how do they sound live??

Featured Replies

I have a thought...

I have seen coldplay live twice now, in the AROBTTH tour in 03 and in the twisted logic tour this year and here's what i think: i think the AROBTTH album is so well produced and performed that the songs don't sound so good when played live (except for daylight) but on the other hand i think the X&Y and parachutes songs improve when played live (for example fix you and talk or trouble and sparks).

What do you guys think???

I actually prefer to listen to the live versions of pretty much all their songs (Especially 'Politik' and 'God Put a Smile'). I think it has something to do with the level of intensity that doesn't really come out on the album. I don't see how the production level can effect a live performace, because Sigur Rós is heavily produced on the album, but are about 472897348129 times better live anyway, despite the fact.

I don't know though... I kind of prefer to listen to really good live recordings over the album anyway. I think I'm weird like that.

In fact... I much prefer the album Parachutes than live. The only song that really really does it for me live is 'Spies'.

Of course, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love to hear 'Sparks' or more Parachutes songs live, it's just a trend I've seen with my listening habits.

Honestly, now that I'm thinking about it, I was singing along at the top of my lungs, cheering and yelling in between the song, laughing at Chris' antics and I was just plain so giddy at being there that I don't think I really noticed how they sounded. So I would have to say not bad at all.

Now as far as live recordings go, I think they usually sound great, and I always like hearing the new spin that gets put on a song live. I wouldn't say better or worse, just different and interesting.

i personally like them much better on album. thats how i am with almost every artist. i just think that the songs are how theyre meant to sound on the album down to the last note and sound, whereas on live versions there are differences that arent necessarily desireable. i dont think theyre bad or anything, but i just much rather listen to the albums. better sound quality, anyway.

I think CP are great live! Well... at least compared to My Chemical Romance... I went to go see MCR a few days ago and I gotta say they sound waaaaayyyy better on the cd, imo. Maybe it was their equipment IDK... Though, they put on one HELL OF A SHOW, but CP are really good on both cd and live.

I can't say one is better or worse, but every time I think of Those Guitars from the songs on Parachutes ringing out above the crowd, I get chills! I love all their songs live, but I think the ones from Parachutes are my favorite.

That intro on Spies...so gorgeous!!

all the songs i especially like what if and a message live versions!

spies and sparks sound live good too.

and daylight's superb!

Daylight live is outstanding than album version!

I think they sound great live, whatever song they are singing. I like God Put a Smile on Your Face the best, though.

Oh live is so freaking awesome, it sounds the same but with more energy, you really feel it. Some have arrangements that are great like the end of clocks on this tour, how chris sings with the crowd on the scientist...
