Eurovision Song Contest

Well let`s not get political but the statement that East Europe is united or the countries "have been one in the past" is not true. Most of the countries were under Socialst influence but the differencies are vast! Only on the Balkans there were 5 different wars from 1900-1945.... though most of the ppl are slavic they don`t love eachother that much.

Well, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine were parts of the former Soviet Union, so they all had something in common. Later on these countries became independent, got their own new languages etc., but besides that they still give votes to their neighbour countries due to fact that they have the same past. It's the same on the Balkan or with Greece and Cyprus and that's the point which annoys me the most! It really seems to be a political than a musical decision.

I don't think that East European countries have better participants.

Hopefully German TV channel ARD, British, French and Spanish television will notice soon that they have to stop supporting this embarassing competition with money as long as there isn't a new solution to stop political voting.

To be honest....I think Bulgaria's song is the same like Ruslana....

no wonder...The music has common origin. It is the same in all Eastern Slav Countries(at least to me). It's kinda annoying

in eurovision the songs usually are either pop or things like that

wow eurovision is soo ridiculous...i like to watch it and to laugh at the participants!:sneaky:

so you noticed that the whole Balkan peninsula went to Eurovision this year?what a coincidence...

Don't all the countries always go to the Eurovision? Did Bosnia go? I can't remember seeing BIH there. But Serbia has a great song. I love the singer's voice, she's amazing!

But I must say that I'm a bit disappointed because of the songs that made it to the finals. I wrote 9 songs that I liked and only three made it (not including my country's song). Apparently I have a bad taste or people can't vote.

2.) Everyone hates Germany

sad, but true.

although i love watching it, you're right Lars.

"the big four" should definitely stop supporting that contest and soon it will not even take place. hahaha. it's just the fact that we're paying shotloads for that crap and never get any points.

remember when spain got a total of 0 (!!!) points a few years ago.

though most of the ppl are slavic they don`t love eachother that much.

hm, from what i've seen and understood through Eurovision, it's like this - Balkan countries give points to each other, but other countries do the same thing. So Slavic countries are not the only ones. :)

It will be the same if I say that Austria and Switzerland are voting for Germany.

FIRST: CYPRUS IS NOT ON THE BALKANS!!! LOOK AT THE MAP, EUROPE IS NOT JUST FEW WEST EUROPEAN COUNTRIES!!!! Second: Cyprus is 650 000 ppl man you think that`s the turning point??!!

I don't think that East European countries have better participants.

Well that`s the fact. You have to accept it and accept the thought that East Europe is better than West in some points...

It really seems to be a political than a musical decision.

Let me not get started the times Eastern countries were f.... cause of the political power of the West... just don`t let me get started, cause it`s going to be one loooooooooooooooooooooooong statement.

It will be the same if I say that Austria and Switzerland are voting for Germany.

No it's not the same thing, because Switzerland for example never was part of Germany! They don't have the same past and Switzerland always was a neutral independent state.

Where do I say that Cyprus would be part of the Balkan? I only wrote "It's the same on the Balkan or with Greece and Cyprus and that's the point which annoys me the most!" I didn't write that Cyprus belongs to the Balkan so read before accuse... There is also no need to use capital letters, my eyes are very good, thanks! And you can trust me... I definitely don't need geography lessons!!!

Sure I have to accept it, but East European countries mostly have the same trashy bands as the Western countries. I don't think that they're better! That's my opinion! You have to accept it, if not than I'm sorry for you.

I never said anything against East European countries, so don't get me wrong. The main point which annoys me the most is simply the fact that the whole competition seems to be rather a political than a musical decision made by these countries. That's all!

How many bands have you listened to? I`m sure that as an expert you are quite familiar with east european music so you can explain to me some facts if you are kind enough....

You are right, I missread your post and I`m sorry, may be you don`t need a geography lesson. The reason why I wrote it with capital letters is because 9 out of 10 germans and westerners don`t have any idea about where the eastern countries are not to mension that they don`t give a .......... Anyway it has nothing to do with you and I am sorry.

Poland, Hungary and others were all part of Germany at some point.

If it was the Eurovision only... OK, Eurovison may be is a matter of political choise (I don`t believe it) but all the other occasions that are matter of politic let me tell you who is the loser there- the east. This is the only place the east has a dominance and you all guys start complaining about it....

My post was only in refer to the "bands" who take part at the Eurovision. I don't want to say that every East European band is shit. Unfortunately I'm not an expert of their music, but there are probably a lot of bands in East Europe who are much better than the "bands" of the Eurovision.

Ok, thanks for apologize. You're right, probably the majority of people don't know about all countries in the whole European Union. At school I often have to learn them though, especially in 2004 when the EU got 10 new countries.

Yes, my post was only based to the Eurovision, not to the real policy.

Eurovision is (excuse my expression) crap in my opinion.

The only good songs there are from Germany and Serbia.

Everybody else...disgraceful.

Actually I liked the Irish and French contributions pretty much :)

Those French guys are repulsive with their hideous costumes

Nothing personal :shy:

well - i liked their music... and i think, that's what counts! :nice:

But I guess, with my opinion I'm very lonely here in Europe.... Ireland last place? come on....

hahahahhaha.

UK actually got points.

:(

i wanted 0. our act is awful.

can u imagine Coldplay taking part in the eurovision??!! :laugh3:

hm, from what i've seen and understood through Eurovision, it's like this - Balkan countries give points to each other, but other countries do the same thing. So Slavic countries are not the only ones. :)

ya I agree, BUT the english OUR NEIGHBOURS gave us 0!! :furious: :furious2:

oh bgod, but what did we expect?

i don't wanna insult anybody, but seriously... those countries that actually represent europe didn't even make it to the top 10 (well, except for greece).

we all landed on the right handside of the list. hahaha.

okay, the uk entry was shite to be honest, but ireland deserved much more than the last place!

my favourites would have to be ukraine and france. hahaha.

[i actually thought we'd have some good chances, but people obviously don't judge the music]

ukraine was weird, but they sang a bit in german. hahaha. was funny and all... and france was nice, too. i really liked the whole idea behind it.

but tell me what those russian (I'm sorry for the following...) whores were about. c'mon... after having sent tatu i've expected a little more.

sweden was great, too, as well as finland!

but there were many important countries missing...

portugal, iceland, austria, norway, ...

the "real" european countries should think about participating twice. really, what is it good for? we always lose and spend so much money on that crap. it's not worth it at all. we should stop participating and let them eastern countries pay for it.

i even wonder if they've got a venue in serbia next year... like... where?!

what i liked about the show was the great audience :nice: oh and those short films were quite cute and so much better than the ones in the past years :) that was great. go finland

Haha Russian whores

They're actually not that bad, I've no idea why would they choose such an awful song and act like cunts. But hey-ho, Tatu weren't any better, were they

I've only seen a few performances, and I liked the German guy, he was the best of the worst I'd say

Ukraine.... no words lmao.

Oh, and I noticed something. Eurovision LOVES gays, lesbians and transvestites (does that word even exist?..). No offense, but the winners and the whole top-three usually have something unusual with their sexual orientation.

So, that was laughable. I think people who don't watch Eurovision really miss a lot, because it's so fucking ridiculous, and laughing is good for our health

Haha.

definitely.....I said to my parents "It's gay Eurovision time!" hehehe why not?

those countries that actually represent europe

the "real" european countries

everyobody hates germany

Think about those 3 please

i didn't like any of the songs, winner song especialy...
