March 23, 200719 yr Obviously I'm not European, but Canadians like to think of themselves as more sophisticated than the 'average' American. THat's not to say we hate them or think we're better. But alot of us think our world view is more progressive. I know better because I've met alot of very intelligent Yankees, who articulate themselfves well, and know thier politics. I've also met a few that really do bring their snowshoes here in the summertime, lol. I think it gets pretty hot in Canada in the summer:thinking:..:laugh4:
March 23, 200719 yr I think it gets pretty hot in Canada in the summer:thinking:..:laugh4: Unless you keep driving north...really north, lol.
March 23, 200719 yr The farthest in Canada I have been is like Chatham... And it was hot there, hahaha.:laugh4: I know nothing.:shy:
March 23, 200719 yr Americans it's not the same as USA's people I mean.. america is a biiiiig continent you know
March 23, 200719 yr Well, there's a good example, Lore. Canadians don't like it referred to as america.
March 23, 200719 yr I don't like when people call them americans because.. I'm american, you're american.. USA it's not a continent
March 23, 200719 yr I don't like when people call them americans because.. I'm american, you're american.. USA it's not a continent Exactly.:)
March 23, 200719 yr isnt the contient the americas? because when people talk about america they usually refer to the united states.
March 23, 200719 yr THere is the continent of North America, and the country which is the United States of America. I'm North America, but not American. I like to tell my English friends that I'm just as American as they are European. That usually clears things up,lol. It's amazing how we confue ourselves with words. :laugh3:
March 23, 200719 yr i'm not european and i dont hate americans (usa). you cannot compare a british/egyptian/chinese/turkish/etc. with a person in the us. on one side we have thousands of year-old nations and on the other side a "new" karma generation.. their ancestors are some guys loving adventure or some losers in europe, after all.. usa needs more "history", some cultural background..
March 23, 200719 yr mhh... let's say that the usa is a huge country, which means there's so many different people. and yeah, i might dislike a few of them. it's just the image you get from the usa. that stereotype thing again, i suppose. all the kids are spoiled, have cars at the age of 16 and us americans do not know ANYTHING about geography or history. and yeah, EVERYONE in the usa thinks that europe is a country. it's not..:"oh, you're from sweden and you're from ireland." it's all european. plus, i bet some us americans have never heard of bulgaria or cyprus.
March 23, 200719 yr i have and i know that Europe isnt a country. In Fact. Everyone i know does. its definetly a stereo type thing. We're not all rich, spoiled, and we dont all have cars. We might not have a hard live but does that make us bad. And our goverment is messed up too. i cant wait for a new president.
March 23, 200719 yr THat's a big part of the problem. People outside the US see a redneck in charge, and it adds to the stereotype that all AMericans are rednecks. THey're definitely not.
March 23, 200719 yr Author my sister spent like 6 months studying in spain a couple years ago, and i asked her what they thought of us, and she said that most people think that we are inorant and that we think we are better than everyone else. a lot of americans do. i don't. i understand how ignorant a lot of the people in our country are. Also, for the person who said that he he/she hates bush, your not alone. The only good thing hes done in my opinion is how good hes been with israel (i'm jewish so i care about that) and loretin, i'm sorry you were bothered by me calling them americans but the fact that America is in the name of our country makes me think they could be called that. but you are right, you are part of america too
March 23, 200719 yr well, that arrogant thing appears because you guys were complaining about the gas prices. please, you have no clue how high they are here in europe and nobody listens to us complaining. but when the gas prices in the usa increase it's a problem the whole world has to deal with...
March 23, 200719 yr Author your right. it shouldn't be a problem for the whole world, thats our issue not yours , but you can't blame people for complaininig
March 23, 200719 yr i dont think your arrogant when you complain, i dont think that about anybody when they complain
March 24, 200719 yr mhh... let's say that the usa is a huge country, which means there's so many different people. and yeah, i might dislike a few of them. it's just the image you get from the usa. that stereotype thing again, i suppose. all the kids are spoiled, have cars at the age of 16 and us americans do not know ANYTHING about geography or history. and yeah, EVERYONE in the usa thinks that europe is a country. it's not..:"oh, you're from sweden and you're from ireland." it's all european. plus, i bet some us americans have never heard of bulgaria or cyprus. yup...this is exactly the idea that comes to mind when i think of people in the us...but of course i know it's a stereotype... i don't think europeans hate americans (from usa), i think we have that stereotype from tv shows like dr phill or something! and i don't know exactly the name of the mtv show but i guess it's called "sweet sixteen" or something like that, this show definitly gave me some of these ideas!! but at the end of the day i guess europeans just hate what bush has done and not exactly the people....and it's hard to talk about what europeans think...there are so many different countries in europe and thus so many different opinions, so maybe what i think about this subject is only related to what i see here in portugal
