Has anyone ever hitch-hiked???

Featured Replies

no, never have, and i probably never will... i think the idea is rather scary, maybe it's because i don't trust people i don't know at all straight away

my ex used to do it all the time though... i hated that.

I have. It was awesome, awesome, awesome. It was one of the best things that have ever happened to me. Of course, I didn't do it alone, it's not safe. Besides, travelling without company is weird, boring and stupid. Wha.

i havent,have you?

Are you familiar with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy??

I have once. It was many years ago.

I missed my bus and some guy saw that I missed it so he offered me a ride to the next bus stop. Not really hitch hiking but I did get in a strangers car...:uhoh2:

:o:o:o

yes, i've done it a few times. its not a good idea though.

Where did you do it? In Liverpool?:P

You people talk about it like if all people were maniacs and sex fiends.

I mean, you don' have to travel by yourself, it's obvious that you should do it with a few friends of yours. I travelled with two friends, both guys, and though they're faaar from what you could call a muscle-type (lol), I felt quite safe.

I mean, there were three of us and the driver is always alone. Even if he attacked us I doubt we wouldn't be able to stand up for ourselves.

You can't be that weak, can you? I mean, maniac can attack you tonight on the street or in two days in the shop, you never know. But it doesn't mean you'll never leave you appartment any more, right?

yeah i've done it a few times when i was younger because there was no way i could get back to my village after i've missed the last bus. nothing really happened. i got quite worried once though when the driver didnt take the direct way. of course you can get attacked anytime, but certain things are just more dangerous than others.

well it's not that ALL are sex fiends/maniacs. But this is how it goes...

There are two types of people who you might pick up hitch-hiking...

You either get a person that is just good natured and just wants to get home safe.....

OR ...worse case scenario:

You end up with the person who you pick up with very bad intentions to hurt you.

Who wants to take that chance?

I live in Houston and that is but an hour from Huntsville, TX. That is where the state penitentiary and the death chamber is in Texas.

Every once in a while, Texans are given an announcement via any media to beware of hitch-hikers because there was an escapee from Huntsville.

I'll be damned if I ever happen to be the person who happens to picks up a prison escapee.

I did give a ride once, but it was a young girl who needed to get to school. Harmless.

There are some loonies in schools, too! Columbine proved that!

Nope, I have never needed to get a lift with somebody I don't know.

Well, it only proves that drivers are in bigger danger than hitch-hikers themselves.

It's the little girls you got to be careful off...
