this is the EXACT sort of thing i was hoping them to write to us (well, short of a release date, but this makes it much more official, like they're PROMISING to get it to us in the expected timeframe). i was always kinda worried that we just would keep on not hearing from them, or not hearing anything definitive, for months and months and it would get to be may/june and we still would have nothing. but now it's like they told us a TIMEFRAME, pretty much, and i'm SO thrilled. it's like they addressed our specific concerns in this letter, namely concerning the release (because they havent said really anything on that subject in ages) and the album title (HAH, debs doesnt lie!). i just love how they really seem to be paying attention to US. i've always loved that about them.

and i feel more than ever that they read what goes on here. well, maybe not THEM themselves (chris, jonny, will, guy), but i think they have people that read these threads on coldplaying and kind of let them know what we're all saying. i love that thought.

 

i think they'll be done by the end of february and the thing will be in its physical production phase in mid-march to april, meaning a may/june release.

If I need to wait another three years after this album, I'm gonna need a few more songs than 9 (you heard me boys, more than 9 songs). All this hype about Coldplay's album! 2008's gonna be a huge year (I went to my first concert this year!) ya know with Coldplay's album, Mika touring (well, at least I'm happy about that), Muse working on their album, going to as many music festivals as my school work allows...and Evermore's new album (you probably don't know who they are)

 

Ok, by now the hype has set in...OMG! ONLY ONE MONTH and they're DONE! Whcih only leaves publishing and selling! Has anyone thought of they album artwork theme, I think it'll have something to do with Prospekt!

I really really want to belive it's Phil, but the entries are sounding more like Eno now...

i still dont know, though...didnt prospekt say that he wasnt a musician?? to me that leaves phil.

There's still a wait...like others have said. It's not coming out in a month. There's a single out usually for a few weeks first. And there's the 'buzz tour' where they talk to the press and play selected shows. I don't know if they've done that for evey album, but they did for X&Y. I agree with everyone who saad May...but the good news is that probably gives us a single in mid-March or April.

 

What I'm saying *gasp* is that we'll possibly hear new notes from Coldplay in under 2 months!!!!! I really hope I'm right about this!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Hmmmm. X&Y came out in June and I'm sure I remember hearing Speed Of Sound right at the beginning of May. I guess we can google the actual release date, but on average it's 4-6 weeks before the album, so yeah. It could be that soon. Let's hope.:)

oh, i'm going to DIE when they announce it. i stifiled my scream of joy today because it wasnt exactly what i have been waiting for (though really damn close :) ), but once they give us the date, i really hope theres no one in the dorm because i'm going to be unable to supress my glee and everyones going to think i'm crazy. but it'll be worth it.

 

i think may/june is likely, as i said. but i TOTALLY forgot about singles!! speed of sound came out in april, right, and X&Y itself in june? i hope theyre on the same sort of timeframe this time around! because the single will wet the appetite, and it wont be too long of a wait!

I think alot of ppl forgot the single,lol. I spend a lot of time discussing the music industry and learning how it works, so the single's been on my mind for a while now...just didn't think to post it because we were all freaking about EMI, so noone knew if there would even BE a single. Now that there's a new entry, we can relax that the album is till on track.:)

I think Prospekt is definately Phil. Isn't he an old school friend of Chris'? Chris went to school and was born in Devon so it would make sense.

Singles almost always come out two weeks before the album. They might release a download only song which isn't going to be on the album (they did say they were going to release two songs independently after all) when they've finished the record.

I don't know if they'd go through the same press and promo schedule that they went through with X&Y. The music industry is changing, EMI are kind of falling apart, so I think CP are more free to do what they want to do now (like releasing new material as soon as it's finished).

2 weeks? Where are you located? It's always more than that here. (Welcome to the forum by the way...you must be a Doves fan with that username!)

 

And you may be right about the change in the industry meaning a change in their proceedure, but the 'buzz tour' is pretty standard issue before most major releases...I think X&Y was only a couple of weeks, not sure.

 

It's like this on my favorite X-Files forum right now too. We're all specualting about every aspect of the movie and it's not even out til July,lol. At least all the speculation will give us something to do til we do have a single/album.:)

2008 is going to ROCK for music (quite literally). my mom sent me the Q magazine with chris (and bono and oasis on the cover) today, and it reminded me of all the amazing stuff coming out this year in addition to coldplay: U2, oasis, the verve, the killers, franz ferdinand, keane...so many more. i think 2008 is going to remind me of 2005 (because that was a great music year for my tastes as well). 2007 was pretty crappy until october 10!
