”

Music impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber has also spoken out in defence of the star.

He was part of the 8,500 strong audience in Birmingham on Wednesday night, and has praised the star's "Ella Fitzgerald quality," adding she "showed flashes of genius."

He says: "I thought there were moments when she was absolutely magnificent."

WinehouseWENN1611_468x597.jpgNew blow: Amy Winehouse's tour manager has quit just a day after her on stage meltdown

He explained: "I didn't notice her doing anything peculiar. I thought her voice was toned and she was handling material you would not expect a girl of her age to cope with.

"It was strange what happened. Suddenly, way into the show, the audience suddenly turned on her and she wasn't equipped to handle it.

"I was with Sir David Frost and he has seen it all. Neither of us could work out why the crowd turned on her – it just happened in one moment."

Lord Lloyd Webber says her reaction only made matters worse: "She made the mistake of haranguing the audience instead of letting it go."

He told The Sun: "She is a big star and the awful thing about it is she's going to be crushed like a butterfly and it's not right.

"That girl needs to be nurtured and helped through all of these problems because she is a major, major talent."

Lord Lloyd Webber believes the Birmingham NIA was too large and overwhelming for the star, suggesting that "8,500 people may be too much for a person of her type."

Her personal turmoil adds to her appeal, according to the 59-year-old.

He says: "I'd say there's an Edith Piaf quality to her which is very rare. She lives those lyrics."
