Coldplay Setlists

Featured Replies

I found when looking through setlists that coldplay doesn't vary them very much from concert to concert.. are you guys fine with this, cuz i find it kind of lame...

Ive noticed that too. The 2006 tour was basically the same setlist although they didn't play "How you see the world" at many shows. I don't think its that lame because it doesn't effect me one bit. I don't travel the world seeing them so what makes a difference the order of the songs? I would how ever like them to play more songs from previous albums to switch it up a bit though.

I've edited what I was going to say as I fear a backlash.

I hope the change it around when the 4th album comes out.I think they will but big hitters will be left out so not good for some fans. Mabye they will take out some timeless classics like Yellow and only play it in a few gigs. It does get tiring after a while but dont worry im sure there will be a song as good as Yellow or even BETTER on the 4th album. My prediction will probaly be Speed Of Sound. I think its a good thing as i dont want to go to a CP concert and see a predictable setlist. I wanna be suprised

they will always play clocks, the scientist, yellow, don't panic, in my place, trouble, fix you, and probably speed of sound, God put a smile, and politik.... how much variation does that leave?

most bands don't vary their set lists greatly. Springsteen, Snow Patrol, Decemberists, Modest Mouse, Coldplay, and every other band I saw multiple times int he past year....similar setlists.

why?

maybe because most people don't go to see more than one show/can't afford to attend more than one show, and so the band's opt to play the favorites every night, with very little variation.

if I were CP, or MM, or SP or Bruuuuuce, I'd be doing the same. Better to appease the masses then a select few.

Actually I disagree that they will always have those songs in the setlist. In parts of the X&Y tour and glastonbury '05 they would sometimes replace trouble with amsterdam or everything's not lost. Clocks, the scientist and yellow I agree will always be on the list but don't panic might become less of a priority as might GPASUYF...I I think those two will occasionally leave the setlist to be replaced by fresher singles. I also thing that they're going to drop square-one next tour because it would be absurd to have 3 intro songs. In my place will stay around though.

Although I consider myself a huge Coldplay fan, I have to agree with the arguement that they don't have a big difference in set lists. I saw them 3 times on the X & Y tour, and it was somewhat of a let down to not hear a song like "Shiver" at any of the three concerts I attended.

All the same, I thought the concert was predictable, too. It was so predictable that I knew to stick out my cell phone (being in the front row) while they sang "Talk" and I would have a "lucky" chance to have Chris Martin picked it up and used it...which he did! I loved that (DON'T GET ME WRONG) because I looked like a stud (thanks, Chris)!

Am I making a point?!

I only saw them once (shame on me) and I was more than happy.

They also do it to avoid ppl complaining, ie. "ooohhh, but they got to see them play X song...and we didnt..." etc etc etc.

Fair all round for everyone I guess.

However, South America did get the likes of Sparks..but they did have to wait the longest.

True...

I guess if I compare them to a group like Dave Mathews Band where one night to the next you don't know what you are going to get that is frustrating when I see DMB; whereas, with Coldplay I won't have that disappointment...

Although I wish they would play Shiver, Sparks, Spies, etc... more often.
