Yep, the album Fragile often gets listen.

I heard a song 'Schooldays' by a band called 'Gentle Giant' from 1972. My broher sent it to me because it really sounded like Field Music (modern band from North-East england).

I could tell what he meant as soon as the vocals started.

Pink Floyd!!! best band ever!

Ditto ! I quite like contemporary bands one could consider progrock, I guess. Three of them are Archive, The Mars Volta and Porcupine Tree.

I really love those ones, not very famous actually. but is it prog-rock actually ?

  • Author

porcupine tree is supposed to be but i don't really like them

the mars volta is prog but 30 years too late

i don't know archive

I really like Porcupine Tree. Going to see them live this month.

porcupine tree is awesome! but i have to say my favorite prog band of all time is GENESIS!! can't wait to see them in september! opeth is another great prog-metal band. marillion is good. does tool count as a prog-rock band? blackfield, elp, dream theater, etc i could go on and on.

blackfield

Blackfield is great too, love their albums.

oh well those are good albums, you should check out other albums like "wind and wuthering", "duke", and "genesis". you should also definitly get "Seconds out" and "Three sides live"... two excellent live albums.

this is true, and i will do it im just really busy today so i can't do it but i'll get around to it soon, probably tomorrow!

Random fact of the day, if you buy this month's Uncut magazine you get a free CD full of Prog-Rock.

^Thanks for sharing those. That's more Genesis, right? I've been meaning to give them a serious listen. Just as a word of caution: we're not supposed to post direct download links in the WoM, so next time you should either PM them, or post them in Multimedia. :)
