Is Ron Paul Electable? (1/17/08)

That is the question that Carl Cameron asked Ron Paul in last Thursday's Fox News debate in South Carolina.

How did Ron Paul respond?

Well, you wouldn’t be able to find his answer if you watched the rebroadcast of the debate, because Fox News cut Dr. Paul’s response!!!

But don’t worry… Thanks to the wonders of YouTube, you can see Ron Paul respond below or here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlacFmRGPgI

RON PAUL'S ANSWER IS FANTASTIC

And for what it's worth, the charge that Ron Paul is somehow unelectable in the Republican party sounds awfully similar to the charges levied against Ronald Reagan in 1980. As this Time Magazine article shows, another Republican -- Gerald Ford -- branded Ronald Reagan as "unelectable" as late as March of 1980.

Read more about Fox News' censorship in Daniel McCarthy's post on the Daily Dose Blog.

He never fails in getting me so happy and fired up!! :D

The fact that he'll probably never won is a shame indeed like Mo had said, but I'm just happy that someone is responding to these suckers in that way.

I liked Richardson quite a bit, actually. Too bad he pulled out. Though I know that Ron Paul is much of a stronger candidate than he is.

Oh and I thank you again Gareth for letting me know such a man even existed in American politics hehe.

This is way the elite/media are trying to smear Ron Paul.

This is also the reason many people are become very suspicious of the voting process.

Republican Straw polls for the 2008 United States presidential election

Recent winners map

Straw_poll_results2.jpg

Each state and D.C. has been colored to represent its most recent straw poll winner. These polls, however, may not be representative of the entire state since many are smaller, local straw polls, and some are several months old. The numbers of states in which each candidate has won the state's most recent straw poll are as follows:

1. Ron Paul (18)

2. Mitt Romney (9, plus District of Columbia)

3. Fred Thompson (7)

4. Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee (2)

6. Duncan Hunter (1)

7. Alan Keyes, John McCain (0)

The following 105 poll results (including 1 international poll and 9 multiparty polls) are sorted by U.S. state. Where data is incomplete, it reflects all data available at source. [5][6][7] RON PAUL WON THE INTERNATIONAL POLL B.T.W

This is getting serious...

MSNBC Hack Describes Ron Paul As "The Al Qaeda Wing Of The Republican Party"

Shuster sniggers and smirks as he labels presidential candidate a terrorist

180108RP2.jpg

MSNBC correspondent David Shuster today compared Ron Paul to a terrorist on live television commenting that the presidential candidate represents "the Al Qaeda wing of the Republican party".

Shuster, a regular on Hardball with Chris Matthews and other MSNBC programs was responding to comments Matthews himself had made during an appearance on the Jay Leno show.

Matthews stated that the GOP candidates could be compared to tribal factions in Iraq, commenting that that that Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson are like "the fanatics, the Shia wing" while Rudy Giuliani and John McCain are "the more moderate Sunnis", with Romney as "the Kurd".

To describe Rudy Giuliani as "more moderate" is a joke in itself but that is beside the point.

When this exchange was reviewed this morning on MSNBC with Joe Scarborough, Shuster waded in and blurted out "I think it's a great analogy, I mean Ron Paul is the Al Qaeda wing of the Republican party". Shuster then began to smirk and laugh as the two anchors attempted to wriggle their way out of the situation.

Watch the video: (warning, the creator of the following youtube video has seen it fit to add in expletives)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEcUTYbuDvY&eurl

So there you have it, the mainstream media, in the form of GE owned MSNBC, literally saying Ron Paul is Al Qaeda.

Shuster goes even further than Glenn Beck did last November when he declared Ron Paul's supporters to be terrorists. Beck and CNN were flooded with complaints, will this happen to MSNBC? (click here to politely complain and demand a retraction)

Despite the fact that Ron Paul is the only GOP candidate who advocates a complete withdrawal from Iraq, despite the fact that Ron Paul is the only candidate advancing a humble foreign policy, despite the fact that Ron Paul is the only candidate to denounce the concept of preemptive war, he is somehow compared to terrorists.

At the core of Ron Paul's message lies the unimpeded freedom of the individual in America, the very aspect of life we are told on a daily basis by the same mainstream media is the reason "Al Qaeda" wants to kill us all.

Never mind, Ron Paul is Al Qaeda, just accept it. The sad thing is many people listening to Shuster's idiocy will.

Ron Paul was second in Nevada. But sadly I don't think he'll win in any state. Which makes me wonder, why should I give a rats ass about Americans and our future if the people of America are too dumb to elect the right person? America will get what it deserves.

Oh and in response to Glen douchebag Beck for calling Ron Paul's supporters terrorist's....using his logic our founding fathers are terrorist.... I now see how he views America, its founders and why America was created. I can't believe I used to like this asshole.

Yes, I that was a very disgusting attack by that piece of trash, Beck.

And then you have people calling Ron Paul the "Al-qaeda" candidate.....really low, cheap shots by the corporate media.

I watched with great passion as Paul passed McCain in Nevada to come second.

Still, he will keep going....his message is too important to stop at any point.

I think the best way forward if for Ron Paul to redraw and then focus on 2012

Soap Box

He has some very valid points, and I'm glad to see him in the race, as he brings these issues to the forefront - we have lost touch with the US Constitution, and need to get back to its real meaning - I agree wholeheartedly! But I'm an advocate of honest, effective government, not the elimination of most government sectors as Paul advocates - some things (social safety nets) are there to lift people out of desperate times, as things happen (such as diseases, disasters or market failures), and what I feel needs to be done is to get the big money out of politics, and let everyone who's interested hold an equal "share" of their candidate. Matching funds are one start; limiting contributions to no more than the average weekly wages of someone earning minimum wage (let's say $260 for the US), and corporations can't donate - only real people.

Since a free press is essential to our democracy, and fair elections are a right, by which all other rights are protected, then I believe we must open up the public airwaves and allow for plenty of public access in the print media for all viable candidates to have equal access to the press. (what they do then is up to them - at least the contest should be fair). What we have now is a pay-to-win system, which rigs everything in favor of the most aggressive donors.

As Thomas Paine said, "Voting is the right by which all other rights are protected." What might be added? How about equal access to the press for candidates, and a free press, unencumbered by corporate monopolies?!

Since the airwaves are public, and use by broadcasters is a priveleged use of a public commons, then I think it only fair, for the preservation of our Republic, that equal access be granted to candidates.

Well, that's my soap-box speech! Like I said, I do like Paul's stance on defending the constitution and returning to it's true meaning - just I see the need for government agencies to promote the common welfare of the people, and to provide a referee function in society.

I drove 1 1/2 hours to vote for Ron Paul in the Florida primary Tuesday only for him to get like 4% of the votes, Floridians are stupid

Funny how people like insane McCain go around saying how they know what the troops want (to complete their mission and "win" - whatever that means)....But then you see that the only Republican candidate that didn't vote for the war, who will end the war and who bring the troops home, RON PAUL, gets more money from troops and military folk......

Q4 FEC Reports: Ron Paul Receives More 'Military' Donations Than All Other Republicans Combined

Centre Daily

Monday February 4, 2008

ARLINGTON, Va. — According to newly released FEC reports, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has received more military donations than the other three remaining Republican candidates combined.

"The latest numbers make it clear: the troops support Ron Paul," said Ron Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "Dr. Paul has worked his entire career working for veterans, and has many awards and endorsements due to his dedication to their cause."

A search of the FEC database by employer reveals that Dr. Paul has received 1160 donations from military donors, nearly triple that of John McCain, and more than McCain, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee combined.

Dr. Paul's total military donations of $249 thousand are almost as much as the $260 thousand of combined donations received by the other five remaining candidates.

Congressman Paul is no stranger to military support. Former president Ronald Reagan once said, "Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country!"

According to the FEC reports, these are the total number and amount of military donations for each of the presidential candidates*:

Ron Paul: 1160 $249k

John McCain: 438 $83k

Mike Huckabee: 126 $37k

Mitt Romney: 126 $24k

Barack Obama: 443 $76k

Hillary Clinton: 154 $41k

*Methodology: Searched FEC reports for occupation/employer contains: "Army" "Navy" "USN" "USAF" "Air Force" "Marine" "USMC" "Coast Guard" "USCG" then removed duplicates and non-military occupations (i.e. "marine repair").

Congressman Ron Paul's decision to essentially (but not officially) suspend his presidential campaign and focus instead on safeguarding his Congressional seat will confuse and disappoint many of his supporters, while delighting establishment media debunkers, but the truth of how far we have progressed and the reality of the battles that lie ahead show that the campaign has made a shrewd decision.

After months of media censorship, smear attacks and dirty tricks, Ron Paul was essentially left with four choices.

- Drop out of the Republican race altogether and allow the establishment to claim a hollow victory while disappointing his legions of supporters. This was never going to happen.

- Drop out of the Republican race and run as a third party candidate. Up against Hillary and McCain, Paul would have had a 20-30% chance of success but would have immediately endangered his Congressional seat.

- Seek to capitalize on a brokered convention should the Republican's conservative base move against the left-leaning John McCain. This was always a remote option because to have any chance of success, Paul would have had to be trailing McCain by just a few percentage points in the primary results, which was not the case.

- Stay in the presidential race in the hope that a scandal would cripple McCain and leave Paul going head to head with Huckabee but essentially shift all campaigning efforts to focus on his Congressional seat which is now under threat.

Paul rightfully picked the fourth option and in doing so has adopted a rearguard stance to safeguard the influence he has already accrued as a result of appearing in the debates on the campaign trail. Should he retain his seat, Paul will return to Congress with the backing of a gigantic grass roots following the likes of which has not been enjoyed by any other politician in recent times.

The Congressman summed it up in this passage of his press release last night.

"I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen."

Paul's Texas District 14 congressional seat is being challenged by pro-war Neo-Con Chris Peden, who deceived the Congressman by going back on his word that he wouldn't run against Paul during the presidential race. The Paul campaign have evaluated the circumstances and the consequences of losing the Congressional seat and have responded accordingly.

In shifting the focus of his campaign, Paul will still be able to use the millions raised in his name to hold his district and he will still appear in national debates to educate people about the real power structure that seeks to control and dominate us.

Undoubtedly a certain portion of Ron Paul supporters will feel disappointed and let down by the fact that the Congressman is all but suspending his presidential campaign and most of these individuals will be new to politics. They need to understand that we can not and will not win the game with the first roll of the dice. America was not gutted overnight and it will not be restored overnight.

The Ron Paul Revolution was the first major salvo in a battle for our freedom that will never end. What we are fighting is a war of ideas, an information war and a game of brinkmanship. The fact that Ron Paul's message resonated with and woke up millions of people is a victory in itself and provides us a niche with which to continue our efforts.

The focus now shifts to the Congressional race and if we can help Ron Paul retain his seat then the power of our message will be amplified in Congress, especially if and when Hillary Clinton is anointed in the White House and continues the same policies we saw under Bush.

It is essential and shrewd to maintain a positive attitude and consider how far along the path we have traveled in the pursuit of restoring liberty. A powerful message has been broadcast to those who would attempt to enslave us that there will be a reaction and that our numbers and influence will only continue to grow, presidential race or no presidential race.

As we have said all along - this is not about a political campaign, this is not about 2008 and this is not even about Ron Paul. This is about an idea, an idea that surpasses the transitory nature of a presidential election and one which can not and will not be stopped no matter what the circumstances.

As Ron Paul himself says,

"This Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked."

Neo-Cons Admit Ron Paul Has "Changed GOP Forever"

Supporters need to value progress made in last 12 months and understand battle for liberty never ends

Amidst a certain amount of resentment amongst some Ron Paul supporters that the Texan has decided to scale back his presidential campaign in order to secure his Congressional seat, the real progress that has been made over the last 12 months has been highlighted by an unlikely source.

Newsmax, which is largely a Neo-Con news outfit, admits in its new print magazine issue that Ron Paul may have "changed the GOP forever," conceding that he is "sparking an incredible movement of libertarian conservatives in the Republican Party."

Newsmax writes that Paul's message of small government, limited taxation, and reduced intervention abroad "resonates with millions of Americans" and compares the Congressman's impact to that of conservative icon Barry Goldwater, who fundamentally shifted the course of the GOP 50 years ago.

The Ron Paul Revolution is still in its infancy and Ron Paul will only be the figurehead of the movement for a limited period of time. When the time comes, new personalities will emerge but the fundamental drive and purpose of the movement will remain the same.

As we have underscored, America was not demolished overnight and it won't be restored overnight. This is part of a long process that transcends the issue of Ron Paul's presidential campaign. People who are so naive as to lose hope and abandon the cause at such an early stage need to realize that the struggle to revive liberty is a long and arduous battle which really has no end.

We really need to continually remind ourselves to take stock of what we as a movement have achieved in just the last 12 months alone.

Talk of abolishing the private Federal Reserve, eliminating fractional reserve banking and returning America to a truly conservative humble foreign policy is so prevalent that it's a topic of discussion on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Such a thing was unheard of five or ten years ago.

Ron Paul's presidential campaign platform has educated millions of Americans about real issues and we can now safely count on the fact that around 10 per cent of the U.S. population are fully awake and aware - that's at least double the amount of support the founding fathers could rely on during the Revolutionary War.

Such a widespread and highly motivated grass roots movement is the antidote to the poison of big government and tyranny that has been injected into the heart of America since 9/11.

Beyond Ron Paul and beyond the 2008 presidential election this unprecedented freedom movement will remain a major force in politics - but only if Ron Paul supporters can have foresight and understand that the war is not over - it has only just begun.

Personally I follow more under the democratic party.

But.. if again, we have another republican(which no offence to anyone im not looking forward to), Ron paul would be are best bet. Some of his views on the main issues today are pretty similar to mine. And out of the republicans canidates I find him the best.

So if it happens to be an elephant who wins, hopefully its this guy.lol

Well, he aint going to win now.

But the message/info his campaign has started to spread is of great importance - and also unstoppable.

In a way, he has already won. Ron Paul Has Already Won.

Ron Paul Calls For March On Washington DC

Congressman admits move would be "risky" but that media would be forced to sit up and take notice

Congressman Ron Paul has called on his supporters to organize a march on Washington DC, admitting that such a move would be "risky" but impossible for the media to ignore and could have a big impact on the eve of the Republican convention.

In a campaign update posted on You Tube last night, the Texan outlined his thinking behind the plan.

"One of the projects that I've been working on in my mind and in my head that I want to share with you....we ought to make a grand display, we ought to have a true march to show what our numbers are," said Paul, adding that such a move would be "risky".

Paul said that the march was necessary because the media would not be able to ignore it and such an action would "send a powerful message."

"Others have gone to Washington and people remember the grand rallies, so I'm at the point where I think we have to make a grand stand, we have to stand firm and see where the numbers are and be counted and see if the remnant is there and see how big it is," said Paul, adding that such a display could make delegates sit up and take notice at the Republican convention in September.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryMliyeIDp4

Paul said the rally was vital, "If we want to really take a stand for freedom, take a stand that nobody can ignore, to see what would happen if we really had this grand march on Washington."

The Congressman said the march would have to take place within three or four months so that it would occur before the convention.

The prospect of such a huge public display is obviously going to send chills down the spines of the elite and they will no doubt be considering plans to infiltrate and provocateur violence so as to demonize legitimate demonstrators in the eyes of the watching audience.

Numerous important demonstrations down the years have been infiltrated by authorities posing as anarchists who instigate violence to give the police carte blanche to crackdown on peaceful protesters.

Nowhere was this more evident that in Quebec last summer where during the SPP summit protest, Canadian police were caught and later forced to admit to posing as violent rock-carrying anarchists as other police staged their arrest when they were pointed out as cops by protesters.

The potential of more staged violence is particularly high considering the fact that the media has engaged in a year-long campaign to insinuate that Ron Paul supporters are extremists, racists and possibly violent. They seized upon several "money-bomb" campaigns to link the terminology with Guy Fawkes' 16th century Gunpowder Plot to bomb the British parliament.

During his campaign update, Ron Paul also emphasized why his supporters should not be disheartened by his recent decision to scale back his presidential campaign in order to safeguard his congressional seat.

"We do have to be very positive about what we have achieved this year, far beyond my expectations and far beyond the expectations of most of those individuals in the media who wrote us off rather quickly," said Paul.

"If we drop the ball now, if we fade away and disappear, all the work and effort that we've done in this past year could be lost so that is why I believe we have to stay in this race and do what we can."

"We can't turn this around in a week or two or a year or two, but if conditions deteriorate as I suspect we have to have a hardcore of people who understand these issues who are able to rebuild this society," he added.

"We need everybody to stay engaged and stay active and not be disillusioned that this is all over....we can't drop the ball right now, we have to continue this process," concluded Paul.

Bad news, and I was knowed that he never going to win because as long as he stand against the Zionism he will never ever going to win.

Thank you for that pointless info

As long as you said this, you know nothing about Mr. Ron Paul. The ideology of Ran Poul like non-intervention [including Mideast problems], his call to end the foreign aid for foreign countries [including Israel] and when he refused to sign a petition condemned Hezbullah in 2006 summer war. All these things make him hated and not prefered by the Zionists leaders who control the presidential election.

If you take a look in Haaretz web site [especially in Rosner blog] you will see analysis called Israel Factor [one of the Israeli civilian said that USA president most important than the Israeli president] talking about the best president for Israel, then you will notice that they never mentioned Ron Paul like if he never run this race.

Hope you understand.

Hey, there's no doubt top leaders in Israel are bad people but you have to be careful how you go about explaining it because sadly most people only know very little and any critizism of anything Israel makes folk cry 'Antisemitism' quicker than they can drink their brain destroying diet coke.
