Still cheaper than the £3000 you have to pay a year in top-up fees in some Unis here

No each semester' date=' so every 6 months! But that's not everywhere in Germany, only in a few federal states, especially in the Western parts. ;)[/quote'] oh I see ... that's an awful lot for a poor student's budget!

I only paid 30-40€ (can't remember exactly) for whole year. and there's these 110-160€ that i pay for the appartment each month... not that much. :)

:stunned: God, I guess students really plunge into debt in UK. Why is everything so expensive on your island?

Lucky you! 110-160€ is very cheap compared to the money you have to pay here. What about food and stuff like that? How much money do you spend each month for your life?

(Great you have the euro in Slovenia, too. Unfortunately I've never got a Slovenian coin so far. :dozey:)

Average debt of a student leaving uni is currently ~ £22K, no idea why everything is so expensive, but Norway is more expensive

Oh what a pity! So you haven't found something in Mainz or Kaiserslautern? :P What about your life at the moment? Are you still working?

heheeh well the only possibilty would have been Mainz because there you can study musicology as well...but that's it...so I applied in Cologne, Bonn and Paderborn and now Bonn was the only uni that has taken me...:shifty: (and now I'mm going to study history as major and musicology as minor subject...:uhoh:)

Don't ask me about my current life please....it's soooo getting on my nerves...I get up pretty late in the morning because I have to work most evenings...and some hours later I go to work...if I have some days off I have to get my future lif ein order...(like finding a flat and all that stuff....uni stuff etc....)......I wish I had a ruled life...

Oh it's actually just one room...and I have to share the bathroom with two other girls ...but it's nice...especially the area where I'll live...not really like a big city....it's cosy and there are many small shops and trees and a nice street with not that many cars...it's an old house in the style of those houses in 19th century....or let's say the beginning of the 20th century...really really cosy...I'm really happy that this turned out well....

Good for you, Julia! :) From your description it must be a beautiful place. I guess now you're not that worry anymore. You're starting to enjoy this, aren't you? ;)

Why didn't you take musicology as major instead of history?

Does it also applied to foreign students or just for Germany citizens?

Japan also has high cost of living. I'm trying to get a scholarship in UK or US next year, I hope I could get it cause it's impossible if I study in UK / US on my own. :\

Thanks Ari:D

Oh I don't know about the food yet, because I'm still at home. I can inform you next month when I'll have some more experience. ;) But i guess i'll need another 50 Euros, but to be honest, I don't know. was never buying any food in past, and i don't eat much , but Ljubljana is more expensive than my town.

(Then you should travel more to the south ;) i think you should get one Slovenian coin quite soon, they should be spread some more by now. :dozey: I got lots of German ones already, but I always mix them with Austrian ones.)

its even more than that, it is here anyway.

you can study for free in scotland (well unless you're from england or overseas) its ridiculous

It's due to the high number of Scottish MPs in the English parliament, they manage to vote for rubbish stuff on England but vote against it for Scotland. Doesn't help having a Scottish PM as well.

but why is it just the english that have to pay?

i could understand that if it was only free for scottish people but i could have gone to scotland and studied there for free.

....is coming very soon (at least in my case) and it does not really feel good...I'll have to pay for my own flat, for my university, for my food, for my clothes, for electricity, etc. pretty soon......how shall I do this? My parents can't really help me there...

and now I've realised that this really must be the end of a careless life...wow that's so strange...suddenly you are confronted with typical life problems you didn't even think about some months ago....some months ago you were still a kid who went to school...everybody cared for you...your teachers....everyone....and now you have to care for yourself....

that's pretty sad actually....how nice was my life when I was 4 or 5 or 6 or 11 or 14....I went to school, did my homework and played with friends....

I will miss this so much......bye bye careless life:cry:

ohhh i totally know what you're going through... i think this passes the mind of every person our age. I mean, all my life i was supported by other ppl, never really had to do anything for myself and suddenly it's all taken away

like there's n middle stage between independence and dependency....

look on the bright side of it though:

there's no one here who can force u to do anything anymore- you're just thrown into the world and you're your own master. No more school, no more civil duty (which i have to do...) - you can travel, study whatever you want, live wherever you want....

that must feel great

i still have a year to go but im already thinking of it....

but why is it just the english that have to pay?

As Scotland hates England.

As Scotland hates England.

yeah but i still find it ridiculous. i know they do but i wouldnt have thought they'd actually make such a law

It's the way the parliament works, the only way to sort it out is for Scotland to be given an upgrade from part of the union to a crown dependency, so they the power to set their own laws etc.

Although this current governement won't spilt the union, as if they do, the Tories will get in.

Right now I feel so sad....I know when my sister moved out my parents were rather happy than sad....because they always were in trouble with her...

I always had a really good relationship with my parents...so some minutes ago my mum said that she'll actually be really sad when I move out....I feel so sad right now...because I know they'll miss me and I know I'll miss them...I don't want them to miss me....I mean I don't want them to be sad...because this makes me sad too...I know that this is normal....I know that someone crazy will definitely will be missing when I don't live here anymore...I think it won't be like before in this house....

I'm glad my parents do still have my little sister....at least....

well I'm just sad right now.....really...only 3 weeks left and I won't live here anymore...

It's natural to feel sadness when you move away from home. Just remember to save up your money to go home once in a while for a weekend or when your on holiday.

Yeah I'll definitely do that....actually I won't live too far away from home...but well it's still a big step for me....it's only 1 and a half hours away from here (with the train)....life has changed so much since I finished school....wow

It's good to keep on your parent's good side if you need them to bail you out if you get into money troubles.

hehehe that's true....well in case of my mum that's true,....but in case of my Dad not really....he is really strict in financial stuff....

awwww if you are sad you should listen to "Air" by J.S. Bach...it helps....

Why do you get the impression that i'm sad?

  • Author

hahahah no I don't think you are sad....it was just a thought by me I wanted to get rid of...:wacky:
